REAFFIRMING THE LAWFUL DETENTION OF CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS FROM AL-QAEDA, THE TALIBAN, AND ASSOCIATED FORCES ENGAGED IN ARMED CONFLICT WITH THE UNITED STATES. The FY12 NDAA would reaffirm the lawful detention of certain individuals, pursuant to the Authorization of Use of Military Force, that are in engaged in the armed conflict with the United States. This provision does not address or extend new authority to detainee U.S. citizens.
