Activated more fully is not a military term.

Active duty personnel are the people that volunteered to serve full time in the military until their enlistment is up.

Activated personnel sounds more like the reserve, guard, or inactive reserves.

A newly activated troop will not be privy to operational secrets unless its a routine deployment or low level operational orders unless its a "need to know" commander and his staff. I can't stress enough that the military does not give all its personnel military secrets and lets them yap about it.

Someone is grandstanding as we use to call it

It is probably the thread poster's words and not his 'source.' Every time I used the acronym TDY my family would automatically assume it was deployment. Whenever I told them that I would be going TDY to Korea for 6 weeks they would say, 'So-and-so's being deployed to Korea for 6 weeks.' I call the barracks the dormitory, but they still call it the barracks. If the thread poster had any family in the army, he would call it activated. My folk still ask me if I'm being activated any time soon... I just go with it. When your NCOIC tells you that you may be gone for Christmas again, he'll be hella pissed. I'm sure he assumed that it was for Syria and relayed that info to his troops/men.

That's more than a little puzzling to me that someone, anyone, can be soooooooooooooo

EMPHATIC

about something even as seeminlgy straightforward as that.

1. The military is enormously complex with units that base CO's know nothing about . . .

2. There are puzzle boxes within puzzle boxes.

3. There are subtrafuges within subtrafuges.

4. Perhaps the OP is mistaken. Perhaps not. I also don't see how MISTAKEN = HOAX.

4.1 Seems to me like far too many ATSers are far toooo in love with the word "HOAX."

5. I'm not God. I don't have omniscience about it.

6. Given that, I don't see how anyone can be soooooooooooooooo CONFIDENTLY soooooooooooooo EMPHATIC.

Sheesh.

Well, I guess its a good thing that nobody is waiting for you to make the call.

I wouldn't expect someone who has clearly not served to have a clue one way or the other beyond poorly reasoned internet kiddy conspiracies either.

Fortunately for the readership, not everybody commenting fits the latter hence the multiple requests to bin the thread as fictional.

While I may not be privy to anything important or current regarding the subject, I can emphatically state that I know more than enough about how it works and what has to happen to be very sure that the OP's story is tripe.

Understand?

Regarding your own story, . While it may be news to you that the U.S. may have assets and/or interests wherever there________ may be, I can also promise it is common public knowledge easily found by anyone interested.

For obvious reasons, OPSEC violations are taken extremely seriously in all facets of the military, from the joint chiefs all the way to the lowliest corporal first time team leader.

Specialist and operatives with the security clearances to know operational details beforehand don't gab to their wives, parents, ex colleagues, whomever the where, when and for how long.

In real world emergencies, troops are sequestered to their bases and given very little heavily monitored contact with anyone except their peers. Quite often the grunts aren't told where they are deploying until enroute and totally out of contact with the civilian world.

My guess is your buddy is a reservist or guardsman being sent to do his particular mundane job.

Please don't let me stop you though, It sounded better when you purposely muddied the details.

Gotta love it. If Obama achieves world peace he's killing military jobs.

First he's too weak and making the US a pushover weak nation.

When troops are deployes he's a war mongering commie putting soldiers at risk.

I can understand political ideology, but stay consistent guys. For a day at least.

You seem to be confusing obnoxiousness for strength. It's entirely possible, and usually likely, that either is present in the absence of the other.

Hey what's up bro? You really need to get your Home page up for private messages.

Anyways I was curious so I did a little fact checking just to see what how Gore really said about the Internet.
What Al gore said about his part in the creation of the Internet
It does make a good joke. Anyway Merry Christmas.

Like most things on here I don't think there's anything to worry about.

There is talk about civil war possibilities being higher then ever in this region, so what does Obama do? Puts American soldiers in harms way again in a place we have no business being and just days before Christmas to boot.

America needs to get back to the founders idea's of isolationism and stop trying to take over the dam world.

The U.N needs to be told to take a hike and get out of America and this Dictator of a President needs to go, not just out of office but go to jail for the many wrongs he has committed in this once Great Union.

