To the anti-OWSers that would be so happy for everyone to go back home and go back to sleep,

What are you doing to improve your neighborhood/suburb/city/country?

You all seem to have a go at the protesters for "having no answers", so what are your answers? What are you doing to promote your answers? What are you doing to try and effect change?

You are either happy with the current climate or not? If not, why are you not doing anything to try and change things?

If you are doing something, what are you doing?

What are your proposals for moving your country forward and how do you propose to go about creating change via "proper" methods?

Cheers

Part of the problem is the "all or none" partisan bickering, which is what that theory addresses - it presents a potential for everyone to get their own preference, without infringing on the rest. I don't mind a socialist state next door, as long as I can be assured that they'll keep their politics within their own borders, and likewise I'll refrain from expanding mine onto their turf. Heck, I'd probably even visit to sample the local cuisine.

That was the best solution I could come up with and I appreciate having Left and Right sit down with me and help me hash that out.

The "all or none" attitude has to go, however, or we're going to wind up eating each others cuisine without permission. If that happens, Unknown Soldier and I will without a doubt be eying each other across the dinner table in hell, over beer (probably stale - it's HELL, after all) and pretzels (probably burned), and ain't no one going to be the better for it.

Agreed. As long as we sit anticipating either side to show their throats we will accomplish little.

I think there's a good chance that the status quo change is coming, ready or not. What we DO with that is what will make all the difference between life and death. we can either kill each other off until meade in the halls of Valhalla is all that's left to us, or we can explore potential solutions such as that one, and hope for survival.

You might be right about the paradigm shift... If you are then I will be ready. But, honestly, I don't think anything is really going to stop the train wreck of a civil war that would develop out of this collapse.

I salute you!

Salute yourself, you contributed to that idea. It is yours as much mine.

I know that wasn't a reply to me but your post did bring something up. Several months ago, I did bash the Tea Party, I thought it was full of racists etc. I bought into the MSM portrayal and of course youtube videos confirmed those stories in my mind. A few ATS members set me straight and I let them, I trusted what they told me. Now that doesn't make me agree with TPM, I'm not a conservative and never will be, but I won't bash them especially now that I know what it's like to be on the receiving end.

I've been to both. I know what the tea party represented before they were bought out by the koch brothers. I spent lots more time and energy on Occupy. And I can tell you that there is much more to Occupy than it appears. Occupy is not over. It has not failed. Occupy might possibly be migrating south for the winter. But under no means should you discount the idea that Occupy represents. Perhaps it is best to think of Occupy as an awakening. Or the idea of an awakening. And idea's are bulletproof.

Before we can talk about the Occupy Wall Street movement we first have to understand the difference between outliers and the consensus. I think we can all agree that; if molotov wielding, looting protesters comprised a majority of the movement, then OWS would have been squelched long ago with the full approval of the public. In any open gathering outliers are to be expected. This minority will have a plethora of messages, and their misdeeds will be shone center stage by anyone whose interest it is to maintain the status quo. No it is not the delinquency of the outliers that interests me.
What interests me is the emerging consensus coming from these youth and those who dare walk with them. The idea, the growing awareness that something is very wrong is emerging in the minds of the majority, you're only seeing the bleeding edge as the young have-nots, the always polarized youth, are the first to speak up, and loudly they do. They come from a very different place than some of us, and many of them have little experience. It fuels their courage and acts as both their advantage and disadvantage.
The capitalist game has been won, and those few victorious elite have made their own set of rules. The collective is naturally waking up and, for now, politely asking for a reset.

The Occupation has succeeded in ways you will never know.
Isn't this more of a rant?

No star, no flag for disparaging people who at least tried to effect change.

What effect? What change? There is NO UNKOWN changes from this idiotic OWS nonsense. You should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking or hoping some type of change could occur by having a crusade of hippie low life bums hanging around public property that has to be maintained constantly for the rest of the american population. You don't understand and you don't care about the rest of the american population. You only care about your ideals that do more harm than good. Grow up and learn how to sacrifice with hard work. You are nothing more an "alley Rant".

You don't know me or what I am. At least I am not living in Disneyland - You are a truther? There's another useless hopeless and pointless bit of fabrication from a bunch of nut-so wack jobs with more time on their hands than brains. Name calling is usually below me but in your case I will make an exception. Wonder why the failed Tea Party people are so jealous of the OWS movement? So jealous they will try to call sour grapes when the grapes are really sweet. Sweet. OWS has had a large effect. Look at yourself. You can't stop talking about them.

It failed really before it began, no leadership, no set goals and no ideas in how to fix the problems the world is facing. Yes, we will likely see OWS come around again when the weather starts getting warmer again. These statements do not mean that I don't think corporations, lobby groups, unions have destroyed the economy...but I do realize that until meat meets metal nothing is going to change, and until I see some set goals from OWS, I in no way will support such a movement

(and with the lets spread the wealth and gimme attitude, I likely never will - those folks are as bad as the bankers)

Yes and that is exactly it! It is the same hand full in every OWS bash thread with the same rebuttals, straw man argument, adhominem attacks, personal attacks when all is lost and regurgitating propaganda for hours on end. It's hard not to notice. Dont believe me use search bar. yes there are movements i dislike and disagree with sure but what possesses one to go to such extremes? And the funny thing is as soon as you mention "sock puppet" the same people chime in on a dime defending themselves without being named.

