I know another person who was raped on 3 different by 3 different men occasions as a teenager due to the types of people her father kept as friends. Another friend of mine raised the child of her rapist spending his entire childhood trying to keep the secret from her. There are other stories I won't even mention here because I am sworn to secrecy even though this is an anonymous website.

Super duper secret no talking of rape pact...OK, that sure as hell makes sense, such stories have a few holes in them, and it does makes one questions things. That is to say! a few holes like Swiss cheese has a few holes in it.

As Spock would say....Illogical.

You notice something? None of them have stars. Meaning they are all coming from same IP address? The time it takes for one of them to post something sounds about right if they are logging in and out of different accounts.

Jotting a bunch of meaningless things down and trying to appeal to the rational senses makes perfect sense catwhoknows.

A message to men, the rapists. How do you live with your conscience?

Good question I to want to know the answer, but I do not think we will get an answer.

You have damaged so many women Who will never be able to have a normal life.

If true then I doubt it will go away totally, but however I would not worry about having a normal life...Because first of all, there is no such thing to begin with. And second life moves on eventually, but if you keep dragging and picking at your scars don't be surprised if it keeps bleeding and never quite heals right.

But i am pretty sure women will move on, really it wont be that hard for them.

Just like me, abused by my father.

And how does one argue with that in a thread about rape. Abuse is not good catwhoknows thanks for bringing my attention to it.

Either that, Or you just reading to much into it.....

Its clear what is going on here, much to much emotion, ego's, jaded feelings, and miscommunication...But it is an emotional subject. So everything seems normal to me bro.

But what I really think is....It's time for me to go to sleep.

I shouldn't have opened this thread before I went to bed. I am now up in the middle of the night because I am disturbed by some of the comments I read in this thread earlier.

I define rape as: force or coercion of the victim to perform sexual acts for or with the abuser.

I believe the number of people (female or male) who have, at some point in their lives, been forced or coerced into performing sexual acts is very large.

In my experience, both personal and as a counselor:
- The helplessness and powerlessness associated with these incidents is crippling and devastating.

- The helplessness and powerlessness in the aftermath of these incidents is crippling and devastating.

- The shame associated with these events is deep and pervasive.

- Many people will never, in their lives, admit to friends or family members that they have been abused.

- Many people feel if they admit to being abused that they will be judged by others.

- Many people who do admit to being abused are judged by others.

- Many people block out details of the abuse from their memories as a survival mechanism.

- Many victims experience psychosomatic illnesses as a result of their abuse. Children, for example, commonly experience incontinence or frequent stomachaches.

- Many victims self-medicate with drugs or alcohol.

- Many victims believe they "deserve" to be hurt.

- Many victims believe they somehow caused the abuse to happen or are responsible for the abuse.

- Many victims believe they are worthless.

- Many victims regularly engage in extreme risk-taking, reckless, or self-destructive behaviors.

- Many victims will go on to engage in sexual promiscuity.

This is a serious topic, and nobody should be treated as if s/he is a liar or skewing the truth when responding to a survey or thread like this. Some respondents would actually feel more comfortable speaking to anonymous people about the abuse than to people they know.

I bet all the people with the knee-jerk 'stop blaming the victim' responses would without a doubt call a man an idiot if he were to walk through a bad neighborhood flashing his wallet or rolex. Women should take responsibility for the alcohol they put into their bodies and how they portray themselves in public. It's like some people don't even care what happens to them. I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for people who literally 'jump in the shark's tank' with such blatant risky, irresponsible decisions.

Heck in Australia they are working on laws so men accused of rape won't be entitled to a Jury trial. instead they want to use "Special Tribunals".

There are many, many documented cases of women making false allegations of rape.

'Wicked' woman who ruined a marriage by crying rape jailed for four months

Woman who cried rape after date with man she met in internet chatroom is jailed for a year

Two months for girl whose rape lie ruined cabbie's life

Girl, 16, who cried rape after cheating on boyfriend is jailed for six months

Cry-rape girl, 20, dragged man into toilets for sex to claim £7,500 compensation

Criminal lawyers will tell you that the more women on a jury, the less likely a man is to be convicted of rape.

Rape? It's the fault of the victims, say 50% of women

Women were more likely than men to blame victims, with those aged between 18 and 24 the most likely to judge.

Lots of pages have passed so this may have been posted but here we go from the Illinois State Police (where carrying a firearm is against the law)

There is documentation of assailants that left a would-be-victim alone after she told him that she was pregnant and it would kill her baby. (Some case were women that were too old to even have a baby.)
Telling an attacker that you have VD or AIDS can discourage him.
It may sound disgusting, but putting your fingers into you throat and making yourself vomit usually gets results. (This method is not often used except as a last resort.)
Use your imagination and you can think of others.

Illinois State Police

This is only if you decide to fight back. The ISP strongly suggests you just lay there and take it:

Fighting for your safety may be necessary. However, if you start out fighting you cancel any other options that might be open to you. Since many attacks on women are not sexually motivated, and are designed to degrade and humiliate, talking your way out of it may be easier.

The above methods [vomiting, telling the attacker(s) that you have a sexually transmitted disease, etc.] are particularly important if your assailant has a gun or knife, or there is more than one attacker. (Fighting would probably be futile.)

There's something that could reduce that futility and give you a fighting chance no matter how many attackers you were facing. Whether elderly, sick or handicapped. Illinois wont let you have it though. So just lay there and take it.

Not to sound all ultra conservative, but a simple double wall system would work. No sex until marriage, and a gun in the side bag if you refuse.

You know you're asking men to wait till marriage, too. Like that's going to happen. You guys always have the option of going to a prostitute. Why should we have to suck it up and deprive ourselves?

