BIG BANKSTER THUGS GOT BAILOUTS. THEY ARE CONNECTED TO HOUSING. This is why you pay so much in rent. Did they take a cut in this recession, NO. YOU DO. Did the housing costs go down on how much you pay rent. NO. It is the BANKSTER THUGS.

NOW WITH THESE FIGURES IN MIND: and this is very close to actuals even tho they take out more.

Average rent: $850. a month.

Phone: $65 a month.
Gas car to go to work, average 25 miles to work.To fill my tank is $35. and i go thru 2 fills a week.=$70.
Insurance car: $50. a month.
Food: $200. a month.

$14hr. YES, BARELY, NOT RECOMMENDED
$15hr. YES
$16hr. YES
I feel sorry for those that have children. This only makes things worse.
Most places around here hire you thru temp. services, because buisnesses do not want to pay for health insurance on a newbie. Most temp. services around here start you at $9 dollars an hour. More often what happens they don't hire you after your 90 day trial period and you end up quitting or they say that they don't need you anymore. This practice has been going on since the 80's. If you say something about this they get rid of you and say there is no more work to be done and then they go and hire a new temp and start the process all over again. THIS IS THE NEW FACIST ECONOMY WE HAVE HERE.
Most people get one or two roomates, because they cannot afford to live in the apartments. Rent usually goes up from $850 a month for a one bedroom to a two bedroom apartment.
THE BANKS did not take a cut for our recession. That is why the rent on apartments did not go down at all, it only went UP.
The way around here is, it is helpful to have a two or more person system with helping the bills. Laws here say that you can have only 1 person per bedroom under the age of 12. Remember, the more bedrooms the more exspensive it is to pay.

Housing costs are the problem. CUT them in HALF. instead of $850 month rent it should be $425. THE BANKSTER THUGS did not go down when the recession hit. THEY ONLY WENT UP. If people had more money in thier pockets to spend, then buisnesses would thrive. I SAY, cut housing in half. CUT IT NOW.

CUT THEM OFF NOW, OBAMA.

Every thing you are saying will cripple the small business.

You are right about Walmart, we don't need them. However, many people want them and shop there every day. What about the people that are happy with the service they provide?

If their market share is limited and consumer rights ensure profit margins are fair it will create a more level playing field for our brothers that own a small business. There will be more opportunity.

They should be forced(corporations like wallmart)to have a certain percentage of their workforce on American soil to curb the use of foreign labour. And they should be forced to buy a certain percent of their products on US soil to protect?encourage manufacturing.

Yeah, it pretty much bites to be here when you see the painful contrast between the haves and have nots. It is shameful when you consider how hard the 'middle class' has worked only to be spat upon by wal street and walmart alike. As a single mother of a disabled child I can tell you it isn't easy, but here's the clincher....I'm going to school for my Associate's Degree in science. After I get my degree, I will be able to start a career that will pay far better. The real difference between the haves and have nots is not for the most part an instance of chance but a willingness to further the education into a field that is actually worth something like science, math, and engineering fields. Those who will apply themselves and use their common sense to make a career will be able to afford a better life than the slackers who would rather flip burgers or work at the corner seven-eleven for the rest of their lives.
Now I know that there are circumstances that come into play, but hey, I worked through high school, I've owned two businesses, and now I'm working on going into my third career. I was too busy to go to college right out of high school but at 37 I've gone in. I can't listen to those spineless weaklings who say ' I can't do it' or " Oh, you're so lucky" because luck has nothing to do with it, work does. And someone who says they can't do something if they've never tried have lost the battle before the war has begun.
If one surrenders before being challenged, then they deserve the poor scrapings they earn.

Minimum wage in the UK for those aged 21 and above is £6.08

It's risen since I was fired from my last job in 2008 for having time off work due to depression and constant tests to make sure I didn't have cancer.

what is even more depressing is that once you convert that 7.25 an hour to aussie dollars it is 7.10 an hour AUD.

but that's what side jobs are for. An extra 700-800 a month doing geetar lessons helps.

