On the 22nd of December, winter begins at 5:30 AM UTC in the northern hemisphere and this event has long been seen as a turning point when the old year dies and a new year is born. From that point on, the days will be longer and our nights gradually shorter.

This contest asks you to write a short story concerning Death and Rebirth. It can be personal, political, religious or centered upon nature and the universe itself.

All T&C's apply

Title must contain [D&R]

Enter as many stories as you like, but post them as seperate threads in the
Short Story forum.

No upper or lower word count limits

Any writing form acceptable

There will be three winners chosen, based solely on the number of flags their story receives from your fellow members.

The contest runs until midnight, January 5, 2012 and the winners announced the following morning of January 6.

Winners only will get writer status, 5 'applauses' each and included in the Showcase of Winners.

Good luck.

masqua, does the "prize" thing mean that those who already have writer status are ineligible? Just asking. Excellent idea. Looking forward to the responses...

No... everyone can enter the contest. Staff, writers, new members and the Ghosts of Christmas's Past are more than welcome to join in on the creativity.

Here's mine > Very Bad Santa

I enjoyed writing it more than I expected.

All the best to whoever else has a go.

Here's mine-- The New Life.
Be warned though, it is very long. I didn't realize it would take six or seven posts to put the whole thing up.

Well done everybody especially Stone Butterfly and Kandinsky and er, me.

Thanks to everyone who read my story and flagged it - the encouragement I receive on here really spurs me to write more. Not necessarily better, but certainly more than I would without a bit of a kick-start

Thanks again Masqua - you know what I want to know next, don't you......

Very nice and thank you very much

I enjoyed a lot of the entries and SnFd every member who took part. Regardless of the bribery reward, it's been fun to do a little writing and especially to see another side to members who I see on the forums.

So a big to all participants, the winner and anyone who flagged my tawdry tale.
