actually, most women don't work. the numbers are higher than they were 10 years ago but still not even.

I drop $30k on a ring so that she will sleep next to me every night (unless I snore, then it's couchland for crakeur). spend money to have someone stay at your side? souonds like prostitution to me.

I was actually making a joke.

How many men do you know, even if it were legal...would be proud to say, "Oh yeah, my daughter makes good money...she's in the prostitution profession"? Or how how many would not care if their wife came home from a hard nights work, tired from having sex with other men all night.....it will always be a moral issue.

How many women do you know that always have a father figure in their life? Or a good one if they do? Hopefully, a good father would steer his daughter away from such a profession, but once she hits 18, she's gonna do what she's gonna do, at that point, the way she was raised is the deciding factor, IMO overly controlling fathers are the best thing that ever happened to the porn industry. As for the wife thing, of course that would not be something you would want your wife doing, just like stripping or filming porn, if she is still going to do that, it's time for a divorce, just like a woman who's husband is paying prostitutes. Once again, I was never advocating infidelity.

Didn't say you were...but by making it a profession, in time...that would/could happen. Also...though most do not know this, and even fewer won't believe...when two people have sexual relations...they are connected for weeks after by an invisible silver cord, which can and does effect each other....another reason why "free sex", meaning many sexual partners, was never really completely advocated....of course as stated this is not openly known and no I can't give you written documented proof....it goes with my belief structure.

Well, if a married party was unable to resist straying just because it was legal (which cheating is, paying to cheat is not, but you know that), then how strong a bond do they really have, their cord is obviously weak and will not be able to survive anyway. And I'm not one to ask for proof of one's beliefs, you are fully entitled to them, and if that is your belief then not being a prostitute would be an easy way to avoid the problems with your silver cord. Let others find out for themselves, right?

I used to e mail a lot with a person from Amsterdam, I think that's where it was, Prostitution was legal there. We got into this discussion once and I was told that even though it was legal, the girls are still looked down on, most are not married or not in healthy relationships, at least as far as their studies go.....it will never be anything respectable or any type of true profession....it will always be looked at as degrading, mainly due to the request by the types that frequent them....however, this is only what I was told from someone who lives there. Perhaps someone here lives there that may know about it.....In my not so humble opinion, I find it deplorable. I do not hold to the double standards of it's ok for a man and not a woman, sex is a healthy, normal part of life, like breathing...but I think sex for hire is sad

Well, that's the second unsubstanciated post in a row. I do not look down on prostitutes. Nor do I frequent them. I find it interesting that the Western religious culture has to look down on people and morally judge them. Why? Make you feel better about YOUR beliefs? Even Jesus kept the company of at least 1 prostitute.

Your position is completely understandable, and no, it would not be the most glamorous job in the world, and hopefully most women would be aware of that, but there are some who want to take the easy way out, and may not share your moral values, should they not be permitted to take that road because some do not agree? We should never make laws prohibiting such things based on moral or religious values, because not all share them, be they Christian or Wiccan (not sure if that's what your beliefs are, but that's what it sounds like to me, I could be very wrong, forgive me if I am). As long as both parties are consenting, then it should be between them and their own moral values. Or lack of if you prefer.

Again, as a qualifyer, I'm talking about sex , not love. Women are just as needing of sexual fullfillment as men, they have the same dark desires, they urge like we urge. Mature, responsible adults get together to scratch that itch, and they make it known on a visceral level, when they need a scratching post. As men, I think we suffer from our socialization ( Madonna/Whore complex ) in realizing that fact.
Hey, having sex with someone else's girlfreind is that woman's choice more than yours, go for it! Hell, the chase/finesse part is as exhilerating sometimes. Seduction is a non stop part of the cerebral animals sexual experience; a man still seduces his wife and visa versa, no?
Hooking up with another adult that you have good conversation with and share a mutual attraction with is natural.
Put on a suit & go to the hotel bar .....you'll have out of towners on business trips looking for excitement & to scratch that itch. Going to a club? More prone to get shot down.

