This is in particular because there is a common belief that MAYBE Mars once had life millions or maybe billions of years ago.

Now let's just assume this being the case..and for the sake of debate we could also assume that we had a "high tech" civilization many millions of years ago on Earth..

What...if at all...would remain for us to "find"? Would everything be gone, withered away? Would structures survive millions...possible billions (!) of years?

WHERE (if at all)..could we find hints and remains? Mind you...such numbers are mind-boggling. Homo Sapiens is said to appeared only 200.000 years ago in Africa. So we'd be dealing with a "civilization" BEFORE man..before science..before history really. Man would (probably) not know anything about this.

The other question..simply in regards to "weather" (sand, wind etc..which also exists on other planets) whether it would wipe out anything within millions of years.

(By the way..thinking about it...i *think* if such would be the case..the only "evidence" we could find would be within stone...that some "artifacts" or similar are being found encased in stone...)

Only one place would any remains be found if at all, space. As relics would have a greater chance of surviving there than on a planetary body.

From what I studied about Egypt, there are cities under the desert that no one has been for thousands of years. Also the sphinx was under the dessert and only by chance was it discovered and dug up, many who live in Egypt and also people who have studied the sphinx think that it was built by an advanced civilization 8,000 to 10,000 B.C. This school of thought has been around for hundreds of years, but new findings give it more credibility. Recently, Graham Hancock, John West, an American scholar, Robert Bauval, and others have presented certain evidence that challenges the traditional thoughts about the Sphinx and the whole Giza complex.

There is a lot of Egypt that still needs to be searched, there is also I believe larger more ancient stone at the bottom of most of these sites, which many claim show evidence they were rebuilt upon, in other words distorted so people wouldnt know what they once were?

There are many sites aroound the world that were built to withstand time, and built for future generations its just history has been distorted so much by religions, wars and destruction that now we dont know what they were.

The fact that there is so much here on earth yet to be discovered in Egypt, Africa, Russia, China and the Oceans of Earth, means searching Mars and the moons of planets for evidence of lost civilisations seems a long way away.
