China's abandoned "Wonderland"

It’s as if you hopped off of your flying elephant and walked straight into an apocalyptic wasteland, surrounded by scrubby grass, empty buildings, and the shell of a Magic Kingdom. This is the ghost of a Disney World-style amusement park in China, abandoned partway through construction, and now a hauntingly beautiful scene of decay.

“Wonderland,” which is situated on a 100-acre plot of land 45 minutes outside of Beijing, was intended to be a huge tourist destination. But according to Reuters, construction was halted in 1998 when farmers and local government sparred over property prices. A small “town,’ the skeletal remains of a castle, and the metal framework of a huge pavilion are all that remain, and the site is completely open to explorers.

What an awesome place to do some urban exploring! There something about this place that makes it superrrr eerie. It was supposed to be another Disneyland, the world's happiest place on earth. But look at it now. Its completely the opposite. Its like hell!

Strange... how did this happen? I thought China was booming in success...

and they say the US is wasteful........

Between this and that huge city they built complete with skyscrapers that is almost COMPLETELY empty.......

How many resources you think they used up building these? How much raw material you think is just wasting away?

P.s. that "city" was suppose to house like 1.5 mil people or something to that effect.......complete with an obscene library. and skyscrapers........

This is only made funnier by the fact that people actually believe that.

This place would make a great set for a movie.
