Just checked another of the earthquake sites and no mention of a 7.3, what the heck is going on?

this is odd, I use a program Earthquake monitor, since its fairly realtime'ish and the quake 7.3 has been removed, so are alot of other ones. odd i tell ya

I hope someone is saving all this stuff, I have saved a bit but was unaware things are being skewed this much.

Who knows, those sites probably lost the feed from USGS, its not that the quakes didn't happen

Better to go to the sources anyway, if its interactive maps you like then go here
earthquake.usgs.gov...
www.emsc-csem.org...
www.ga.gov.au...

those sites you look at only show >5% of the earthquakes in New Zealand, a waste of time IMO

My home page is USGS, but thanks for the links. I have been following tectonics among other things for many years.

Your post came across as if you were wondering if the 7.3 had been deleted.
Looks like you have a beef with the Global Incident map people then, why not e-mail them and ask!.
Good luck with that I've told them twice that there is no such place as Woodville County, NZ, but never got the decency of a reply and they still use Woodville County as a location for ALL NZ quakes.
Idiots

I can't help but notice, another earthquake in Iran?

They seem to be happening all of the time lately, and with all of the talks involving Iran, I can't help but feel cautious towards them. I won't mention the 4 we've had to the South near the Strait since the 5th. This one appears closer to Tehran.

Magnitude 5.1 - NORTHERN IRAN
2012 January 11 17:08:01 UTC

Depth
20.1 km (12.5 miles)
45 km (27 miles) SE of Amol, Iran
73 km (45 miles) ESE of Sari, Iran
91 km (56 miles) NW of Semnan, Iran
136 km (84 miles) ENE of TEHRAN, Iran

USGS

I notice that they aren't uncommon for the area, but still be watchful. Bad vibes.

I have about 3 differrent places to check, thanks. Looks like it is getting a little active again with a couple of 5s in Peru and Indonesia, according to USGS. Found another site as well for the anti-podal theory if you are interested.

You should perhaps read the end of this post first!

Still working on a theory but would like input as to what others may think,There was a 5.0 in Ecuador yesterday and the anti podal point for that quake was...you guessed it Sumatra.

Unfortunately there is absolutely NO way that a 5.0 in Ecuador could have ANY effect the other side of the planet. Whilst it is possible that a very large earthquake may have an effect. A mag 5 is about 2 TJ of energy which may sound a lot but I would believe the theory if you could show me the 5.0 showing on a seismogram at antipodal point. By contrast a 7.3 is about 3,981 TJ of energy just to give you an idea of the difference. THAT on will show up all round the world including the antipodes.

We have looked at this before and it is not proven, but like I have said before I am happy to look at the results of a study on this over a cuppa, but I am afraid Steve Quayle just does not do it for me.

I have been following quakes for a while now and believe that the sun and moon also play into this and possibly HAARP.

Items one and two yes, HAARP? Not a cat in hells chance. Sorry I don't hold with that one but if you can satisfy the challenge go here and leave your findings.

The reason I throw HAArp into this, and this is a big stretch so please easy on the flames but if anyone is into numerology I did a quick calculation and came up with this.

The quake happened on Jan.11/2012 which breaks down to an 8, 8 is the money number and who loves money?
The elites, or TPTB, could it be possible that HAARP is responsible?: This is the part that is a ;little out there.

(Sorry could not resist)

Right so, oops, the quake happened on the 10th. Guess that does not mean 8 then. 7 maybe? Even if it was 8, I love money so does that make me one of the elite? Let me explain something to you. The elite as you call them are not elite, they are the dregs of society, a cancer that feeds on everyone else. The homeless man is more elite than these scum. If you defer to them by thinking they are elite then they are, but personally I would introduce them all to a certain French madame.

Numerology is a fascinating hobby, but that is all it is although RbJ (aka AC) may not agree with me on that.

but would like input as to what others may think

Sorry, but you did ask

By the way, just as a final point it may interest you to know that there is evidence of very large asteroid strikes having an antipodal effect I believe. Sort of like punching through the earth to lift the other side.

Edit to add

By the way also welcome to ATS and to QuakeWatch. I may bark a bit and I can be very strongly worded but don't take it to heart. For the most part you will get much input on this thread, you just have to put up with me as well.

Here you will find some of the best information about earthquakes on the Internet. Why do I say that? Because the members who frequent this thread, and those who lurk and occasionally stick their heads up into the firing line on the whole produce excellent work that is based on facts.

You will find some of the alternative geophysical theories on this thread: Geophysics which is hosted by Zenius who you will also see on this thread.

Anything of a speculative nature to do with Yellowstone / Fracking / Arkansas / Bird Deaths / Hudson Bay / Life / Death / Resurrection / the Economy / Politics / Religion etc you can post on the thread hosted by Robin Marks/Eric Blair: Robinesque Ruminations

Volcano stuff you will find on Volcano Watch and last but by no means least the giant Yellowstone thread is a BIG read all about the Park that has passed page 700.

These and more ATS links, and links to many external sites you can find in my signature block and in the signatures of others.

May I explain how USGS works?

Larger quakes are often initially added under a different ID from the one they end up with. The mag 7.3 (7.2) was issued with the ID 12010000. It was after about 15 minutes or so deleted.

It was reissued under it's current ID number.

Some systems have problems with deletions and reissues. Global Incident is one of these and maybe Earthquake Monitor is as well?

Hmmmmm 1.5hrs ago and no phase data yet from USGS

earthquake.usgs.gov...

I'd go with JMA then

www.jma.go.jp...

Lots of 6's on the EMSC phase data but I see they have downgraded it to 5.9mb

Russians have Ms: 5.6 (18) Mb: 6.1 (19)
www.ceme.gsras.ru...

I think it was below 5.7 even, its hardly showing at all on LISS SNZO* certainly not in the 6 range

To early for this one in January ,but what date is tomorrow?

It is the 11th, but what does that have to do with the price of fish? Is there some hidden secret here I am not aware of? And why pray is this quake too early?
Just asking what date was, anyway I think that from now one the seismic activity in Japan will come to normal and those earthquakes are the sign of that.