If you are willing to wait that long, it proves patience with the woman's will, and respect.

What about patience with YOUR will?

These archaic behaviors certainly had merit to them. I for one obey them.
edit on 15-12-2011 by Gorman91 because: (no reason given)

You think waiting for marriage is going to stop rape? If anything, it'll increase the rates, not drop them. Did you not read what a poster wrote a couple of pages back, that she wasn't ready for sex and kept telling her boyfriend no, and he put his hand over her mouth and raped her anyway?

"pure" is just some abstract word that has no practical meaning in the real world.

lol? Because you say so?

You can't know if you want to marry someone without first having sex with them.

Not true. People have been doing this for thousands of years.

Because sex is part of it. A marriage is there to tend to certain needs and desire. There are emotional needs and sexual needs. Marrying without knowing if someone can please you in both areas could be a problem.

What makes sex great is the emotional intimacy shared with the other person. You don't need to have sex with someone to build emotional intimacy.

Sex is part of being human. There's nothing more natural.

Exactly what I said earlier. That age group, though, most likely hasn't experienced or if she has, didn't know what to call it. So they're more likely to call another girl a slut or a whore.

Until it happens to them. Then they realize, well, if I'm not a slut and it happened to me, maybe those other girls aren't sluts either.

Just because you can't follow my logic doesn't mean I am insane.

Fact is, you have yet to say: I blame this one accuser of lying, and regard this as an exception. Instead, it is still everyone wants pity.
I want to hear it: I do not think the majority of women are falsey accussing people of rape.

Don't speak for everybody because everyone does not want pity. You just love to paint everyone with broad strokes, don't you. I don't like pity. And I know people who will tell you off in a second for giving them any.

I think it's funny that the men in this thread don't seem to buy it, while the women in this thread think the numbers are higher. I'll tel you what, I have spent enough time taking to my female friends and to know it's most likely under reported. I have had to call 911 on at least one occasion when my neighbor in the apartments I was living at at the time was being raped. I know another person who was raped on 3 different by 3 different men occasions as a teenager due to the types of people her father kept as friends. Another friend of mine raised the child of her rapist spending his entire childhood trying to keep the secret from her. College campuses are notorious for underreporting crimes of all kinds. Penn State is now being investigated by the feds for doing just that in addition to what's going on with Sandusky. They lose federal funds if their crime rates are too high, so the keep it hush hush.

www.capitalnews.vcu.edu...

Surveys show how disturbingly common rape is among college students.

One survey of college women said one in four had been the victim of rape or attempted rape since their 14th birthday. Another survey said one in five had been raped at some point in their life. Yet another survey said 3 percent of college women survive a rape or attempted rape during a typical school year.

But there is a huge disconnect between those figures and the number of sexual assaults reported on college campuses. Look at what Virginia's biggest universities - all with more than 30,000 students - reported for 2008, the latest year for which data are available:

George Mason University in Fairfax reported 11 rapes. Virginia Tech reported four rapes. And Virginia Commonwealth University reported three rapes on the Monroe Park campus and five at the Medical College of Virginia.

Because of such discrepancies, many officials believe sexual assaults are grossly underreported by colleges and universities.

Schools must report statistics for such crimes every year under a federal law called the Clery Act. The act was prompted by the rape and murder of a Lehigh University freshman in 1986. It requires schools to annually publish a variety of data - notably about crime.

redandblack.com...

www.stateline.org...

www.educationnews.org...

And at the high school level:

query.nytimes.com...

Hence why no one believes you. And if they did go to the cops it would show up in the statistics. The reason why I don't believe this is because this rhetoric will be readily used to further dehumanize me, and disenfranchise me because of my gender. The laws are in place to deal with rape crimes, want a cookie?

Grow up.

Actually, they are not.

Because they feel no guilt about their crimes and have difficulty controlling their impulses, psychopaths have higher recidivism rates than regular criminals. Although psychopaths make up only 4% of the total population, they represent about 50% of serial rapists, as well as a significant proportion of persistent wife batterers.

jennifercopley.suite101.com...

P.S

Most child rape/sexual molestation is done by women. In 80% of the time it is reported to the Police they REFUSE to take action.

But then again when did facts get in the way of a hate rant?

Where did you come up with 80%? I found a huge range, from 1%--4% for most studies, with one saying that among teachers, the rate may be as high as 40%.

Either way, your 80% is way off base.

As far as rapists in general, according to Wiki:

The U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics (1999) estimated that 91% of U.S. rape victims are female and 9% are male, with 99% of the offenders being male.

A jury of women are more likely to clear a man of a charge of rape than a jury of men.

I always assumed that this was because women had a better insight into female psychology.

It also totally undermines the unbalanced feminist thrust of this thread that men are rapists.

Well, maybe.

psychcentral.com...

You might have a point if you're only referring to the younger set, 18-24, but overall, we don't blame other women. We do judge them more harshly, though.

I always assumed that this was because women had a better insight into female psychology.[

No, it's a psychological defense. If we blame other women for rape, it can't happen to us--that's the rationale of young women. Older women know better, that rape can happen not matter what you wear, no matter if you're stone cold sober or not.

I think someone quoted this study earlier, but I'm going to post it again. I know, I know, it's the Daily Mail, but it's corroborated elsewhere.

www.dailymail.co.uk...

Alarmingly, they also found that one in three men claimed they didn't think it was rape if they made their partner have sex when they didn't want to.

Thirteen per cent of men admitted having sex with a partner who was too drunk to know what was happening.

25% of women said they wouldn't report it if they were raped.
