I don't know if any of you have heard about this, but it seems that CNN knew about the incomprehensive horrors being commited by Hussein and his sick "government" but failed to declare it to the world.

Eason Jordan, chief news exec at CNN, has admitted that the truth of Saddam has been kept secret for years.

CNN Exec Admits Covering Up 'Maniac' Saddam's Atrocities

Here's another fascinating item we'll dedicate to Jacques Chirac, Nancy Pelosi and the other humiliated appeasement activists: A CNN big is admitting his network covered up the atrocities of Saddam Hussein.

Eason Jordan, chief news executive at CNN, writes in today's New York Times:

"Over the last dozen years I made 13 trips to Baghdad to lobby the government to keep CNN's Baghdad bureau open and to arrange interviews with Iraqi leaders. Each time I visited, I became more distressed by what I saw and heard awful things that could not be reported because doing so would have jeopardized the lives of Iraqis, particularly those on our Baghdad staff. ...

"The secret police terrorized Iraqis working for international press services who were courageous enough to try to provide accurate reporting. Some vanished, never to be heard from again. Others disappeared and then surfaced later with whispered tales of being hauled off and tortured in unimaginable ways. ...

"I came to know several Iraqi officials well enough that they confided in me that Saddam Hussein was a maniac who had to be removed. One Foreign Ministry officer told me of a colleague who, finding out his brother had been executed by the regime, was forced, as a test of loyalty, to write a letter of congratulations on the act to Saddam Hussein. An aide to Uday once told me why he had no front teeth: henchmen had ripped them out with pliers and told him never to wear dentures, so he would always remember the price to be paid for upsetting his boss. ...

"Then there were the events that were not unreported but that nonetheless still haunt me. A 31-year-old Kuwaiti woman, Asrar Qabandi, was captured by Iraqi secret police occupying her country in 1990 for 'crimes,' one of which included speaking with CNN on the phone. They beat her daily for two months, forcing her father to watch. In January 1991, on the eve of the American-led offensive, they smashed her skull and tore her body apart limb by limb. A plastic bag containing her body parts was left on the doorstep of her family's home.

"I felt awful having these stories bottled up inside me. Now that Saddam Hussein's regime is gone, I suspect we will hear many, many more gut-wrenching tales from Iraqis about the decades of torment. At last, these stories can be told freely."

Assuming we had intentions of doing the right thing, wouldn't this information been good so as to motivate the populace for the liberation and rescue of the Iraqi people from a demon-filled maniac?

At least to have the information so that we could decide either to go to their rescue or two turn a blind eye as is done elsewhere would have been good.

You Honestly still believe that whis war was about Liberating Iraq. man CNN and Fox News has all you people hypnotized, You reflect what you hear, what you hear is on American Soil.

The Korean Governmnet especially North Korean, treats people like JUNK, like DOGS, everybody lives in poverty YET why does George Bush not feel sorry for them, I'll tell you why.....because the North Korean Governmnet has Invested practically all of their Revenue and Money Into Military Technology Fields......they have biological and Mass destruction weapons that would make Saddam's Army and Weapons Look Like an Indian Tribe carrying Only Spears and Bows.

So If The N. Korean Governmnet treats their people like Junk, and they posses Weapons of Mass Destruction why doesn't Bush do something about it????
2 reasons:

Reason Number 1. N. Korea doesn not Have the Oil to stimulate the Economy, N. Korea does not have the Oil to Make Bush and his Republican filty rich buddies wealthier.

Reason # 2: Bush is scared to Mess with N. Korea. These guys aren't punks Like Saddam they don't play and Joke their Crazy they'll do everything up to the Kamakazi if it takes to win a War, and they have basically declared and told Mr. Bush, You tell Us what to do and we'll Nuke your Country. These People aren't the Ones to mess with.

If saddam Had these Great weapons why didn't He Use them??????

Why would Bush Care about the Iraqi people, Bush is a 100% Christian he couldn't Hate Muslims more than he does, he is the guy who approved Death Penalties by the Dozens, and he is the one to feel Sympathy for someone. Give me a Break. Why Honestly would He Care, it doesn't Help him.

The Reasons He Cared was because Iraq Had the Oil, Iraq posed a Threat to to Help palestine against Israel.......those are the Reasons.

I honestly Hope The rumors are True, I hope Russia, France, Germany and other European Countries Unite to Create 1 Superpower JUST IN ORDER TO STOP THIS WRECKLESS BEHAVIOR OF 'WE WILL DO WHAT WE PLEASE" By the Americans, The world Cannot withstand That.

Liberate Iraq people, How can you be so manipulated.

Bush is to Spend Billions Of Dollars On a warm then Spend 80 more Billions to repair Iraq, while his Econmoy is down....simply because he feels bad.

