Of course it failed. You cannot change anything by sitting on street corners or closing docks. We tried in the 60's and 70's. It didnt work. And it wont. Its done.

Let them start a political party and make changes from within. That would work...by peoples votes and legal representatives.

Yeah, that hasn't been tried and failed yet either. The Tea Party is a wild success when politicians can hijack it.

Real change will come when the constitution is followed and our corporatist government is held accountable by the citizens. Not trying to hold the government, banks, and corporations accountable through senators and representative who are bought and paid for by corporations and special interest groups.

Again lack of understanding the context of the 99%. It's in this thread by the way.
Where's the proof of attempt to start a new political party? Not that I have a problem with that.
It can, by perception, get as far left as the right pushes.

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Occupy Wall Street movement in protest of the perception of corporate influence in government has spurred demonstrators in Cincinnati to form their own political party. Spokesman Tyrone Givens tells The Associated Press that he and other Cincinnati-based protesters traveled to New York's Occupy site to pitch the idea. He says the party is vetting six potential candidates for local office from Ohio, New York and Kentucky.

Ohio Occupy Movement Spawns Political Party

Agenda,for the people,Agenda,for the people,Agenda.................

How will the downtrodden of OWS pay for their political aspirations?

George Soros?
Unions?

Agreed. Socialism is also just another Illuminati/NWO bear trap. Marx was a troll, and a very successful one.

Quite amusing how some people on this forum didn't even consider it to last a week, let alone MONTHS on end like it has, its lost momentum now however (as it would be expected to eventually)

The movement woke many shut eyes, sure it had its downsides, but the upside was bigger than one city.

I don't get my info from MSM.

I get it straight from all the Occupy websites.

They want more government. Irony, but they demand more government oversight over corporate influence of. . . . . government!

They want student loan forgiveness.
They want mortgage forgiveness.

The list goes on.

Here's one of THEIR sites.
sites.google.com...

The Occupation has succeeded in ways you will never know.

Pssst! If we'll "never know" of these alleged successes, just how successful WERE they, really?

No star, no flag for disparaging people who at least tried to effect change.

"trying to effect change" implies some sort of action - that's what TRYING implies. It goes beyond mere drum-beating.

They tried to get attention, and absolutely nothing more. Instead of the "me" generation, they are the "look at me!" generation.

There is no one website for OWS. But there is a core message.

End Corporate influence.

Spend money on people, not corporations.

Corporations get TRILLIONS in subsidies, bail outs, and all sorts of tax incentives increasing the divide between the rich and the poor and all but eliminating the middle class.

In the mean time pensions, and all benefits you can list for the lower income of society is being cut off and wages are being decimated as all the good paying jobs are being shipped overseas.

The globalist banksters are bankrupting our nation... and OWS is about all of us pissed at what is going on!

As with elenin threads, participation is by user choice. If you find it silly don't bother with it. Seems pretty simple.

Ahhh... More of the 'You're with us or against us' approach. This IS a large part of what the public has not only been turned off by, but been outright alienated because of. I've never been one to blindly attack Occupy. FAR from it. I've often included constructive ideas and criticisms in my posts on the topic. However, it seems the decision was made among Occupy leadership (Enough about leaderless....try 'sharing' leadership of donated funds, for one example..and see how "leaderless" it suddenly becomes) quite some time ago that supporters are welcome and anyone else is the enemy to be attacked and put down by any means and at almost any cost.

That isn't a protest, it's a revolution. The worst part? It isn't a revolution FOR the majority, it's AGAINST them and the attitude seems to be that it's all for a better world, so the ends justify the means. Well... Ask yourself why the public isn't just beating a path to the camps and assemblies to throw their time and resources into it. This, right here, is your answer.....and it's enough to just cry about sometimes. Why? Occupy was, in my view, the last chance we had. There isn't enough time to mount another protest...and this one about shot itself.

You're a very vocal member of ATS and your username is Slayer69... shall I give weight to this.. is ATS a group of people who like Slayer and sexual number jokes?

A small but vocal group within a larger group doesn't hold much weight for the entire group, certainly not enough to dismiss or over-shadow the larger voice of the group.

I never said if you're not with us you're against us, not even close. I'm saying that I found elenin threads to be completely goofy most of the time so I stopped clicking them, except maybe for some guilty laughs but I don't think I posted in a single one ever because why bother? It didn't affect me that someone thought a comet was going to kill the planet.

I considered that you were born in 69, but the thought of a 42 year old who likes slayer enough to make it their username didn't cross my mind. I have slightly more respect for you.

If only you would use your.. passion.. for positive constructive means instead of one-sided generalized criticism.. trying to tear down OWS at every turn.

Nevermind, I just saw that you are still beating the public defecation drum earlier in the thread. You loose 2 points.

And thats what I called the "Cute Baby Kitten Defense" of Occupy.

Of course we all want corruption to stop. (That's the cute baby kitten) Who doesn't like cute baby kittens?

It's HOW they want to go about it that I have the problem with.

Their motivation isn't altruistic, it's selfish in nature dressed in a false front "fighting for the 99%".

Reality is a canvas.
Perception is the oils.
Occupy paints a very telling self-portrait.