We need a Republican President so you can spend 10 years in Iran...

Good Luck

No we need Ron Paul so we can get the hell out of foreign nations unless congress officially declares war on said nation....

Why are they stupid enough to go. Has all the people of the US forgotten how to say no. Resurrection Hell no we won't go needs to be implemented again. Only way out of this insanity is to stop going alone with it.

Maybe because it takes time for Patriotic Military Men and Women to start to realize, the people who govern them...are straw men with tin badges. That's a bitter pill to swallow.

Actually its time for civilian populace to wake up and understand how the government works. You also need to understand how the military works soldiers are not going to abandon their duty and leave in dishonor because there are people on Internet blogs saying they should. The American people know how to say NO they say it all the time.

Will you write your congressman and senator or write president will you organize people so that your voices will be heard. 90% of the time the answer is NO.

Those same people who expect everything but do nothing will blame the honorable soldiers the men and women who have volunteered to serve their country for not standing up to the politicians. I know what excuses will be before people even say them. Usually it will go along the lines of it doesn't matter, writing does nothing, or the system is broke etc. etc. these same people almost unequivocally have never even tried. The fault lies with the American citizens who are full of complaints but too lazy and complacent to go out and be heard.

A soldier cannot be a activist they have taken an oath unfortunately most people do not understand why that means.

Yeah that has already been used as a source. And no one can tell us WHAT COURT. What is the docket number. And why is there a court in the US trying anyone in absentia?

Since no one wants to answer these questions, or CAN answer these questions, then it is BS.

On that same thread another poster posted this link

Can you get the name of the judge and court from that?

Wow, you see, leftwingers show their ignorance every time they make these sort of claims...

Shall we see what wars Democrats have given us?...

Wilson gave us WWI,

Roosevelt gave us WWII,

Truman gave us the Korean war,

And Johnson gave us Vietnam...

BTW, it is extremely ironic on how leftwingers forget that CLINTON started the second Gulf War, not Bush...

Clinton ordered the bombing of Iraq, which in ANY country it is considered an act of war, and Clinton made several speeches to form an alliance to oust Saddam BEFORE Bush Jr. did...

Bill Clinton gave us Bosnia, the invasion of Haiti, and the second Gulf War.

On June 26, 1993, Clinton ordered a cruise missile attack on the Iraqi Intelligence Service's (IIS) principal command and control complex in Baghdad, publicly announced as retaliation for the assassination attempt by the IIS on ex-president George H. W. Bush while he was visiting Kuwait in April of that year to commemorate a coalition victory over Iraq in the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Fourteen cruise missiles were launched from the USS Peterson, nine were launched from the USS Chancellorsville. 16 of the missiles hit the target, three struck a residential area, killing nine civilians and wounding 12. Four of the missiles were unaccounted for.[20] This strike was in violation of international law, although that point is contentious.
...
In December 16-19, 1998 Clinton ordered four days of concentrated air attacks against military installations in Iraq. After the bombing, Hussein blocked any further UN inspections and announced it's attempt to shoot down coalition planes in the Iraqi no-fly zones. For several years afterward, U.S. air assaults continued to target defense installations in Iraq, in response to what the Clinton administration claimed wereprovocations by the Iraqi military, including antiaircraft fire and radar locks on U.S. planes and missiles.

en.wikipedia.org...

The deadliest war under a Republican President was The Civil War, and since both sides were American citizens, it has made it the deadliest war American citizens have been in. However, because of this war slavery was eradicated, despite the rich DEMOCRAT plantation owners in the south who wanted slavery to continue...

Marxist want a PERMANENT REVOLUTION, one in which peace can only be achieved by the absence of all opposition...

Marxist want a permanent "proletarian war", and btw rich people to Marxists includes anyone who owns any land, or owns any properties, including small business owners and regular people who happen to own a home...

The Syria Crisis: Assessing Foreign Intervention

Department official recently characterized the al Assad regime as a “dead man walking.”

The game goes on....

Actually, I think the US forces are about as dumb as a doornail ... dead man walking

I want to run this through the lot of you ... what do you think is going to happen in the future?

