This a story about a young girl lived with foster parents after her mom and father were killed in an accident. I guess she never adapted to the change. I call it,
"Julies Prayer"

A little child knelt on the floor, beside a worn out bed.
With tear filled eyes so pitifully, they watched her bow her head.
"Dear God" she prayed in solomn tones, "I know you will hear my prayer"
"For though I'm blind and all alone, I know that you are there"

"Mom read me The Bible and Daddy told me of your love."
"They said your always watching, from your kingdom high above."
"So please hear my prayer as Mom said you could do"
"Please take me to heaven, to live with mom, dad and you."

It was on the following morning, when the night had turned to day.
They knew that God had heard her prayer, for He had taken her away.
Yes their harts are saddened, and they just can't seem to forget.
That little girl with golden curls, they are thinking of her yet.

Yes I too am hurting for the love I cannot share.
My mind can't erase the tear streaked face,
or the words of little Julies prayer.

Smiling. I just wanted to thank whomever may have given the flag. I am glad "Julie" isn't here to see this

Seriously though, thank you...

OP: it's a sad story when a child wishes for death. Not that a child would know what they were doing; just that those questions shouldn't even enter a childs' mind. To want to be somewhere else in happier times and not to really know what that somewhere else means is understandable. Still I wish it could have been different.

You are correct Luxordephi. I added some fiction in this poem but the little girl was talked about by Mother and Grand Mother when I was a little boy, From what I can remember she would say she wanted to be with her real Mom and Dad and she was found deceased in bed one morning. I feel as a writer it's ok to push the enveloupe in a harmless way at times.Thank you for your words and Merry Christmas to you forever
