Bend the legs in position, put meat/fur on the skeleton... and its there
Thats what I think anyway.
I can "see" it clear as a day, the tail, the fur on its right foreleg, the shape of its body.
Everything seems to match, except that the backlegs appear to be longer on the skeleton-picture.
But if you skin the "live one" and stretch its legs, you might get a match.
I still cant see why its not a "Mustela sibirica".

I understand what your saying, you could well be right. I'm just thrown off by the length of the legs as you pointed out.

I haven't made a concrete choice yet, I appreciate your efforts Helmutt, thank you!

I still think it looks like a skinned cat - especially since the fur on the back feet is left over (which is how you skin a cat), and they are trying to get the locals to sop hunting the Pallas' cat due them becoming endangered and the locals still hunting because they depend on the fur as a source of money.

But then again - it sure could be a red fox too (dog), and it's something you'd hunt and skin and leave the carcass behind.

its not a cat nor a dog , the eye sockets are to close to the end of the snout and located to close together. This creature is of the weasel family most likely

A couple of observations ...

Aren't the long teeth too far forward in the skull to be canines ?
They look right at the end of the jaw, which would suggest that they maybe incisors ... but the shape of the molars don't look that consistent with long incisors ...

Actually, unless it's me this carcass looks quite odd.

Look at the relationship between the ribcage and spine. It appears that the spine maybe facing towards the camera (based on the shape of the ribcage), which means that the front legs are in the right place, but if that is the case then those front leg joints are the 'wrong' way around.

This would also mean that the head and back legs are 'twisted'.

The joints on the front limb looks ok if the animal's back is away from the camera, but then the ribs & spine look wrong ...

The remains of the tail don't really help with the orientation.

I'm not sure that the spine/skull interface is quite right either.

Not that this answers anything of course ...

To me, it does not look like a dog or a cat, the top mandible teeths do not cross with the lower mandible teeths. This kind of teeths, that touch each other when the mouth is closed, usualy are from rodents and such.
Also, dogs have a much larger rib cage.

First I thought of a rabbit, but then I looked closely to the back teeths, and they do not look like rabbits teeths, but the shape of the head also reminds me of a rabbit.

This site has a lot of skeletons, enjoy, or maybe not.

I didnt think they were that small I dont know how big that thing is but unless thats the foot of a two year old in the pic its over 1 foot long.

I guess I would go with Sibirian weasel like Hellmutt said then.

OK, I'm going with the Siberian Weasel. After looking more closely at the positioning of the front legs I can't see a better explanation.

Again, thanks for all the responses folks.