I don't know if there is a protocol in shilling that states don't give yourself away or not but if so they are doing it wrong.

Maybe you can tell me since you seem to be the leader of the pack here why the people mocking OWS are such vain and disagreeable lot? What is with the complaining about sour grapes. What is it to them if someone else protests or feels like they have a legitimate complaint?

How can they comment on the effectiveness of a movement that is still reverberating on WALL STREET today and the effects of which will continue for many years. Nothing will be the same and how can anyone say it will. That is just flat out denial.

How can they lump all the OWS people together as if they were all unwashed hippys without jobs?

That's a little stupid, short sighted, and wishful thinking I guess.

I mean wouldn't that be like saying all the Tea Party "patriots" were either clansmen or white supremacists.

A lot of them were but to call the whole movement that would be a mistake and unfair - just like you and the bitter resentful mob posting are making broad strokes against OWS. Your denial that the OWS movement did nothing and had no effect is just plain wrong. You should probably widen your scope of knowledge and read some more of a variety of news sources. You don't get all the news on FOX.

It isn't the same here as it is in Canada. You guys get everything from your government. Jobs, education and health care. In this country people pay for that stuff themselves and since the prices are going up people can't even afford an education and that will leave our country behind the eight ball.

People who are against OWS are against Democracy and if you are against Democracy what are you for?
Never mind I know.

People here posting against OWS are in favor of Plutocracy and same old same old elitist entitlement.

Like you all are kidding someone. What a joke.

None of your links are peer reviewed but are in fact sourced to neo con propaganda web sites.

Ironic isn't it?

Actually predictable propaganda and logical fallacy.

You live by the Bizzarocode too?

With that said i have spent far too much time on this thread. And anticipate the OWS haters in the next OWS bash thread claiming it is over then too like before and the time before that and the time before that. Dont forget to bring the same rebuttals and dishonesty. Logic and fact is always on my side

Love it!!! Now you spin it with..............

YOUR "CARTOON" VERSION OF DENIAL

Peer Review ?

Peer review is a process of self-regulation by a profession or a process of evaluation involving qualified individuals within the relevant field

Ask the boy scouts about camping........they are experts.

..

The cartoon version of denial is illustration of the way you think. The whole "i know you are but what am i" come back has worn thin since you were a 4th grader. Try to at least win some of my respect in at least acting like an adult even if you are being fake. As you are very well acquainted with being fake i expect at least this much.

You are here

en.wikipedia.org...

In the Bizarro world of "Htrae" ("Earth" spelled backwards), society is ruled by the Bizarro Code which states "Us do opposite of all Earthly things! Us hate beauty! Us love ugliness! Is big crime to make anything perfect on Bizarro World!" In one episode, for example, a salesman is doing a brisk trade selling Bizarro bonds: "Guaranteed to lose money for you". Later, the mayor appoints Bizarro No. 1 to investigate a crime, "Because you are stupider than the entire Bizarro police force put together". This is intended and taken as a great compliment. Originally a normal planet, Htrae is now cube-shaped. This is due to the intervention of Superman, who - after being convicted of doing something perfect on Htrae, which would normally be a capital offense - pointed out that the planet was shaped like a normal spheroid and agreed to cube it if his sentence were commuted.

Guess the name calling is beneath you went out the window tonight? You make the same generalizations that you claim you are against.

It really doesn't matter, because just like the Tea Party, the public had little or no clue what it was about. Some might have a little knowledge, but really don't care....as long as they can keep on downloading apps for their Iphone they are alright.

Actually the cartoon was a childish response to me giving you the proof you wanted, and the proof you have decided not to acknowledge, being that its not "peer" material. BTW,what peer material is out there? Academic literature, journals on OWS? Thats right. There isn't any. Your Idea of "peer" material is Anonymous, a Guy Fawkes mask to hide behind, and a Old Superman Bizzaro comic......And you call me Childish?

See, there you are at it again. If your against OWS, your against Democracy.

I am against the elite, but I am also against those who think the government should look after everyone like they are babies and should have everything provided for them.

As to Canada and the government taking care of all those issues, come live here awhile and see how great all these social programs are. See how everything is falling apart, it is all well and good to have a free for all system....but who pays for it. Nothing is for free, we are but a few steps behind the US and Europe.

Call it whatever you want, I call it reality and the truth. Don't like it, don't believe it, be my guest. Go out and talk to people, ask them what OWS is about, see what kind of results you get.

You just did a excellent job of undermining yourself right there. You say i did not acknowledge your links? Oh i i acknowledged them as propaganda without credibility. You see that is how this works.. ATS you are suppose to back up what you claim with credible sources not rehashed opinions and propaganda handed down like a chain letter.

You have a problem with peer review? Well you wont like our debunkers then

Like being skeptical is frowned on, only when it does not bode well with you eh? Its even more funny that a DC comic has a better grasp on reality then you. Maybe critical thinking is not your cup of joe... ehem that socialist coffee

Oh boy more ows'ers beating their war drums Really people This charade has been most amusing

Heh heh I happened to catch a bit of an old Clint Eastwood movie from 1968. It was the height of the psychedelic fad. All the goofy flowers and ponchos and knee high go go boots. The women all looked like they walked out of a Cover Girl photo op, one was Twiggyesque with giant eyes and long eyelashes. There were plenty of references to '___' and grass and free love. It was hilarious to watch. It was so incredibly faddish, but of course ol Clint was his splendid cool self.
