Danny Glover was the President is 2012. The catastrophe is not a meteor in that movie; it's earthquakes, tidal waves, floods, and dramatic
climatological events precipitated by the displacement of the Earth's crust. The government secretly builds massive ships - called "Arks" in the
film - to ensure the survival of a small percentage of the human population.
The movie with the meteor (it's actually a comet in the film), wherein the reporter learns of the impending doom after speaking with a top staff
member who left for personal reasons is Deep Impact. Morgan Freeman is the President in that movie, and the government builds large underground
shelters so that humanity can survive the catastrophe.
People have been certain that the end is near since civilization began. The stimulus money went to Wall Street. Get your disaster movies straight
and don't take them so seriously... Reading ATS for a year can convince anyone that the apocalypse is right around the corner. It's not. Wait and
see.
