A WAVE of bombings in Baghdad killed at least 57 people and injured around 200 more.

Twelve explosions went off in the worst violence to hit the country since a political crisis between Iraq's Sunni and Shiite factions erupted at the weekend.

A wave of attacks in Baghdad Thursday killed 57 people as Iraq faced a political crisis, with its vice president accused of running death squads and the premier warning he could break off power-sharing.

The apparently coordinated blasts, which left 176 people wounded, were the first major sign of violence in a crisis that has threatened the country's fragile political truce and heightened sectarian tensions just days after US forces completed their withdrawal from Iraq.

Thursday's incidents were a first major indication of escalation of violence in the country after US troops' withdrawal from the country. The last batch of US combat forces in Iraq crossed into neighbouring Kuwait on Sunday (Dec 18).

So the US just left a few days ago......and now this happens. Not to mention the VP...

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki has urged the Kurdish authorities in northern Iraq to hand over fugitive Vice-President Tariq al-Hashemi.

Mr Hashemi is currently in Irbil, under the protection of the Kurdistan regional government. The warrant was issued a day after US troops pulled out of Iraq.

Yea yea, Iraq looks to be a free-for-all right now....all I have to say, is good luck. Democracy is in full force right now!

Well, not claiming to be a psychic or prophet, but I did say as soon as US forces left, the Iraqis would seize their country back. Logic would tell you that.

Hmm, isn't that funny, out here they just declared the last war veteran to die out in Iraq, since Obama brought the boys back. hmmmmm Why sit there and declare, if it's only going to be a lie?

it's a sad day when grown men must be treated like children....but for the middle east i see no other solution. lets face it, they're f***ing crazy. like lord of the flies crazy.

children aren't responsible enough to form a coherent democracy, and the middle east is so war-torn and filled with strife that a more authoritarian rule/guidance is needed. we could have provided that, but we chose not to. now we've created a power vacuum which can only lead to more death.

By percentage Iraqi's despite being raped and pillaged by by satan scrotum, have a better quality of life than the 42m American's living on food stamps and several millions living in tents like bedouin tribes men,

This is the beginning of what you would call 10 years of PAYBACK.

Occupying troops have been terrorizing the country for a decade. Now it is their turn to start terrorizing the minority that supported the occupiers. What goes around comes around.

There were 2 or 3 bombings a week in Iraq during the 'occupation'...
(IED's, terrorism, etc)
So many, that here on ATS, no one even bothered to start a topic about it...
Yes, it's been quiet for the last few months, especially prior to this evacuation; but come on, are you seriously gonna try to push this rhetoric now?

No one has mentioned that this coincides with the arrest warrant for the iraqi vice president. This is a plot to scare the people from arresting the vp.

American back doors in Iraq just went in too much of a hurry to show that Iraq is not secure without US.

There are always back doors and good terrorists in Middle East to threat governmanets in Middle east.

I west of Iran there was P.K.K , Kumuleh , MKO , In the east we had Jundullah and Rigi terrorist groups.

There are several terrorist groups in every country in Middle east. They are easily bribed and brainwashed people.

I think Iraqi Kurdistan is going to take Iraq into a civil war.

Those people are just manipulated , bribed and affected by western media.

Oh man , you are just as brainwashed as those suicide bombers are.

The only difference is that they are living in a different place and they are needed to die for the PTB.
