Our Greatest Minds Giving Their Perspective on Teaching Evolution

alright, well maybe "Greatest Minds" isn't quite an adequate description but here's a lovely mix of opinions on whether or not Evolution should be taught in schools - by the contestants of the 2011 Miss America Pageant!



Many gave nicely politically balanced opinions such as everything should be taught so individuals can choose for him- or herself.... not much to see to be honest

The first one is were my comments lie.

First of all ,there is a separation of church and state in the constitution.
That is why the organized religions get tax exemption.
So,in public schools we teach the scientific based fact of evolution.
If you want your kids to learn otherwise,they have religious based schools for that purpose.
How hard is that?

If you ask the "True" Greatest Minds. Eminent Scientists who are well researched, studied, and applying the information you get that's relevant to Evolution and Intelligent Design, you'd get a different story.

95% of scientists believe in evolution.
99.995% of Eminent Scientists(The ones that should be giving the verdict) believe in evolution.

In a Science room, we should be teaching what science says. Not adding in unsupported religious beliefs as well. It'd make just as much sense to start teaching the "Controversy" over Germ Theory and the idea that "Sin causes sickness". Or, imagine giving equal time to the idea that the earth being flat as the earth being round gets.

People can, and do, believe what they want. They can accept that they're denying known science in their own matter. However, there is no reason to teach unscientific viewpoints as science. While it makes it easier for others to deny reality, it's unfair to those who want the truth and aren't getting a true story.

That second video is hilarious. It pretty much sums up perfectly the way the fundies sound trying to say evolution is false. WHERE ARE THE TRANSITIONAL EQUATIONS, DAMMIT?

I don't get why they say"We should teach them both". How do you teach about creationism which has no facts to back it up?

To say that 99.995 of eminent scientists believe in evolution is unbelievably arrogant and...well..false!

Of course to rationalize your ridiculous stats (which you pulled out of thin air) you will obviously say that anyone who does NOT believe in evolution is therefore, not an EMINENT scientist!!!

Amazing how we can twist stats into our favor when we exclude the data we don't like!
