Yes, there's been quite a bit of strong words exchanged between the U.S. and Syria lately.

I read a report today that a Syrian spokesman said Syria was not interested in guarding it's border with Iraq to check and capture escaping Iraqi leaders. He said the coalition forces were watching the roads and border crossings and that is enough.

It will be interesting to see if proof will be produced to validate the claims that Syria has received Iraqi WMD and gave santuary to Iraqi leaders.

Whatever's causing this tension to escalate, it doesn't seem to be getting any better. And if Syria is guilty of involvement with Iraq in hiding WMD or hiding it's leaders, then a conflict could ensue.
