That was my feeling too. It seems that lately, any swarm of activity in one place is quickly followed by another "reactive" event across the globe not long after. We can only hope that things stay quiet.

Tonight is a "blue" full moon too.

Yeah, that's a good reminder in regards to the moon. earthquake-report.com...

It's pitiful, yet funny! I was torn and then felt bad for lol!!!

Here is what someone said via Earthquake Report.

CEBU - I WAS IN C.R. WHEN VERY STRONG EARTHQUAKE APPEARS. I WAS LIKE "OMAYGOSH, IM GONNA DIE" THEN I IMMEDIATELY POOPSHOOT AND WENT OUTSIDE THE HOUSE WITHOUT MY BRIEF ON. THANK GOD I LIVE.

2012 Mag 7+ so far

interactive map with popup tag details for each quake

didn't mention the laxative effects of the Philippines quake

and didn't include the July 3rd 7.1ML South of Taranaki, NI, NZ yet either, still thinking about that one, can't understand how a 5.6ML offshore El Salvador converts to a 7.3Mw, but a 7.1ML offshore North Island, NZ, converts to a Mw = 6.3, Ms = 6.2 (usgs, gcmt el.al) something ain't right there.

For those of you in the know, I pose a question.

Is it normal to have as many mag 5+ aftershocks as they are having today in the Philippines??

Quite a bit of energy released today

edit on 31-8-2012 by radpetey because: (no reason given)

I am starting to wonder if that area is about to unzip....pretty powerful series of aftershocks.....or maybe it is following a similar pattern as the monster in Japan.

Radpetey, I would say its pretty normal.

I found this post and the videos on earthquake meridian migrations interesting...

thewatchers.adorraeli.com...

I'm honestly not sure how much of this theory is purely conjecture, or actually grounded on science... but I think that the idea of energy transfer directly impacting other areas is not far fetched. Thoughts? Opinions?

I'm thinking the site is sort of saying the earth has magnetic lines like an orange does, one with the little round inner orange at the bottom and another round energy circle at the top. That what sort of jumps at me, I could be misinterpreting it though.

Before even watching the video I think that the meridian would migrate as the poles shift. This entire rock is in flux and on the move constantly. Only man is stationary.

Those are typical aftershocks if I'm not mistaken.

No.worries. I was just putting my 2 cents in. What are the chances of another big one in the same area any time soon? That may be a stupid question, but I just had to ask. I know little about earthquakes and plate tectonics and the like.
