Since our brilliant US Government has decided to pull out of Iraq, for nothing more than POLITICAL gain, how long do you really think Iraq will stand free as we left it?

To the Iraqi's, I feel very, very sorry for you. You are about to begin the path to tyranny, as it was, before the USA came to save you from the evil Dictator that you once loathed.

And now, with the infinite wisdom he claims to posses, President Obama has pulled the last remaining troops out of Iraq to do nothing more than establish a campaign promise, and to cower to those who he needs to be reelected in 2012.

Thousands of US troops have given their lives to advance freedom upon your country. And now, less than 2 weeks since the pull out, you have been brutally attacked by those who want to see freedom fail.

On December 22, you saw 60 lives taken at the hands of terror:

NEWS

and today, another 7 lives taken:

NEWS

The dust from the US Troop's departure hasn't even settled yet, and thus begins the re-taking of your country by those who hate freedom and what it stands for.

The very fact that you are now left unprotected and your own military and police are not strong enough to defend you means that it is just a matter of time before you are conquered again, probably by Iran.

You have no means to defend yourselves, and no will left. You are battle fatigued.

And spitting in the faces of the US families who lost loved ones in your defense and liberation, the "commander in chief" has decided to turn his back on his own General's advice, and leave you in the wake of our departure.

After all, his own golf game and basketball obsession has made him more capable of running a military operation than those who he employs.

The US people are behind you and your freedom. The President, however, is not.

Without the US Military there, it is just a matter of time before you are swarmed by increased deaths and ultimate demise.

I feel very badly for you, as you have tasted freedom, and are soon to have it ripped out of your hands for political purposes.

God save you all.

You do realize that the Iraqi goverment MADE us pull out? Obama didn't do anything except shrug his shoulders. We'd still be there otherwise.

Ok, the US was evil for attacking Iraq. Now we are evil for pulling out? We need to end all foreign aid, close all foreign bases, and bring all of our troops home. Then we tell the rest of the world to F off.

Why the hell would Iran of all places attack Iraq? You say they have tasted freedom... I think the taste of drone attacks and house raids might have left a bitter taste in there mouth in that case.

They'll be back in Iraq soon enough, the only difference is next time they won't be welcomed as warmly as they were last time. Not many people in the middle east have much patience anymore for the stars and stripes and freedom propaganda.

And this is why nationbuilding does not work.

In our "war on terror" we went to Iraq, overturned it, built it up into what we thought might be a functional democratic nation, and as a result Iraq is one of the top three terrorist attack ridden nations of the world.

There was never a viable exit strategy, and there could not have been one whether we set a time line to exit for now, or twenty years from now. Afghanistan is, and will be the same situation...

Mission Accomplished

The timetable was first initiated by Bush. The Iraqi leadership and Obama simply stuck to it.

Iraq would not extend the SOFA (Status Of Forces Agreement) for the US military.

T'is the nature of the beast in the Middle East.

Obviously, the pull out that was scheduled was intended for a time when Iraq was able to stand on its own. To give a time and a date, which Obama actually applied, was foolish. If finishing the task at hand means spending until 2020 in Iraq, then so be it. But to do so, when Iraq is barely capable of standing, is nothing more than politically motivated.

The Iraqi government may have wanted us out, however, is it really their decision to make that "decision"? The US, having made a Trillion dollar investment in the region is who has the right to decide when the mission is over. Not the Iraqis.

While I agree with you about reducing foreign aid to countries, we were not evil for attacking, and I am not saying we are evil for pulling out.

Regardless of your belief, facts are facts. Saddam Hussein had to go. He did posses WMD. And had he remained in power, he would have used them on his own people and the Turks.

The mantra that "bush lied" is tiring as it is old. LINK

Pulling out now has merely wasted how many years and how many lives, both our military and civilians on the ground?

Why would Iran attack Iraq? I don't see it as an announced, all out attack on the country. What I do see is Iran continuing to deteriorate the country from within -- supplying mercenaries, bomb building materials, and just agitation in the region. Why? Because they have, and they can. What better way to spit in the face of the USA than to enhance their presence in the country and stir up unrest?

What do they have to gain? Oil refineries, which, Iran does not have. Geographical tactical presence -- closer to Israel.
