New York Times - Chinese Village Locked in Rebellion Against Authorities

Spasms of social turmoil in China have become increasingly common, a reflection of the widening income gap and deepening unhappiness with official corruption and an unresponsive legal system. But the clashes in Wukan, which first erupted in September, are unusual for their longevity — and for the brazenness of the villagers as they call attention to their frustrations.

Despite the government’s best efforts to control social media outlets, such frustrations have only grown as millions of Chinese gain access to unofficial sources of information and use new tools to organize protests.

Last year, there were as many as 180,000 outbursts of what sociologists here describe as “mass incidents”: strikes, sit-ins, rallies and violent clashes that have mushroomed alongside China’s breakneck economic expansion. Government figures from the mid-1990s put the number of such episodes at fewer than 10,000.

Occupying China

Hey occupiers, occupy this. According to a New York Times report, there is a real occupation underway by incredibly brave people protesting real income gaps in a country that professes that, thanks to draconian socialist government control, including the number of children a woman can bear, well...no such things exist.

Hardy and brave people with serious issues to protest. This is what a serious protest is all about .... REALLY serious issues .... and strong people to (hopefully) bring in real positive change. These are people struggling to breath in a closed socialist/communist regime. God bless 'em.

Explanation: S&F!

This is one of the issues I DO NOT SUPPORT the Chinese Authorites on!

Personal Disclosure: As an admitted Chinaphile OL is willing to give China a hail mary pass on some dodgy issues ... but this cuts to the core of my being and there is no way I endorse the actions being taken by those in power!

Go Occupy China! May the Wukan Villagers PREVAIL and live 10,000yrs longer than anybody currently being TPTB in China right now!

P.S. Directly at TPTB of China ... OL was unaware that Noble Dragons ate their own children!

Here is how to fix that ok ... decentralize and decartelize your currency how ever you see fit because Deng gave the People of the People's REPUBLIC of China a free market Capitalism economy so that you guys could all stay in power without China dissolving into an internally driven Civil War!

Don't mess that up by trying to grab back the power of the money from the PEOPLE because it is they and not you who are the powerhouses in your economy and if they are rich ... by default so are you and the country itself!

Besides there is no time for this as external pressures are almost at maximum and IMO China can't afford to have a divided focus wibetween internal and external conflicts.

Please maintain INTEGRITY!

Only a matter of time before this happend. The chinese government really needs to watch out. They can't keep on letting this happen, if they do, they will have an uprising on their hands. I hope something good comes out of this, these chinese farmers have every right to be angry.
