It would be so freaky if something big did happen today. Remember, Mayan time is my time, west coast, so it's only 7:47am on the 21st. Of course, I am expecting absolutey nothing will happen. lol

Not to fearmonger too much, but it just seems so damn quiet over the last little while. I think something's gonna give in the next few days (baseless feeling).

That is pretty deep. Probably not too bothered on the surface.

Peace

I just came on to post the Vanuata 6. 8 one.
Seems fairly normal for that region.
I wouldn't relate it to today's date, but who really knows

Damn... I was right... hmm sometimes I am really shocked by my own feeling. I should go to bed now since I am really drunk... I am really shocked. I really guessed that location and knew around 24h left...
I posted location Asia here, but I told my sister it will be near Australia... I am really a bit confused... since a few weeks all my guesses in my log were correct

you should publish your predictions here on ATS prior to the events ( on a seperate topic), then you have proof you actually did make a prediction.
Mine are hardly ever right but I occasionally spot a weak spot or see a trend and post them up anyway, odds are might get 2/12 right.
I was looking for something in Mexico this week.
I don't bother too much with predictions, what use are they when the closest most predictors get is within 1000km?, s'pose it OK for the fun of it.

just added Iran to WEA (World Earthquake Archives)
Iran 2.5+
14 maps
History1900-2012 5+ (mag5= 1178, mag6= 147, mag7= 20, total= 1345)
All 2012 mag 2.5+ (1631 events, mag5= 20, mag6= 2)
and one for each month of 2012

not as many quakes there as I thought, although the bigger ones do cause some damage.

No I am not a fan of people running arround and predict something. I keep it in a private enviroment with my family and friends.

Japan page on WEA has been re-booted, but this time with mag 3+ only, by the month
Its a massive task to put up all the quakes from mag 1 on a monthly map, most computers would seize up and the maps never load, that is why I have restricted it to 3+.
I've only done December so far, even that was a mission in itself, but it has been made easier now that NIED has a new 7 day batch data download feature available.
Still a lot of filtering, the data goes down to mag -1, I just put together November this morning and there are 10,281 events, plus 280 that they couldn't ID the size or location of

anyway here is the inter-active Dec 2012 mag 3+ map

good overview of the 7.3 on 07/12/2012 and aftershocks of that on there, it was at #138 ascending towards the last entry #859 for Dec as of 21/12/2012.
the Japan monthly page is within the eqarchives site (link in my signature) if anyone wants to follow the other months as I put them on, looks like a rainy Christmas for us from tonight on, stuck indoors, I might as well do something useful

I don't care

But hey at least it is written a few pages back, that I said >6.5 within 24 hours.
Btw I have the feeling of another bigger one within the next 12 hours

no problem

I get carried away with it sometimes.
just got the Nov Japan map up and the reason I put them side by side is to compare the months, you can set each map roughly to the same spot, so now I see Dec and Nov I want to see what October had !

eg. focused on off East Coast of Honshu
screenshot thumb

there were 4901 quakes above mag 1 in Nov 2012, I might try and load that up and see if it will operate correctly.
in the data there were about 4400 events below mag 1 , I wonder how many were actually quakes or maybe volcanic ............ see how its easy to get hooked into this research, there is always something to look for

hmmmm, opened OK, but that is just one of what will end up being 12 per page, so it may take longer once they are all on there.
mag 1+ Japan by month ( just November right now)

focused on "off East Coast of Honshu" again

I won't bother putting this on my JEA page, but it was worth a look.
< mag 1 quakes, November 2012, 3685 of them!
of course there are volcano's all over Japan, and some of these are centred on the cones, but most are not.
Depths vary from 149km up to 0km, half of them less than 12km
Some are 0.1km so I take that to be 100metres, makes me think some may be geothermal (like The Geysers in California) but I'm not up to speed with the locations of such things in Japan.
These are what you likely call Tremors, such as they have over in Oregon/Washington/Vancouver area, the difference being the Japs pinned down the magnitudes.
They are bunched up in little groups all over the country.

oh, BTW all the icons are blue, the darker ones are event less than 0, the lighter ones are mag 0-0.9
The only other Networks I've seen do negative mags is Iceland and Norsar (Scandanavia)