A. Western, and Israeli key figures, and their spouses, children ... will be assaniated. As "retaliation" for the Allies targetting key figures in other countries, despite this being a warcrime.

B. Some "major" country, in Europe ... eastern Europe or Asia, will aid some of the Arab countries. And risking a war, or confrontation with US/Britain and Israel.

C. WWIII breaking out.

Me? I'd say A, watch out Mr. Obama ... you, yourself is most like a a dead man walking ... nobody is going to risk a WWIII. But they WILL risk YOU.

As I've noted . . . I've deliberately muddied my wording in that post.

I knew when I used that phrase that it was not standard.

I had a reason for using it and I'm comfortable with saying nothing further about that reason.

Excellent points, conjectures, questions, imho.

C) WWIII . . . not sure how soon. Was concerned about before this Christmas. Now looks to be scheduled closer to next Christmas . . . though informed folks are saying not that soon either.

Seems to me Israel cannot wait forever.

Nevertheless, it's ALL an orchestrated charade by the globalist oligarchy hell-bent--literally--to reduce the global population big time . . . hell-bent to establish a purported NEW ORDER that's actually as old as the oldest tyranny and mountains of evil ever heard of.

I was convinced that the Marxist Kenyan in the Whitehouse was put in to be a major Destroyer In Chief and then to be cast aside as a scapegoat once he got things royally chaotic, destructive, massively deadly and suffering.

Purportedly, he read an envelope of his orders immediately on taking office and COLLAPSED muttering "They've made me a scapegoat." That just came out the last several months. I think on ATS.

Was no surprise to me. Just fits their use of even their major stooges as cogs in the machine.

1. Well put and accurate assertions, on the whole.

2. I was a Navy Radioman with a TOP SECRET-CRYPTO clearance. I'm not as ignorant as you may think.

3. I assume my friend is being sent to a largely mundane job. He's in a medical specialty.

4. Nevertheless, it is still shocking to me the country he's being sent to and the duration. Maybe I'm too ignorant about the range of things and places we're involved in over there. It's just a big surprise, to me, and remains so. And, I believe it fits somewhat the OP in at least a tangential way though that's just a hunch.

5. I don't doubt that whoever wants to know the info probably knows it. I doubt it's that classified at all or I doubt that it would be above confidential.

6. Nevertheless, I'm not about to even annoy my friend, much less get him even moderately rebuked for saying more than someone thought wise.

You need PEOPLE to run the country

Right now we have the large corporations and the military running our country and that is the problem.

Republican / Democrat = different sides to the EXACT SAME COIN...............To give the people the illusion of choice.

Right now from what I understand it is just rumor. Command here on post hasn't confirmed anything yet. I am waiting for a response from a friend of mine who is friends with Fort Hood's Commander's wife.

I will post again if and when I hear more. Sometimes its the wives that find out more.

You are probably to young but that is not starting a war. That was a surgical strike. Just because any form of agression in your book is a act of war does not make it true. If that were the case we should have been at war with Al Qaeda a long time ago. There are plenty of real things to complain about don't make something out of nothing.

Congratulations OP, you made it on to the front page of a google search for Ft hood troops deployed. Great Operational Security. Troops in all branches are warned constantly about letting any information out about any deployment. Regular or alert. This kind of defeats the purpose of security. Way to put peoples lives in even more danger by letting people know the estimated size, location and possible destination of a troop movement, and what branch. And to the poster talking to the wife of the base commander, you should both be arrested in my opinion.
If any of you don't agree with us being sent into combat, fine. You are entitled to your opinion, and have the freedom to voice that opinion to the elected officials that you helped put into place. Supporting the men and women that volunteer their lives for the people of this country simply can mean that you shouldn't yourself do something that could inherently do them more harm.
We don't have the choice of saying no as some of you have stated. Remember, if you tell your boss no, you may get fired and have to look for a new job. If we say no, we go to jail. For a felony. So when you tell someone that they should just say no, you're basically telling them they should ruin the rest of their lives because you don't believe in their war.