On thread, I think sex workers serve a tremendous need in society. I shudder to think of the monsters our world would have without them. I've never partaken of a prostitute's services, as I find no allure to being "serviced", but I see & agree that all societies need them - even radical Fundie Theocracies have them.

BT, I know it is just for sex, still, U2U me on tips.

Anyways, people assume it is not a glorius profession. Well neither is Septic Sewage Sucking Services, but people still do it. Or McDonalds cook, or floor mopper at old folks home, but people still do it.

And I don't think legalized prostitution will lead to more cheating, for if they are looking to cheat, they will cheat. Just this way, as said before, not as many STDs being spread and so forth.

I second that BT...

JTL - In the long run, I'd have to say I'm all for legalizing it as well...I don't think I would ever resort to actually using one - but I don't see how you think it would reduce STDs like AIDS, etc....I don't remember reading your reasoning for this in previous posts, but maybe I missed it...I'd be very intrigued to hear it tho....

To be a prostitute, you are to be tested for STDs and drugs every month. If you have STDs, your liscense is taken away and can no longer be a professional legal prostitute.

Really? Are you sure that prostitutes with STDs don't find work in the fetish market, like you said grandmother-aged prostitutes can?

Sounds to me like you were judging.
See, I don't put things here that I can't back up.

BTW, I"ve frequented strip clubs in my time, I've always found the girls to have great self esteem.

How are YOUR fingers?

Sure sounds like your referring to Christianity here...

Most strippers, as with other women who work in the sex industry, are adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Research indicates the number is between 60%-80%. One study found that 35% of strippers have Multiple Personality Disorder, 55% had Borderline Personality Disorder, and 60% had Major Depressive Episodes, These are severe psychiatric problems and many of them are connected to childhood sexual abuse. Often as adults they reenact their childhood trauma by working as strippers, nude models, and prostitutes. The men who, now as customers, physically and visually invade the adult women's bodies, reenact the role of the perpetrator. These women work in the sex industry because it feels like home.
Among strippers, eating disorders are rampant. Many of the women starve, vomit, abuse exercise or laxatives to become the unnatural shape that is demanded of them. Plastic surgery is almost invariably required especially artificial breasts to produce unnaturally large breasts. This surgery is considered a necessity despite the evidence that artificial breasts interfere with mammograms, and are implicated in autoimmune deficiency disorders in the women, and digestive disorders in the babies of the women who have had the surgery.Strippers are often substance abusers as well; one study found the number to be 40%. Sometimes this is-because they have to numb themselves to be able to do the work they do. Often the consumption of alcohol is required on the job. Strippers who refuse to drink or who refuse to accept drinks from customers can be fired, coerced or threatened by bosses. Even strippers who have told their superiors that they are alcoholics who attend AA meetings are told that they have to drink on the job. Sometimes customers tip the strippers with coc aine. Cocaine addiction is common.

Uh huh. Sheer propaganda from some religious org. or something.

"Customers spit on women, spray beer, and flick cigarettes at them. Strippers are pelted with ice, coins, trash, condoms, room keys, pornography, and golf balls. Men pitched a live guinea pig and a dead squirrel at two women in the survey. Some women have been hit with cans and bottles thrown from the audience. Customers pull womens hair, yank them by the arm or ankle, rip their costumes, and try to pull their costumes off. Women are commonly bitten, licked, slapped, punched, and pinched. See Table 1 Frequency of Physical Abuse."

This is complete crap. I have never seen anything remotely like this. In fact if you even attepted to initiate contact without consent, you would be in for a very nasty beating, on your way out the door.

See this for the evil strip club:

Tell that to my granddaughter's mother.....(not my daughter) my son, has custody of her due to her stripping life style....as stated, I have known many through my life not just her and her friends.....I doubt very seriously if you have ever sat with thee woman when not working and talked to them, heard their stories....I have. And how many strippers do you really think are working themselves through school...
How are "your" fingers my dear!?

Propaganda's just that, you show one ridiculous side I'll show another. As to the girl, I don't know how screwed up she is but painting a whole profession, and it is just that, with the same brush is ludicrous.
Fingers are just fine.
