Ah, well thanks then. It seems it's the same old garbage that keeps him from getting any time at debates, so he has to resort to the Tonight Show. While it's some time for him to actually speak without being interrupted, it only goes to show what sort of target audience he is aiming at.

I wouldn't call common sense garbage...but I'm not American either so...people with this kind of thinking is exactly why politician's of this caliber don't get elected. As for "resorting" to the Tonight Show, well what would you do if you were largely ignored by the MSM but NOT by the people voting? Smart move on his part and on Leno's part. Target audience of 18 - 49 year olds? Perfect! Get all the young kids voting...I would like to see what the ratings were for that particular episode though! Got anything smart to say or just don't like the man?

Superman, our friend, Supine is apparently unaware that appearances on talk shows like the "Tonight Show" by presidential candidates during a campaign is not a new occurrence.

What I absolutely LOVE about the Ron Paul campaign this time around is that it has actually given me hope for the future of our country. I suspect that others feel the same way. I have been so jaded for so long by the snakes that have monopolized the White House and Washington.

Is Ron Paul going to change things overnight? No, he even explains it in the interview. It's a team effort with the people, he can't do it alone. But he can try, and I believe he'll tell the people what's happening. If he gets stonewalled by the congress we will know about it in no uncertain terms.

Thanks for posting up that video, it totally made my day seeing Ron getting his message out there in a clear and non-hostile environment.

To the naysayers/provocateurs: One very important point to remember is that (on any issue) it is not about 'what Ron Paul thinks', except the issue of constitutional powers afforded the Federal government. He has no interest in crafting government policy based on Pro this or Anti that.
He of course has personal beliefs, but his position and intent is to refresh the government with a return to the original powers and authority as designed in the foundational documents. We are so far removed from what should be that we think "going back" is some crazy notion.

A page or two earlier someone wrote "Ron Paul thinks states should be able to ban gay marriage?!" This is a perfect example of seeing it wrong: What is more in-line with real freedom, a state choosing for themselves a position on an issue, or a federal government mandating what our position will be, like it or not?
Me, I'd be happier participating in and abiding by laws originating locally than feeling ineffective and removed from laws forced on me from Washington. If it was unbearable, I have the freedom to move or rally my position with my community to effect a change. When was the last time you felt that you could do anything notable to change lawmaking from Washington?

I love what he said about giving aid, and that it should be none because the poor people of his own country could use it instead of the rich people of the poor countries!

I wish the UK would take note of that one!

This was an amazing showing by RP!

I really hope this will get Ron Paul's name out there to people that may not have paid much attention before. He came off as a good guy, witty, funny, and 100% for the people.

I am really jealous that you got to be in the audience!

These are my favorite parts of the show.

LENO: What roll should the federal government play in people's lives?
PAUL: Its very minimal, but we have a document that tells us exactly what it should be, and thats the Constitution. Anybody that can read should know. The most important part of the constiution, that tells us exactly what to do, is article 1 section A. It lists 20 things that we are allowed to do, and what we're not allowed to do is reserved for the people and the states. In general it's to preserve liberty, to allow people to run their own lives, to spend their own money.

LENO: Are you for legalizing marijuana, or the states right to legalize? PAUL: The states certianly have some authority to regulate alchohol and drugs. As a federal matter there is nothing that says they the federal government has the autority to do it. As I said before the role of the federal government is to protect liberty, that means they should protect our religous liberties to do what we want, our intellectual liberty, but it should also protect our right to do to our body what we want, you know, about what we take in to our bodies. LENO: Even if its harmfull to you?
PAUL: Thats right, and really the government can't protect us from ourselves. If they imbark on doing something like that the government is totally out of control.
LENO: Would you be against seatbelt laws?
PAUL: Yea, sure, im for seat belts, but against seatbelt laws. Its a wise thing to do that, its a wise thing to not use drugs too, I mean, I have kids, and grandkids, and I think its terrible to use these drugs, but I want people to make their own minds up.
PAUL: The worst part is when the states come to the point where they say marijuana is helpful for medical reasons, and I beleive that is the case, the state legalizes it. Then you have the federal government come in and override the state laws, thats really way over the top. quite frankly, I think a lot more people die from it, and there is a lot more danger with the alchohol than there is with the marijuana.

LENO: ...how about gay marrage, how would that fit in?
PAUL: My position on marriage is that the government outta stay out of it completely and quit arguing over it.

LENO: (speaking on ending the IRS) What would our main source of revenue be?
PAUL: Where it came from before 1913. Nothing can happen on the tax code. The tax collection is sympton of an appitite for big government. So the people have to change their mind, if the people want us to be the policement of the world, and have welfare from cradle to grave, no you cant get rid of taxation and we'll continue on until we are totally bankruput and our currency fails. But if you want a constituationl government you really dont have to have an income tax. But the people really have to make up their mind, one person in Washington can't change the whole tax code.

LENO: You're for cutting foreign aid as well, tel me about that. How much do you cut?
PAUL: All of it. Foreign aid, theres no proper authority. I argue that in the most part foreign aid takes money from poor people in this country and gives it to the rich people in the poor countries...

Peace,
DC

I loved this vid. It shows Ron Paul to be just an average guy, like us. He is endearing himself to the young people in ways that none of the other candidates could even imagine. No fluff...just common sense

You Ron Paul supporters crack me up. It reminds me of the same phenomenon of when Obama first came on the scene. All anyone EVER has to do with you people is tell you EVERYTHING you want to hear, and you line up in droves to make the same mistake OVER and OVER and OVER.

Its like you have absolutely NO MEMORY of history...

Ron Paul was great on the show. I hope he wins. I doubt things can be fixed, but Ron Paul is our best chance to fix the country. The practice of ignoring the constitution and ignoring court rulings by congress and the President will eventually destroy the country. Ron Paul is a back to basics guy.

Great interview. Im glad to finally see Ron Paul getting some decent screen time and not being made out to be an idiot regarding his Foreign Policy.

He needs lots more of this sort of stuff. He is a genuine guy, I hope the USA wakes up and elects the only candidate that can change not only the USA, but the World.

I saw the video earlier today and it made me very happy. Not a big Leno fan(Letterman all the way baby) but I would have gone to THAT taping.

Ron always has the most genuine answers of any "politician" I've seen.

Yes, that is exactly what I am getting at. He does need to shore up support for people that are outside of that target audience. Unless he does, I'm afraid he's completely wasting his time, and everybody elses time, too.

This type of commentary is so based in totalitarian philosophy and is a summation of what is wrong with the current situation in the US...People who have the nerve to sit back and criticize with nothing of merit to offer...

You go vote for your guy...we will vote for the person we think will best serve the country as the President...

That is the point of the election process...to vote YOUR CONSCIENCE!!! Not to vote for who you think can win...You have no conscience and your commentary shows it...

Why don't you take the time to give us a history lesson there, trixie...

Ron Paul's approach to government is consistent and has been...his record stands and it is consistent across the spectrum...Keep laughing...we will vote our conscience...
