UK Prepares Emergency Measures For Euro Collapse To Prevent An Influx Of People And Money
By JASON GROVES
Last updated at 8:28 AM on 28th December 2011

Ministers are considering draconian plans to prevent a flood of money and people heading to Britain from Europe if the ailing single currency collapses.

Experts fear that the collapse of the euro would lead to the widespread movement of both people and money – with potentially damaging consequences for Britain if left unchecked.

The Treasury has drawn up contingency plans to prevent investors shifting huge sums of cash from the Eurozone to Britain – amid fears it could lead to a surge in the value of the Pound.

And it emerged yesterday that Britain’s borders could also be temporarily sealed against economic refugees from Europe if the collapse of the euro sparks widespread civil unrest on the Continent.

The Foreign Office is also working on contingency plans for the emergency evacuation of thousands of British expats and holidaymakers from stricken countries.

Europe should do the same thing to prepare for a collapse in the UK :

UK's debt? 950% of GDP

An overvalued British Pound sounds good on paper but if you want to increase your exports there could be nothing more dangerous. Apparently that is what the Cameron government is basing the British recovery on, so it does make sense what they are doing. I know people will say, “Wouldn’t more money in Britain be a good thing?” Well in most cases yes, but, as I said already, it would hurt exports.

However we cannot forget about the even more worrisome part of this; sealing the borders to economic refugees and evacuation plans for British overseas. You do not just regularly draft these sorts of plans unless you expect something to happen; they can say anything, it will not convince me otherwise. Now, this makes on think, how freaking terrible will it be in mainland Europe that they feel there will be such a mass movement of refugees that it is necessary to seal the borders? I mean, this is the sort of thing you would expect in 1929.

It seems to me that when push comes to shove Britain will say F* globalization, we are protecting ourselves.

well its undeniable that the U.K. has got an economic collapse coming but at the moment Europe is looking like it'll get there first.

If the global economy collapses your going to see some countries trying to merge and a lot more simply closing there borders and ignoring the rest of the world. There will be Greece style riots in every major city in the world. Supply lines will be shattered and there will be massive food and goods shortages... where it goes from there though is anyones guess...

Things are definitely going to go downhill quickly. Been expecting it. Don't have a plan. Don't even have a vehicle. But I have been stocking up on food. And duct tape. I guess that makes me a terrorist.

Maybe someone will recruit me to join a survival group or the like. Better do it quick. Time's running out. I'll work anytime, anywhere...

I share your view of the Daily Fail, but The Sunday Times headline a few weeks ago, was about the government drawing up plans for evacuating UK citizens from Spain and Portugal. Over 1 and half million British ex pats.

this thing is global though, there is no were to run to, no country it won't mess up in some way or other. Best you can do is gather all the food you can and keep your family as near as possible. Buy gold too if you can.

The chaos of the 1930s would happen again, although likely on a much smaller scale (hopefully). I would expect there to be four types of politics going on during the chaos:

1. A move away from neoliberalism/neoconservatism without too much turmoil will likely occur in United States, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Denmark, Switzerland, and Ireland.
2. A rise of international communism/socialism which will likely be dominant in Norway, Sweden, Portugal, and parts of Western Europe.
3. A rise of nationalism ethnic/fascistic/national Bolshevik which will likely be dominant in Italy, Greece, Austria, Hungary, Russia, Poland, and parts of Southeastern Europe.
4. A confrontation between nationalists and internationalists in the old fault lines of Spain, France, Germany, Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, and parts of Central Europe.

That would be an easy guess on my end. Now, how bad things get and how far people take their ideologies is another thing altogether. I would say you want to avoid France, Spain, Italy, and Greece at all costs; and if you are an immigrant then leave Russia.

There are many other sources including these two if you don't like The Daily Mail:

Eurozone Crisis: Foreign Office Plans Evacuation Of Expatriates

Britons living in Spain and Portugal could get government help to leave the countries if the crisis in the eurozone sends their banks into meltdown.

U.K. Considering Plans for Spain, Portugal Expats, Times Says
By Jennifer Ryan - Dec 18, 2011 9:09 AM ET
www.bloomberg.com...

The U.K. is making plans to evacuate Britons living in Spain and Portugal in case the nations’ banking systems collapse, the Sunday Times reported, citing people in the Foreign Office it didn’t identify.
The U.K. is discussing sending planes, ships and buses to bring citizens back to Britain or giving them loans if they’re unable to access their money, the paper said. The Treasury may also put pressure on banks not to call in mortgage loans.

TIWWA,

Saw your thread and remembered something I came across some time ago. It might or might not be related but who knows? I have no association with the author of this report nor any knowledge of it's authenticity and cannot verify any part of it.

The timing is off. November has come and gone. Thought I'd post it anyway, just in case.

I'll try to keep this short. A friend of 50 years called to inform me of a goverment action. A friend of his[40 years] came to town & told him a week before , [8-7-11 approx.] a person from goverment came to there area ,had them call a tri county meeting of all key police department personnel & said this, There are going to be 5 countries in Europe that are going to collispe in next 90 days, people will come hear expecting us to take care of them, we will be flooded with people [ shortening this] - not going to happen.THEY WERE TO 1st order all ammo that you can for your dept., Now, 2nd issue all riot gear to personnel now, 3rd buy all the food you can for your families now, because when this happens there's will only be 5 hours of food on store shelves.

Police are being NOTIFIED of changes about to happen!

Hope this is true...i'm sick of all the foreigners taking over our damm country. I'm not talking about Indian folk and folk of African heritage, because of course Britain claimed territory in a number of countries many year's ago.

I'm talking about the Polish, Ukrainian and Kurdish people who have their own dedicated streets across the nation, and in particular a major street in my home city of Hull. We give them homes to live in, they take all our jobs, all our money and then send it back home to their families and I think I speak for the majority of England when I say "WE WANT YOU OUT!"

Seal the borders permanently, round up the current foreigners and ship them back to their own home lands!

You forget that Great Britain has had 2000 years of invasion, immigration and the infusion of foreign ideas have created the Britain we know today. We are a Mongrel nation and thats what makes us so great.
I work with Polish people and they are great people. I think you do not speak for the majority just yourself and others like the BNP.
