Stratfor Hacked, 200GB Of Emails, Credit Cards Stolen, Client List Released, Includes MF Global, Rockefeller Foundation

www.zerohedge.com

This Christmas will not be a happy one for George Friedman (who incidentally was the focus of John Mauldin's latest book promotion email blast) and his Stratfor Global Intelligence service, because as of a few hours ago, hacking collective Anonymous disclosed that not only has it hacked the Stratfor website (since confirmed by Friedman himself), but has also obtained the full client list of over 4000 individuals and corporations, including their credit cards (which supposedly have been used to make $1 million in "donations"), as well as over 200 GB of email correspondence.

I'll give the hackers this much, they will bring things to a fight across cyber space much faster this way than going after Bank Of America or Wall Street. I'm not sure that is a good thing, but there it is. They sure are inviting the most capable payback the world can offer.

Rather than targeting the bankers, financiers and power brokers, they target the service where heads of security who work FOR those people all congregate. Basically, a collection of the most capable, trained and qualified to hunt Anonymous down and snuff them out in a REAL way.

Perhaps targeting those people on a deeply personal level rather than the professional annoyance that attacking their CEO bosses would have otherwise caused will turn out to be a mistake. It's about the same as targeting the families of cops to get some sense of revenge for the conduct of the Officers though, so nothing truly new. It's just taken to a whole new level with Stratfor. Very interesting......
