Don't forget the Kamchatka is where the Mag 8 is supposed to go off on the 10th > 11th > 12th > 13th > 14th > 15th > well OK 16th then maybe perhaps possibly...........

There has been some little stuff but no Mag 8 yet (and I don't believe there will be either)

I also don't think Old Yeller is up to anything either. Something settled, it farted a bit and it has all blown over.

Very! I don't think Yellowstone is a swarm until you have a hundred or more being as it can go into the thousands.

Shame on you for using such an untechnical word Puter.

I am however glad that you don't see Yeller acting to out of line.

Also, for some reason, way back in my mind peeps a little man out from behind a wall that says watch Kamchatka.
I don't know why, we don't know what data they are using to "predict" anything. I would really like to know, but I certainly won't pay to look over anything they have to say on the matter.

*meanwhile, the child in me that didn't get much sleep continues to giggle.....*

It's so hard to split hairs. They've listed about a dozen for Yellowstone in a recent update on map. There's maybe twentyish altogether and there was just a small solo one not long agoe. Aftershock. Bad robin. No.

It was a movement. So, no individual earthquakes to cut up. This Yellowstone swarm is no tectonic but fluid. It does not resemble the regular pops that are frequent and easy to spot. This was a bunch altogether more akin to diarrhea evacuating rather than flatulence. I don't think anyone knows if it whether it was magma or water. My guess it's Yellowstone getting another magma recharge. I can't remember when, but there was a series very similar and very near that end of the park. It's within the caldera, or near the hotspot, or on the rim. It is near Old Faithful and the Geysers so it could be hydro-thermal.

I like our Canadian Weather Network. But there links aren't always the best and they change stuff. Here goes. and i'll find something else....

www.theweathernetwork.com...&stormfile=Scientists_find__trigger__for_large-scale_volcanic_eruptions_13_10_2012?ref=ccbox _weather_category3

here's another

www.tgdaily.com...

just say it. of course it's thermal mixing. it's the main bit of physics to support my giant volcano theory. fire and ice. simple. so, i'm betting we had some kind of thermal mixing near Yellowstone. I think this is really fundamental. I mean the sun is doing the same thing. Our weather hear on the planet does the same thing. Right now there's a warm chunk of air that being push by a cold front and we've got a wind warning. Wicked. wicked wicked halloweeny.

giant volcano erupt to from hudson bay long long ago

I can't believe I had already forgotten about the magnitude 8!
Too much going on around here lately to focus!

When I saw the first few last night, what caught my attention,
was it seemed odd that there were no smaller quakes mixed in.
But they are on the list today.

Then I ran across this link with monitoring for GPS, temperature & things.

volcanoes.usgs.gov...

Three of the GPS graphs on stations inside the caldera showed what looked like an
increase to my uneducated eye. Each station has three graphs,
it was the bottom graph on each of them, & none outside the caldera was showing it.
Stations: OFW2, HVWY & WLWY.
The three graphs aren't labeled, so I don't know what the difference in them is.
And today it's going back down it looks like.

Maybe it was just because that area had more movement from the quakes?
I thought it was odd that none outside showed it, but a couple of the stations
that were closest to the quakes didn't have graphs!

They're showing 23 on the list for yesterday now, (bottom left of page):

www.seis.utah.edu...

Last night the M1.0+ list wasn't showing any below 2.5.

From your link:

An M8 aftershock, based on historical major Japanese quake data, has an 80% weight of occurring today with that weighting reaching 100% by September 2016.

You see the problem here is that there is no historical data after a Mag 9 because in recorded history Japan has not had a Mag 9 (that I have found) so that is statistically inaccurate.

It is also NOT a RULE that an earthquake of 1 magnitude lower than the main shock will occur. In fact some time ago, in relation to this very event, I looked at all Mag 9 quakes known and actually the chance of a Mag 8 after a mag 9 statistically is NIL.

There is however a very good chance of a Mag 7 to 7.5 but I would ask it to hold off until they have sorted out No 4 pool.

Thanks guys for the word on Old Yella.

Here is another question...

What is up with Nevada and the lack of infomation regarding the swarm?

www.mynews4.com...

It's not strange for a dozen quakes this size to happen in a week, but there have been at least 115 since October 8, and about 60 of those have been since Thursday. "These things are totally unpredictable," Smith said. "It could stop today, or it could keep going at a level of very small events that no one would feel." Or they could get stronger. so far they're small - with the biggest two quakes shaking at magnitude one - but there's potential for one that really rocks Reno. "We have faults around here that are capable of magnitude seven type events," Smith said. So this week the Great Nevada Shakeout will teach people to drop, cover and hold-on just in case there's a big quake. It's Nevada's largest earthquake drill and it's this Thursday, October 18 at 10:18 am.

Thanks in advance!!!!
