Racial studies a scam?

I suppose it comes down to the question: is it racist/bigoted to reduce the world and it's history and functions down to race?

Middle Eastern studies and Asian Studies are studies of region, not of race.

African American studies is, I guess, a subset of African studies. Which is, again, a regional study not a racial one.

Black people in the media: sounds like racial studies to me. Current Phd subject of Lenny Henry british comedian.

One would think that racial studies classes in largly white nations would be attended by mostly white students there to learn about other races. However if you go to a black studies classroom at any majior US school you will find it mostly attended by black students looking for an offical definition of themselves in the american culture.

There are. It is called European History.

European history isn't really just about white people. Eurropean history includes the effect it has on the world. We live in one world and any attempt to separate races, nations, or identities is too simplistic and reaks of idealism. Like it or not we are one.
