" The Iranian embassy in Damascus, in a statement released on Wednesday, confirmed news reports saying that five Iranian engineers and technicians have been kidnapped in Syria and called on the kidnappers to immediately release the Iranian nationals. "

Iranian Ambassador to Syria Mohammadreza Sheibani believes the kidnappers are seeking to apply pressure against Iran to engage in Syria's ongoing Civil War with intimidation and terror tactics.
