What gets you deemed a terrorist?

all right, so after hearing about the goverment being able to take you prisoner forever if they thought you were a terrorist, that got me thinking. what must you have done in order to be deemed a terrorist? what can get you imprisoned?

This is the lesser approach to the question.
I like to explain it this way.

In 1983 my Dad told me that something had changed, and now "we are all law breakers. It's just a question if they choose to enforce it or not." So there is no way to avoid being charged, labeled, or even found guilty of any number of things. Things which you either never heard of or were totally uanware could even exist. Now that there is the even deeper layer of accusation that includes the word terror, the government has a wide range of laws with adjustable levels of heavy handedness with which to apply it.

Every wonder why open exchange of ideas and invention is drying up in this country.

I don't know about 1983 as the start date for the change, but I joined the service about then and by the time I got out(pre-clintonista era) the nation was different. We lost something during my time abroad. The nation became lazier, less self reliant. People were "meaner", yet more "wussified". People seemed less aware of international events and national politics. Sound bytes replaced honest discourse. I think our nation lost it's soul.

You're only "radicalized" if you're pissed.. but if your rage becomes popular uncontrolled legit organic opposition to power.. big enough to appear on their radar, then you're a terrorist.. or pedophile tax evader with child porn infested hard drives. Or burn to a crisp in a plane crash.

also.. violently oppose the offensive sight of foreign occupiers in you're neighborhood, now you're a radicalized jihadist insurgent Taliban-banana terrorist!!.. with links to freedom hating Iranian North Korean members of Hezbollah Pakistani al-queada..

My conspiratorial mind tells me we're being baited.

not agreeing with the U.S regime makes you a terrorist.

Not "a terrorist," but a terrorist who has substantially supported AQ or the Taliban. Other terrorists like the KKK or ALF don't count. Up till now, the administration has been able to determine who is or is not a covered terrorist on their own. Under the FY2012 NDAA, they are required to explain their determination procedures to Congress. If your Congressman voted for the NDAA, be sure to thank them.

This pretty much sums it up. "If you are different than the rest of society, than you're probably a terrorist."

However, in reality many of the laws seem worded in such a way that you don't really *have* to do anything. Coming to the attention of or raising the ire of someone with some degree of power who can say, "This guy is probably a terrorist" is likely enough to get you locked away.

Its not even your word against their's. You don't get a word, you don't get a trail, you just get a cell. Somebody with the power to do so giving the word is all it takes.

Generally, this would be considered the very epitome of a "tyrannical regime." Or a "repressive police state". Or a "despotic regime" Funny, huh?

Somehow, everyone seems to just accept this as normal. That's the scary part.

Some actual qualifications taken from this FBI flyer:

-- Make numerous references to the US Constitution
-- Defenders of US Constitution against federal government and the UN
-- Groups of individuals engaged in para-military training


Some more qualifications:
-- Missing fingers on their hands
-- Has guns and ammunition
-- Has more than 7 days of food in their house