Ohh god you poeple can't make sense of anything.

He had 12 years to use Mass destruction Weapons yet he didn't, he had the War to use the Weapons of Mass destruction for defense Purposes, YET HE DIDN'T SO WHAT MAKES YOU THINK HE WOULD HAVE USED THEM OUT OF THE BLUE FOR NO REASON.

God Mr. Crowne I reado alot of your posts and you sound like an Educated Man, you know something about the politics.....but Make some sense will ya, You don't have to be unpatriotic or against The US to think of this......

What? You made not much sense about Bush, Christianity and Muslims, and hating Muslims, etc.

As far as North Korea, just wait. How we deal with them is up to the policy makers, but they are on the list.

As far as you hoping that Germany, France, Russia, etc, join up to spank us, that's fine. You aren't the first I've met that can't tell evil from good. Not that this nation won't one day be evil, it's just not that way now.

Not only did CNN know how evil Saddam was but so did our goverment crown. When saddam came into power he convined all of the people in the goverment and called out the names of traitors from a list. Guess where he got that list of tratiors from?!?! You guessed it, the good old U .S of A....Well the C.I.A to be exact.

Mabey they put saddam in power because they knew how crazy he was and that talking him down would help bring about a new world order.

We are going after a lot of countries right now Iraqi, Syria, Iran and N.Korea..... plus we got troops already in Afganstan. Do we have enough troops to take on all of these countries!?!?! It's kinda cold in here do you feel a draft ?

CNN knew of what was happening, but you forgot to mention that they also said that they were scared for their own lives. Other people that reported this were tortured..

I understand where you're coming from, abstract. During the Cold War we did things that would eventually come back around to bite us in the rear, Hussein being one of them. The Soviet threat was obviously viewed as being the primary concern, and I think the administrations new there'd be consequences eventually because of some of the moves. Hindsight is always 20/20, though. Funny thing is, we may have won the Cold War, but how much financial aid did we pay Russia to help stabilize them and how much is it costing to put out some of these fires that are resultant of the Cold War?
Not that we are directly to blame for the choices and actions of Hussein, but we are indirectly. Had there been another way that ws clear, I'm sure it would have been taken instead.

As far as the draft, I wouldn't worry about that. We have a fine volunteer army and the recruiters aren't struggling.

Ok Bush is this nice guy who cares about Iraqi people and he wants to Liberate them, he is a Christian but he doesn't hate Muslims, and it is perfectly Ok for the United States to be the Only Superpower have their way and Control the world!!!!!!!

Buddy I wasn't calling your country Evil, neither do I want any European Power To Spank you. I simply said that 1 superpower has always, is, and always will lead to wreckless and unfair behavior towards the whole world. The world Need 2 Superpowers to keep Wars and Peace in Check, I don't want the European Alliance to attack no no I'm Anti-War remember, I just want someone to keep you in check from wreckless and crude behavior that is bound to happen in the future

Whats even more rotten is That United States knew all this you are correct, but they kept Saddam in Power for as long as they needed him for some Governmnet Reason, as soon as this need was over than bush came up with this Bull about Operation Iraqi freedom, because Saddam was no longer Needed.

I am Christian as Bush is, and I can tell you for a fact that Christianity does not equal hate for Muslims or any other group, race or religion. As a matter of fact, the message is the love of a God who died on the cross to pay the price for the original sin and all thereafter and then came back. As far as policy, though, the president must protect the nation. Hussein was a threat to this nation, a real and credible one, even moreso than North Korea or the old Soviet Union.
The Soviet Union was a nation of laws and policies and would not have given NBC weapons to terrorists to use as weapons of terrorism against our cities.

As far as a balance of power in case this nation goes stupid one day, I understand wholeheartedly. Before that were to happen, though, our constitution would have been rendered defunct for one reason or another. When that happens and the U.S. gets stupid, the world should have no trouble containing and or destroying the controlling regime. It happened with other nations a couple times last century and I have no doubt that good would triumph if it were necessary here. Don't you?

well even if Bush does dislike muslims I cannot prove that, and I could be 100% wrong. Maybe I even took it to far by saying that but, the bottom line is that I personally feel that we need 2 Superpowers just to keep the world equal. Because this way Bush and his allies will do whatever to get their way.... I don't know but you see where Im going.

No i don't mean your country is Evil, but Man is not perfect, its likely to happen.

Thomas - Please view my thread on the New American Fascism....it'll be like looking in a mirror for you.

On this thread, who is more guilty in your mind, the administrations of Reagan/Bush for setting up, financing, training and turning a blind eye to Saddam

OR

CNN for being a good little propaganda mouthpiece & not calling out those GOP Administrations for the blood on their hands?
