it was a bit personal, but meh , im not sorry.

fact is, prople like you make me angry ... esspecialy on ats as this place is supposed deny ignorance, while you are not only fully accepting ignorance, but you are also spreading it as if you are being paid , which is something that has been proven to has and does happen on ats. The best examples of said misinformation spreading being the influxes of hardline zionistic jewish supporters (i have no problem with them, i just dont like their propeganda) who appear out of anywhere anytime palestine gets attacked or try and have a say, or like the whole movements which appeared when obama was voted in as president.

The way you are delivering your information is the same as how this spread of a message has happened in the past, and will happen in the future ...

It also angers me that if you are not some sort of government shill, you really, actualy and completly accept ignorance in its fullest form, yet are registered on a forum where the motto is DENY IGNORANCE!

go read something which aint the sun or david camerons daily quotes and find the real reasons why society as a whole is crumbling!

(i can tell you why its crumbling, its because we have all been enslaved by debt, to people we dont even have a name for and will never be able to pay back!)

I think you are slightly confused or do not actually understand the issue to be honest.

Austerity due to structural deficit = one issue

Financial collapse due to irresponsible banking (toxic mortgages, etc) = separate issue, exacerbated by structural deficit levels.

I think i will i throw it back it at you - aren't we supposed to deny ignorance?

And as to saying im a paid government agent! Hahahahahaha - have you taken your meds today for your paranoia? Typical rubbish i'd expect from a Socialist Worker reader (which is how you're coming across).

Do you realise we in this country have always had higher personal debt levels? It is because we like to buy our own houses, rather than rent homes.

Deny ignorance indeed! I think you need to go give your head a shake.......

Financial collapse due to irresponsible banking ...[/quote]

you are stating some good lead in facts, but then you forget the rest of the sentance ...

Financial collapse due to irresponsible banking WHICH THE PUBLIC ARE BEING MADE TO PAY FOR, AND WE DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHO WE ARE PAYING IT TO.

this is why people are pissed off in society just now ... if you want to believe your version of things, then fine, but you will always be a part of the system and will forever be in debt , and inturn forever be a slave to a higher power. (is that really your house!?).

we will not agree, so im not even going to try posting even more ...

I get your point about irresponsible banking, i really do. Our banks that were exposed to toxic mortgages were stupid enough to think they could take the debt on without suffering - that is insane thinking.

Similarly, the bankers that sold mortgages (and still do) to people that can't afford them are guilty of fraud and possibly other charges also.

However, there also has to be a degree of personal responsibility in all of this. No one forced these people to take on mortgages and they were quite happy to go along with it if it meant getting a house they could not afford. Surely these people are also part of the problem? Or do people these days take no responsibility for their actions?

I guess several years down the lone i am just sick of hearing about evil banks. Yes they are evil but what about the ordinary people who know claim no responsibility? I just think it is over simplistic to simply blame the banks without accepting that we are all also to blame.

For example, i still know people these days that take every credit card offered to them and then moan about repayments they can't afford! That is a total joke - if you can't live with the debt, do not take it on in the first place. Simple really.

You say your sick of hearing about evil banks.

Wonder how those people would feel who were on the receiving end of these evil banks failing. If it was not for those evil banks and their Directors and those who took the risks in the first place.

The UK would not be in the situation that it is in right now would it?

Yes individuals should take responsibility for their own debts, but the banks should take responsibility for their actions also. Twice the banks have been pepped up by tax payers money. But rather than getting the economy going, most of those banks kept the money.

Oh but no the Banks are not evil what so ever.

It wasn't just the Banks, much of it had to do with Labours "light touch" regulation to the banking system, which has now allowed the City to be the home of fraudulent banksters. All the big scams have gone through London, From Bernie Madoff, Lehman Brothers and MF Global. The ratings agencies have also played their part in the financial destruction.
Ratings agencies were giving these toxic assets and credit defaults tripple A ratings, which were then bought by pension groups and other such groups that only invest in tripple A products.

So you can take on all the personal responsibility you want, but if governments and the financial service industry are working against your interest, your not going to win.

