The fact that his name is forever attached to a publication that produced racist content and the fact he may've just recently came out against it means jack squat as he apparently made an attempt to cover this up.

CNN did not "demic" him as he did it himself when the question's got hairy. Are the media supposed to put the "little kid gloves" for Paul and the GOP while being allowed to say whatever they want to a Dem? He couldn't take the heat and got burned by the frying pan. He is sunk.

I believe it a fair question for them to ask him about the newsletters, despite his repudiation of harboring any racist ideals the last time he ran back in 2008. So, he didn't just "recently" come out against it.

Furthermore, the CNN piece was a work of creative editing to make it appear that Dr. Paul refused to answer the question, de-mic and walk out.

I guarantee you that Dr. Paul can "take the heat". Frankly, I'd be getting a bit PO'd if every news station only wanted to talk about 20 year old newsletters that he did not author AND repudiated AND discussed 4 years ago AND stated that he is not a racist by a member of the NAACP AND has the appeal of more non-whites than any other candidate AND named a black man as a potential VP pick in 2008 AND has not uttered anything in any PUBLIC speech that would give credence to him harboring racist ideals.

Why do you and others want to cling to this so desperately? You're blinding yourselves from objective thinking. It's just racist, racist, racist to you. Are you really after his campaign or trying to destroy the man on a personal level? Obviously, you think he's lying or you wouldn't be as fervent in your responses to call him a racist at every opportunity.

Frankly, I wonder about people like you that are so fueled by your hatred, and blinded by this evil called racism that you, yourselves, haven't become (even in the slightest sense) that which you so vehemently decry.

Paul and McCain are a couple of months apart at most in age! The reason why Obama was chosen is because he's younger (was 48 when elected and is now 50) and is full of energy as we need someone whose younger as they are full of life and fresh ideals. Hence why he will retain the office by an expected landslide!

This is how we take the country down age as no more fuddy duddies, no more grandpas, no more grandma's, no more people that should be taking cruises living and enjoying their golden years instead of dictating and deciding on matters of national security and have access to the NUCLEAR FOOTBALL!

Watch the following video for Genesis' "Land Of Confusion" from 1987 and wait until the end whereas the Reagan puppet hits the nuclear launch button instead of the alarm clock. Do we really want this?

HaHa! Ron Paul is old enough to be my father and is in better health than I am, but I suspect you already know this! He challenged the other 2012 candidates to a 20-mile bike ride through Houston, in 100-degree weather, 100% humidity--no one took him up on his offer. He's an exercise fanatic!

Age is only a number: A baby can die today, a middle-aged person can die today, an older person can die today. Ron Paul's chances of surviving his term as President, due to health issues, are relatively high. In addition, I've seen no evidence of any impairment of his 'thought processes"...

Lets see if Ron Paul will answer the question about his situation first.
But I know Ron Paul Supporter strategy is to:

-Derail- "But the other GUY," "attack opposing view."
-Reject-, reject anything negative, or anything you dont want out in the public.
-Conspiracy- find any conspiracy even if it fails to make sense...Thanks Alex Jones.!
-Blame- blame other for presenting facts
-praise- their hero.

Very true. I remember quite clearly this being brought to light (although I can't quite remember if he got blasted for it before or after the election)./begin sarcasm Perhaps they should bring it up again and then they can keep bringing it up for 22 more years! They should totally disregard any answers he's already given and just keep blasting him with the same questions! Only good things can come of it, after all the media only wants whats best for us all, and the status quo is the only way! /end sarcasm

EDIT: Now the REAL question is if Ron Paul does get the GOP nomination....Fox News hates Paul and CNN/MSNBC would root for Obama. We could see all major media outlets blasting Paul, completely exposing the very clear and obvious agenda by the media/establishment. I truly believe this would raise a huge red flag and Americans would finally wake up. This would give Ron Paul a huge advantage giving him the nomination for pres by a landslide.

Whew! This 'fight for the hearts and souls' of men can be exhausting work. I would like to post one more excellent article, replete with numerous videos of Paul's stance on 'racism', then I think I should take a little break from all of this. I will probably come back later tonight, though, and finish reading this thread!!

If you take away the conspiracy line, then you got an Obama supporter like you. Actually, put the conspiracy line back, and make the conspiracy about how the rich want to hold the poor down. LOL! Nice job exposing your own kind guy. Now go bow down to your hypocrite hero Obama while he bombs Lybia.

Here are the newsletters so you can read them yourself. They contain quite a few clearly racist and homophobic remarks. They frequently use the first person pronoun, "I". Now, we have two basic choices here.

Either

1) Ron Paul wrote these newsletters and is lying about the whole thing, OR

2) Ron Paul did not write the remarks. They were written by and editor who pretended to be Ron Paul and Ron Paul never read the articles himself.

