It should boggle my mind as to why the U.S doesn't have free healthcare like all other English speaking and alot of non English speaking countries. But for some reason it doesn't.

Perhaps you guys protests over the wrong things.

The media tells them what to think. Unfortunately the media in the Western world has been bought and paid for by big business.

Health Care Lessons From France

At half the cost of U.S. health care, France offers universal coverage without sacrificing choice.

The World Health Organization survey found that France ranked 1st in terms of health care while the US ranked 37th.

I have read elsewhere that US health care, typically costs twice as much as in Europe but with only the same or lower level of quality.

That isn't a knock at US healthcare. It's a knock at all of the people creaming off huge profits for little in return.

It all becomes a lot clearer when you realize that the USA is not a Country, but a Corporation. The citizens of the USA do not have the same rights as those in other English-speaking areas

Hey my friend took real sick for a bit while she was on a trip in England. Just handed her Aussie medicare card details over and all was sweet.

What's there to sneer about.

You got to love Reciprocal Health Care Agreements when you're packpacker.

US Healthcare is about PROFIT, not Health

The inconsistencies are clear; they won't treat an uninsured person who's been run over by a car, but care so much about giving a ridiculous number of vaccines to every child. This is why USA has such a shockingly bad infant mortality rate compared to the rest of the developed nations. They give more vaccines than anyone else, they give more than twice the number of vaccines as all of the countries that have better infant mortality rates

New Study Finds Direct Link Between Vaccines and Infant Mortality

Vaccines are a way of injecting healthy people with disease, to increase long term Big Pharma profit

For anyone that ever gets in a similar situation: ask around about different ways to pay a hospital bill like this. Most of the time, hospitals will be more than willing to work with you, but just make sure that you act sincere, and not like you just want to bum the system.

Its ridiculous how expensive medical care in the US is. 6 years ago I had cancer. 1 year worth of treatments (chemo, radiation, blood work, PET/CT scans, and doctor visits) was $300,000, and my dad had AMAZING insurance at the time.

I pay taxes that contribute to health care. Our standard of living is as good or better than America's ('cept we can't get those Hostess fruit pies...but I digress). My radiation cure for prostate cancer cost me $32 out of pocket....parking at the hospital. Y'all deserve the same...it ain't perfect, but it works. It's a right, in a civilised country.

The US will keep spending their money (tax-payer's money!) on its military until it is BROKE. (Like it's not broke already...lol).

And as long as they keep spending BILLIONS for their wars and at the same time NOT realizing it *might* maybe be smart to actually spend money on their OWN people (for a change) - as long will this country keep going down the drain.

More people w/ debt, more people w/o health insurance, more people broke because of medical bills will only increase the problems America has already.

The problem here is that MANY people in the states don't realize this! They seem totally contempt and fine seeing their gvt spend billions for the military...but as soon as someone starts voicing it MIGHT make sense to increase spending towards the social sector (the actual PEOPLE!)....you can bet there is quickly some screaming heard that this cannot be because it would mean the US is turning towards socialism or communism.

Seriously..i gave up long ago to "understand" their logic and reasoning. Those people need to wake up and #OWS whatever obviously is not enough.....maybe they *really* put something in the water to make the people stupid and unable to see the obvious...

All of which would preclude someone who is unaware that "noone" is not a word and the proper spelling is "no one." I will dispense with detailing the misuse of grammar, spelling, punctuation and the use of profanity.Shalom.

We already know they can't write...you gonna get on spelling now too? My extended experience in a university environment taught me that expertise in a field and adequate spelling do not necessarily go hand in hand. Frankly, as long as one is a good doctor and not prone to spelling "oral" A-N-A-L, and such...who cares?

And we all complain about the parking....I was in for a week and my husband paid about $100 all total. I am sure that is where the extra money is coming from to support health care. $7/hour!!!!

Ok, in your area, I stand corrected.
In my State, CNAs are paid around what I stated.

One of my long time friends is a CNA, working on his LNP.
Good money, to say the least.

Ok, please show me an example where the Govt runs something correctly.
You know, without red tape, corruption, huge costs and so on.

And if the Govt decides to ration it, you are at their control.

No thanks.

Trading liberty for a false sense of security is a bad deal, in my eyes.
But, you have fun with that.

Oh, I get it.
Either now or later, basically.

When rationing comes your way, when the Govt can't take enough money to cover the costs, YOUR brethren will just be denied service.
Here, at least people get the care from the beginning. They are just required to pay for it.

Ok, I guess.

I'm done arguing with you. If there is one thing I learned on this forum, is it's impossible to reason with the "the black helicopters are following me" types.

I hopes your paranoia doesn't ever get too out of hand.

A simple "I can't provide that" will suffice.

Since you went into the hospital for a non-emergency and elective surgery, knowing you didn't have insurance, did you think to ask for an estimate? You know, hospitals are just like any other business, and you can ask how much something will cost in advance.

Or, did you just think it was going to be free?

Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy are not emergency services. You certainly had time to plan and make payment arrangements.

However, I will tell you that what a hospital bills an insurance company can often be DIFFERENT than what they let you see, or what they actually pay the hospital. Those numbers are the normal and customary charges, and not necessarily what the Hospital ultimately gets paid. Probably in the nature of 65% LESS than what you see.

are you seriously questioning my spelling of no one? implying i'm not an MD? i have a somewhat laggy keyboard

and rushed approach to everything i type. lots of spelling errors. i used to be on staff - like a

LOT of folks here - at a harvard teaching hospital. i am not telling you more. you really think

i am not a physician? wow. listen - if you know anything about medicine - you can tell me what waveform

torsades de pointes looks like on ekg. better yet, let me know what you think about the benign, rare

clival lesion called ecchordosis physalifera. then we can talk.

I got riled by how much that hospital bill was - and some here say this thread was based on a hoax anyways.

I'm seriously questioning everything. I may only be a lowly mailroom clerk but I do have a basic understanding of spelling, grammar and how to craft a few lines of prose. I also know that if I issue a challenge, say the clinical significance of "ecchordosis physalifera" that I will make sure that I spell it correctly.

I would expect more attention to detail, and a greater command of the English language from a medical doctor; I would imagine patients would expect it as well.

Shalom.

Fishing licenses. The government runs that correctly. The U.S. government needs to either back off and out of health care completely and let the free market bring it back in line, or just take it over completely and make it like Canada or the U.K. Hunting licenses. They do that correctly too.
