Thank you for acknowledging us hard working people who still struggle to pay for anything. I work full time and my girlfriend works two jobs (one part one full time) here in the US. We both make minimum wage and live in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment. We can't afford to buy a vehicle even though we spend money strictly on bills and food and necessities. We ride our bikes to work in the rain/cold often and even though it's easy to cry about it, I'm sure there are people who have it worse. It just really sucks to work so hard and watch the greedy owners of these corporations/companies just enjoy having 'the life' who make TONS of money off of paying us minimum wage and drive around in their fancy vehicles not doing any real work. Totally agree. Not to mention football players, actors, etc..

All this money, that the government, puts it's citizens in debt, each year, and they the government, takes it out of your' taxes, to pay their debt. It Is horrendous.

www.usdebtclock.org...

Totally blows.

What also totally blows my mind, is that the education system here, got a 10 MILLION DOLLAR GIFT!!!!!!!!!
What does the education system do?
They RAISE tuition and insurance!!!!!!! After getting 10 MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!.

Where did it go?

Obama is a socialist, he wants everyone to be "equal" like the borg. How is that even remotely arguable? I get positive comments through U2U all the time.

Cheers.

Erm, was actually talking about the OP you responded to in that particular post. Even his avatar was a troll. Wasnt talking about Obama at all.

Somewhat off topic - but on the converse side, being CEO Pay.
CEO's should be payed also based on the world markets, and in the rest of the world, they would be paid about 100X less than they are paid in the US.

To counteract the board room deals in my empire where they give each others huge raises, all board rooms would be dispelled, and I would open up the US Borders to the top talent in other countries to come and take these CEO jobs. Other countries have no problem finding CEO's that will work for a lot less than they make in the US so I am sure, many would come rushing in.

Of course, the reason their able to carry on as they are, is because they have the politicians in their back pocket, exploiting workers overseas and in the US. Buying of politicians would be illegal in my empire, and anyone caught bribing politicians would be an instant death penalty.

PS.... I would never pay 20 an hour to a burger flipper... at this point the service is worth only 9 an hour for competence and less then ten mistakes a week... This includes no attendance issues.... no disciplinary problems at work........

The reason only 9 for perfection..... The ones who meet this criteria will be trained for management or for transfer to cook school for restaurants in my empire I want to build... college my tab.....

As for bene's .... none offered ...

mind you, company doctor once big enough for low level employee use only.... (reduce call ins and kept spreadable disease low...)

BTW I have met those I would steal from there current employers....... those that would get the slightly higher pay.....

No the company is not accepting applications.... we poach ours from other companies...

Relax walmart your completely safe from us....

This is not as true anymore, since most pay buy card, and you write in the tip on the card receipt.
At least, that is how it is at most restaurants I have been to. Uncle Sam wants his cut of the money.

Waiters and waitresess make a pretty good dime if they work at a popular restaurant. Sure their hourly rate is low, but the tips they take in are most likely not counted on their taxes.

Minimum wage is used on jobs that are minimum to our needs. If you have to work minimum wage jobs then get 2 of them until you can find something better.

It really depends on the cost of living in a region. In Canada each province has their own minimum wage. Ontario's is $10.25 in Alberta its around $15. In Ontario the cost of living is high. Utilities are high, sales tax is 13%, property tax is through the roof, insurance costs a fortune, fuel is $1.25 a litre. The average price of a home is 300k . You can't live on $10.25 an hour here. Its impossible. I live in a small northern community that had nothing and average price of rent for a small apartment is around $800 monthly plus utilities. Groceries for a single person is around $400to a month and that's being cheap. Beer is costly, smokes too. Everything. Most jobs here are only part time.

Alberta mind you has a cost of living almost triple that of Ontario. Quebec is also higher for goods but living is cheaper.

I have always heard stories about the us saying the cost of living is much cheaper. I could be wrong. But it would account for a lower min wage.

I'm sure someone has already pointed this out, but Alberta's minimum wage is NOT $15/hr, it's:

an hourly minimum wage of $9.40 for most employees;
an hourly minimum wage of $9.05 for employees serving liquor as part of their regular job;

I have the same rule when it comes to how much a CEO is paid. If I think they are grossly overpaid for the service their company offers, I do not employ them or their services and let them know. Also, if a company does not publish how much their CEO gets payed, I also do not do business with them. That is the free market at work, where I can choose whatever reason I want to go elsewhere.

please do not ask for a minimum wage increase , inflation is based on minimum wage , only a very short sided person wishes to increase minimum wage.

I never did but something just needs to change about our economy overall! If people have to work like 70hours a week to make over 400 a week. There's something wrong. That right there doesn't even pay rent! that makes one 1/3 of your monthly pay.

