Hello

I am going back in time to the games we used to play as kids.

-my favorite NES game : dragon warrior (one of the first role playing games)

-my favorite PS1 game : final fantasy TACTICS (unique chess-like role playing game)

so; what are your favorite retro games?

MGS and FF7 are retro? I feel old.

Give me the Commodore 64 any day... there has yet to be a superior gaming system.

How do you figure? Poor sound, extremely poor graphics and no real physics at all.

I found my old copy of Colonization a few months back, and since I had a audigy, I managed to get it working on my XP machine, sound and all!!!

I fiddled with it almost a month, and it was STILL fun!

Now, If only I could get these X-wing and Tie Fighter games working....

Funny thing is that you can really tell the old foggies from the youngins by the responses. PS1 and even NES as old? Someone get me a cane so I can wave it violently at the noisy kids in the street.

I'm thinking of installing XP
I wonder if I'll be able to run old dos games.
Like darkseed and dreamweb for example.

The hardest things about DOS games and XP are sound and speed. Sounds are hard to get to work in XP, especially with onboard sound, as DOS drivers are needed. Also, I've seen games freak out on newer computers because the games we meant to run on 33mhz system busses. They end up looking like they are on speed in the cutscenes, like original Tie fighter.

SNES is retro? P-u-lease! By retro we're talking about things like the Atari 2600.

I always loved:

Air-Sea Battle
Deadly Duck
Defender was one of my favorites
