I can understand why but the use of the N word in that film is probably one of the few that managed to pull it off tastefully. Obviously Mel being
Jewish helped but it really was only to show how stupid the racist whites were. I don't think it would pass today though, in spite of the humour. The
campfire scene is unfortunately indelibly etched into my brain.