Unfortunately yes, and some people would even go so far as to insist we abolish minimum wage all together, letting the markets decide. Crazy times.

Yeah, I learned that. I asked for an increase and they told me I was qualified, but the pay exceeded. How nice of them. Huh.
According to the pay chart, my area, and degree. That was the pay I put but $2.00 under the amount. And it still exceeded. LOL

$7.25 for the majority of jobs that are left in the hospitality, health care, retail and other customer service type jobs that are left-not over-seas... yet. Very hard for many to live on with the $7. to 9. dollar ranger per hour. I know many people, myself included in the past and sometimes now who had to seek another job or even side pay to help cover minimum living costs.

Washington State, highest in the country, has minimum wage at $8.67. Most jobs I was employee at in that state and surrounding border states pay only that(competition). If you're in a state that has a Federal min wage jobs are more likely to pay you more. Wash State has had some issues with job losses due to the highest wages. It equals to a bit higher pay but don't expect 9+ an hour, and expect less job opportunity...can't win, as an employee,as it stands now.

Oh haven't you heard, we aren't worth that. Hmmm, we are lazy, obese, worthless garbage who apparently won't work at a plethora of jobs that only mexicans will take? You haven't heard?
We are the garbage of the world! /sarcasm

ldy, i don't think many people would say that about the American people at all, and i think most of us living outside of the USA would agree, i think what you said describes the system/government but not the people.

Tell me about it.

If minimum wage had kept up with inflation from the 60s, I've seen stats where it would be 9 or 10 dollars an hour. Granted, it actually is close to that in high-cost states to live.

People here are all about the self-made-man myth here, though. They're so brainwashed that they think working 60-70 hours a week and just barely surviving is a good thing, and they call anybody who wants better conditions a whiner. Personally, I think that kind of attitude is mind-bogglingly stupid; if you're that hard of a worker, you ought to be flourishing.

Funny you say that, I also live in Washington state. Ever hear of Boeing or Microsoft? How about Nintendo? Washington is pretty job wealthy. Try getting a job at Boeing, they start quite a bit above minimum wage. Stick with them for a few years and you will clear 50k easily.

Yep, that's what it is. Disgusting isn't it. And no, you can't pay the the rent, utilities, grocery and automotive expenses all on 7.25/hr. Not if even 2 adults are working for that pay. And of course, since the job market is what it is now, more and more companies are paying lower wages and even jobs that once paid 10-15/hr are lowering that even back to the minimum just because people are so hard up they can't afford to say no.
I guess the only plus is that at least my teenage daughter can make $7.25 instead of half that because if we had to go back to making minimum wage again we wouldn't be able to feed her.

So hell to the NO, I don't want the same government that thinks $7.25 is a fair wage to have anything to do with my health care!

All the problems. More and more by the day. More and more laws made up that are NO GOOD. The workers, small buisness, reg buisnesses, we all getting F#. A problem with this, a problem with that. THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS FAILING. It is like a leaky rusty old pipe. A crack forms a drip, so someone puts a bucket under. Another leak and another bucket. Each leak is a symptom of a larger problem. I complain, he complains, a bailout here , a bailout there. THE CLOCK IS TICKING FOLKS and one day the old rusty leaky pipe is going to burst. I believe that to many people makin to many problems and not much love to go round, tell me why this is the land of confusion. youtu.bezU9Iv..._WqK6k Low wage, med. wage, big wage. There are so many of us people in the low to med. wage who are barely getting by and it is not due to lack of not wanting to. THAT is farse. Small buisness, med. buisnesses all taking a mega squeeze. I SAY, IT IS NOT RIGHT. THE SYSTEM IS GETTING WORSE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO FIX THE LEAKS, IF WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE PIPE.
I care, and maybe you do to. Each of us have different issues. LIKE I SAID, a leak here a leak there. Thes issues are a symptom of a larger problem. LETS FIX THE PIPE, OR REPLACE THE WHOLE THING. I don't care if you make $7 and hour or a 200,000 a year. We all contribute in some way. BUT, we all be dam# if we don't do something about it. I want to know if it is the bilderbergers or it was just our pure dumb thinking.I would rather have an idea than nothing at all. WE all deserve to KNOW WHAT THE CAUSE IS, so we can fix it. People need to stop being a TROLL, OR A BIGGIT,A POMPASS EGOMANIAC, OR A PERSON WHO RIDICULES OTHERS ALL DAY. ALSO, and all the others. We should just take steps to get this out in the open, so it can be fixed. I FEAR, THAT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN.

I read that the Federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. I knew it was low but I think that is crazy. How could you afford to live on that?

??? It's not meant to be a supportable wage. If someone out there is trying to carry a car note, pay for a mortgage, buy groceries, pay utilities, and support a family on $7.25 an hour red flags should be popping up.