I do agree that people need to take on more responsibility and maybe if we weren't all so apathetic, we would never have let things get so far.

I know that being Scottish would conjure up a stereotype of hating the English, but for me that isn't true. I have many friends in England, and family, and love the English to bits, but I am glad I don't live there. What is there to bomb in Scotland? Edinburgh Castle? Even then, i'm over 200 miles away, but I feel sorry for the English when the Olympics comes, there is so much opportunity for a "terrorist" (and i use that term lightly) attack and/or an Elite scheme of some sort.

I never watch the Olympics, except for the Gymnastics and Weightlifting, but has any other city taken this much action on security of their games? Anybody know?

Actually there is far more targets in Scotland. The large Petrochemical companies in central and northern Scotland for one could be a target. Most of the security at those sites are a joke to say the least.

So no there they would not just target Edinburgh Castle. If you remember they tried to attack Glasgow Airport. Or have you forgotten that.

How ever I agree, with the rest of your comments, Is why I will not be going to watch the Olympics, Will prefer to watch it safely from my T.V.

Northern Rock and RBS were bailed out because they took on the toxic mortgages that US banks were dumping big time as they knew they were an issue. When the issue wouldn't stay hidden, these banks were over exposed. Other banks were exposed to varying degrees. Oh, and importantly, not all the banks took cash from the taxpayer - some refused as they didn't need it.

Of course the banks have a large chunk of responsibility for the current situation but to say we the people have no responsibility is totally wrong.

We have taken on debt credit cards and other debts we knew we couldn't afford to pay back. We have known that we couldn't afford the public pensions we have been paying (at those levels without further contributions). We have taken out mortgages we couldn't afford and in some cases been actively involved in deceiving the mortgage companies (often with the help of agents inputting knowingly incorrect wages to work out rates). Have we complained or said hang on a minute? No, we have said thanks for the money.

Like i said before, the banks obviously had a major role to play and are the first port of call in apportioning blame. However, after 3 years of blaming them we also have to assume a large part of responsibility ourselves. How many of us have credit cards? Do you always meet your repayments or do you just pay the minimum sometimes? If so then you are also guilty.

Well look at those two who had the guts to try and attack Glasgow Airport.

We in Scotland do not think it would happen in this country. Until something major happens.

But Scots being Scots they would just attack the terrorists
, It is in the Scottish Nature to do so.

The part about getting the economy going - i was watching Newsnight a few months ago and they had on reps from Deutsche Bank,HSBC, Goldman Sachs and a couple of top economists. They were saying that basically there is plenty of cash to lend to people but the banks do not trust each other now because of the all of the lying in order to hide problems with their assets. As such, there was simply no confidence in lending to each other (how they get the cash to lend to us).

The point they were making (i think, as they spoke a lot of financial gobble-de-gook) was that, however bad the situation, they need some totally open financial transparency so they can start lending again. But whilst banks and governments keep dragging their feet, this openness will not occur so we are basically stuck in this rut.

It was not just Northern Rock And RBS other banks done the exact same thing.

They overstretched themselves without having capital to fall back on incase those investments went sour, and they did. On top of that, the money used to bail those banks out. We will not get it all back.

As what has happened with Northern Rock. Look at the amount of money we are loosing with its take over by Virgin.

Like i said before, the banks obviously had a major role to play and are the first port of call in apportioning blame. However, after 3 years of blaming them we also have to assume a large part of responsibility ourselves.

That is an over statement they were the main reason. Look at the end of the day if those banks showed that they were trying to turn things around maybe the Ordinary citizen would stop pointing the finger at them and would stop blaming the banks all the time.

But the fact is, the banks have been bailed out twice already, and they continue to withhold the money injected into keep them floating, from small businesses. Those small businesses are the ones who can re-kick start the economy, but they cannot take on any more staff since the banks will not give them the money.

You just have to look at the stats of the companies whom have went into administration. And the amount of people who have lost their jobs,. while those ex bankers who cause most of this, have left their jobs with a healthy obscene payoff.
