Mm, and where to they source their data? Ah yes USGS, EMSC and GFZ Potsdam!

Expect them to be the same and to take much longer to adapt to changes.

So my parents are reporting aftershocks in Costa Rica but they don't seem to appear at the USGS and I have it set to show ALL.

I went to this site expecting some more detail, its the Costa Rica earthquakes web site, was overloaded for a few hours, seems to be on now.
Not much to see just the Main 7.6 shock
someof these smaller Networks take forever to post up new data
maybe you can keep an eye on it anyway

Well Geonet NZ has gone and done a USGS

totally changed their web site and its pretty useless now.
this is the changes they have made info.geonet.org.nz...

So the catalog stopped on 31st August and won't restart until Jan 2013

WTF?

that totally brings to a screeching halt what I have been doing since 2009 with my NZ Earthquakes blog.
All I can do now is download the last 30 quakes as often as I can and hope I don't miss too many.

What a shambles.

They have come up with a Timemap, last 250 quakes geonet.org.nz...

I don't like it

Well the good news is they are alive and reporting after shocks as I have been wondering why nothing else from that area is showing up on USGS. It's like the quake happened, and then nothing.

Glad your parents are ok and really hope for the best in days to come!!!

Yes USGS just finally updated with two aftershocks a 4.4 and a 4.5 but I'm sure there has been more.

I hate the new USGS site now, totally sucks!

No large sunspots. Yes there was/is energy release from what could be a medium size sunspot during next cycle in about 20 days. There was a substantial energy release from the sun causing geomagnetic storms during past four days, but that peaked at Earth around Sunday/Monday.

I agree with Putterman - Big doubt that sunspots has anything to do with earthquakes; rather it seems the opposite. Extreme low level of sunspots seems to correspond with higher energy and qty quakes.

Right at present the sun activity is smackaroo in the middle between normal high and normal quiet;
like #5 is halfway between #1 and #9.

I just saw that there have been two quakes at Yellowstone. Why hasn't anyone mentioned them, are they not big enough to be a concern?

the site I use.