Which is worse?

It's really unlikely that a editor would have wrote that themselves, what would be the point of making such risky remarks and risking your job as the editor. Ron Paul wrote those racist newsletters, him denying it or his followers defending him will not change that.

He has performed his duties as a Congressman and a doctor for how long? What have all the other congressmen done in their spare time other than offer political advice to corporations bent on sucking the money out of America and accepting bribes, err......I mean......"contributions" or incentives. Have you ever worked at a publication before? Yes, he is an editor, but I guarantee, he didn't proof read. He probably only got the quick headlines of each article and not the substance, that is the job of the lower-end editors to proof-read and judge for substance. Do you actually think the President writes his memos or even his speeches? Presidents make decisions and sways the public and world opinions with leadership and charisma. The President mostly takes in information from his staff and advisors, practice diplomacy foreign and domestic, and makes the tough decisions that will hopefully lead us into the right direction as far as a society and country. Hell, most President's don't even dress themselves.

I guess him being a practicing doctor doesn't compare to the stress of being a suit for some corporation or a spokesperson for some defunct organization. I guess a guy who has barely had a chance to speak at most debates, with no televised commercials, barely any MSM coverage and has to work with a fraction of the money that these corporate backed candidates are getting is a lazy SoB who doesn't understand pressure. Oh wait, how does he do in the polls? Imagine what he can do if everything else fell behind him. Imagine if he does what he says he does. I'll gladly take a step back if it means going forward eventually.

I am completely convinced this is yet another MSM attempt at wiping out a candidate that scares the HELL out of the establishment

You do know that these newsletters are real, right??? That isn't up for question.

And they were written by Ron Paul's organization, with his name on the newsletters...the possibilities as to who wrote them are Ron Paul himself, his wife, his daughter, or his close political staffers and campaign managers.

Are you telling me that Ron Paul is so completely out of touch that he had no idea were in these newsletters written by someone very close to him (or himself)???

You also do know that he admitted that these quotes were taken out of context before he started to claim he didn't know about them and that he disagrees with them....right???

Wow, who knew this thread would go all over the place?

To the obvious Obama and neo-con supporters here attacking Ron Paul. We know who you are and we know you need an outlet like this in order to justify your own self-denial of being the real racists here.

To the people who keep stressing “The Facts.” The fact is, RP didn’t write the remarks…period!

And whatever happened to the “Views expressed disclaimer?”

"The opinions expressed in this article are those of the author, and they do not reflect in any way those of the..bla-bla bla.”

Did this paper contain this? I don’t know. But now we know why it’s widely used in almost everything today that expresses opinions…don’t we?

But what really burns me up the most is the fact that we have a candidate who is more for the common man, the individual, than any that has come along in decades and you just parrot whatever the MSM shoves down your throat. This man has fought for our civil liberties for years. How can anyone who has dedicated his life to doing this be a racist? Come on…it’s common friggin sense! Then again, I need to remember that even though this is ATS, a lot of people here still lack it…even people that have been here a lot longer than me.

How many here remember Howard Cosell? Mr. Cosell was the man who put Monday Night Football on the map. Mr. Cosell backed many minority athletes including Muhammad Ali when he refused to go to Vietnam as well as Olympic sprinters John Carlos and Tommie Smith after they raised their fists in a "black power" salute during their 1968 medal ceremony.

But what happened to Cosell after this…??

You guessed it!...RACIST!

But it’s good to know the truth sometimes before you listen to the media...especially when you label someone a racist!

rofl. Oh dear. Springer's on the RP train with us now too, woot!

The line in the sand has been drawn now at the highest reaches of the ATS power sphere! Skeptic, lookout, Springer's going to convert you to a Paulie! Wahaha.

It's not so bad, I promise. Look on the bright side of things: Once you support Ron Paul, that uneasy feeling of supporting a corrupt establishment shill vanishes into the midnight.

Ron Paul knew about the racist newsletters written in his name.
In a 1996 interview with the Dallas Morning News, which you can purchase at this link, Ron Paul shows clear knowledge of these newsletters and justifies what’s in them. Now if he didn’t know they existed, and if he had nothing to do with them, then how come he’s justifying them? Here’s his own words. (His standard answer about the newsletters now, is to deny that he knew about them. Here is his standard answer now in this link. He’ll also say they are old news. We deny this claim. This is not wiped away by saying, “It’s old news.”)

Dr. Paul, who is running in Texas’ 14th Congressional District, defended his writings in an interview Tuesday. He said they were being taken out of context.

Dr. Paul also said he did not know how his newsletter came to be ! included in a directory by the Heritage Front, a neo-Nazi group based in Canada. The newsletter was listed on the Internet under the directory’s heading “Racialists and Freedom Fighters.”
