Here is a link to the spectrogram from this mornings eruption at Tungurahua volcano, which sent small lapilli raining down on a nearby town.

NOAA has issued a volcanic ash advisory (VA) for Tungurahue at 14:23UTC, based on GOES-13, GPS Winds, Seismic detection, and pilot report.

Old Icelandic volcano, Hengill is rumbling again. It has been rumbling since April 18th and each day more and more earthquakes appear. Strongest quakes are magnitude 2.0+ and they are not very deep, mainly at 5km down, while some are at 3km down.

en.vedur.is...

Could be fracking, or natural volcano activity. Fracking usually makes very short swarms, but this has lasted about week. Hengill volcano erupted last time around 90 AD +/- 100 years, so there is no records of its eruptions. Today its used by energy companies as there is many hot springs and its utilized for geothermal energy. Sometimes Hengill has strong earthquakes because of fracking, as energy companies want more energy from that volcano, but its risky business and could start eruption.

Currently there are about 30 active volcanoes.

Which volcanoes were erupting during 2009?

There were 68 volcanoes that had confirmed eruptions during this time.

Either it is a few days behind, or the date shown is incorrect, or my compy just won't update the image--ugh

Afraid you have to get used to that. Many of the webcams in South America are like that. Chaiten was on and off for months, so much so I stopped bothering.

I can't remember now where I said I was asking but I have had a response from the Global Volcanism Program about the reason that they are showing now new eruptions for 2012.

We have the database frozen until a new website launch in June. You can find new eruptions by reading the archive of Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Reports (www.volcano.si.edu...).

Another site being changed, probably for no good reason to make it snazzier. Sorry, I am a Taurus and don't like change.

Has anyone been watching Yellowstone? Ive been noticing that the seismograph for the Yellowstone Lake area looks wrong some how to me. I have been seeing this same colored in graph for well over a week now. Im not a volcanologist or seismologist but it dont seem right that just one seismograph is doing this. Any info or thoughts?

LKWY is on a different transmitter system. Every is SNAFU. Situation normal... There's lots of siesmos off line. One went down a week ago. Maybe now that spring is coming they can get out and fix some of the problems.
Don't stress. There's not much happen at Yellowstone. Although, watch on around the 20th. I predict a swarm north of Yellowstone Lake.
