The Christian Right, for the fervor, just needs the right context to become just as headstrong, ignorant and violent as Muslim extremists.
Everyone likes shiny, flashy pictures from time to time, but use your grown-up words.
With all I said, I take it the only part that you found incorrect was my comment about religious fervor. Hell, it wouldn't even have to be a religion,
in the strictest sense. All you need is a group of people...a ready to go 'army' of believers or devotees to a cause. Again, the religious right in
the US is subdued because they are only for power broking by the politicians, if anyone with any grand schemes or notions were to come along, don't
think for one second that they couldn't be turned into a personal army with the right rhetoric and passion.
What does it matter what holy books say? Thou shalt not kill. If your enemy strikes one cheek, give him the other. That which is hurtful to you do not
do to others, etc. etc. etc. Blah, blah, blah. Even communism - not a religious doctrine - was idealistically molded by the right leaders, turning the
workers into a private hoard. And, likewise, the US army has been turned into the same gallivanting hoard of monsters, based on Flag Worship alone.
So, spare me the 108 verses of the Q'uran that deal with genocide. In the last century, the vast majority of the genocide has come from non
Muslims.
EDIT:
The Inquisition in the middle ages had little to nothing to do with Authentic Christians.
On top of that, it was essentially a political power play IN THE NAME OF Christianity.
There was nothing in the founding documents of Christianity to support such horrors.
That's not true about Islam. 109+ verses of the Koran exhorting genocidal murder is quite unique even for RELIGION.
I realize that even facts don't sway some folks and perspectives.
So, do you like, read the things people say, or just make fanciful assumptions upon reading one or two words. I did not even mention the Inquisition.
Let's call it even. The inquisition was a reaction to the invasion of Europe by the Muslims.
You claim the 109+, could you list them please? I mean, since you are the one calling for facts here. Jpegs and gifs are nice and all, but they're
kinda light on the meaning and substance. So, again, as you are the one who claims others are not "swayed" by facts, you seem to be a little light on
them yourself.