Basically, making minimum wage, you have to scratch and claw to make ends meet.

And apparently there are struggling small business owners that think they are "smarter" than you. Better than you. People should be angry about that.

Making quotes up and even then out of context. Are you a democrat speech writer by any chance? I said nothing of the sort. I said I was smarter than YOU. I happen to employ people like this and appreciate it greatly.

I am struggling because of Obama and his administration's policies and actions, and the liberal policies of the state in which I live. I have no misconceptions about why business is bad. There is plenty of blame to go around.

That's why you need to get an education and better yourself. It's called "incentive" so don't bitch about being 35 with 3 kids making minimum wage, mkay? High school kids don't need to "scratch and claw to make ends meet". They have to pay for their MW3 game and their skateboards.

You seem to just digress into calling people names and throwing out insults. It is hard to take you seriously.

Maybe the approach you use is part of America's problem?

Only freedom in the market place can fix this!

People assume that but honestly, benefits are much worse to be on.

You have your housing paid for sure but I'm living at home because I can't afford any other option and don't get that part of the benefit. I'm also on £130 every fortnight and trust me, that doesn't last at all when I have to pay my parents to stay in the family home, help pay for food and electricity out of my benefits because her full time job doesn't pay enough.

We're classed as being in poverty and below the breadline but people have the misconception that all benefits claimants are scroungers who sit at home all day because they don't want to work or that it's better to be on benefits than to be in full time work.

Wrong on both counts.

Just because a minority cheat the system successfully for a few years and then get lots of publicity talking about how easy it is and how much they screw the government out of, doesn't mean we all live like kings. We hate those people as much as you do but unfortunately, the closed mindedness of people in work see those boasting and then think every claimant on benefits is the same.

If you're struggling financially, go to a Citizen's Advice Bureau for help but please don't assume you'll be better off on benefits because that's just false.

FYI you can make a lot more money on unemployment than a 40 hr a week minimum wage job pays. i qualify for 2k a month on unemployment and can get it for up to 99 weeks with federal extensions....i have a job i am not on unemployment just to clarify..

Well maybe if you had done a little better in school and if you were a little "smarter" your struggling small business would actually be thriving. Is it really Obams fault that you have failed? Maybe it is your fault because you are not "smarter"

slackers. HEY buddy, i am a tech and i programm robots and put in molds in presses. I lost my job because it went overseas and now i cannot find a job at the moment. Don't pick and choose job titles just because you have an EGO PROBLEM. People have to work somewhere. I know people who work at mcdonald's and have a better outlook on others than you do on them.

Nope.

I have an education, top of the class in every subject, passed my final exams with flying colours.

The problem is, school and college leavers such as myself (the latter in my case since I gained further education to try and get into university until I saw how expensive that would be and stuck to just the college thing until the end) are only given minimum wage jobs such as store work because they don't have the experience needed.

I can do management jobs and stuff in IT because I know how to do that and have delegated while filling in for supervisors before over the years in various jobs but because a previous job was never listed as "manager", I get denied jobs like that because I haven't had official manager's experience according to them.

My brother took IT courses in college and can do a lot with computers but because he never worked a previous job in the fields he was taught in for several years, he can't find a job either.

Whether you're educated or not, the system (at least in the UK, no idea about other countires) has always been that of "we can't employ you if you haven't worked in a similar role in another company" for the 11 years since I left high school with hopes and dreams of getting my ideal job after finishing college.

I thought you were leaving.Im glad you stuck around. Your strawman comments are helpful. Again,it may give you comfort to tell yourself you are better than some people but it isnt their fault your business isnt doing as well as you would like. By your rational it is all your fault. You have nobody to blame but yourself. You should have worked harder in college. America is the land of opportunity so what are you complaining about? You need to work harder. Spend less time focusing energy on blaming others and take some responsibility.
