First of all, define wealthy. I define it as the ultra-rich 1%.
People here seem to believe that the super wealthy - multimillionaires and billionaires - have actually earned their income. Are they so superior to everyone else? Do they really deserve it?

If wealth was the inevitable result of hard work and enterprise, every woman in Africa would be a millionaire - George Monbiot

Their wealth has only been made possible by the hundreds of others who work for them. These people destroy jobs as many jobs as they create they and with the help of a rigged, unjust economic system steal the wealth of the poor and middle class.

Taxes and inflation keep the middle-class and lower in their bracket, or worse, cause them to drop. Even if it really was "so easy to make money in America" and all the Americans around or below the poverty line suddenly moved up...they would be forced back down via taxes and inflation (a hidden tax).

Personally, I don't think anyone's income should be taxed as we already are taxed whenever we go to spend it.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

The tax code in this country is designed to PROMOTE business. The one man lemonade stand has HUGE tax advantages over the employee working at a JOB.

Stop working for someone else to make them rich and go out, take a risk and make yourself rich.

All i hear are whiny crybaby excuses.

Perhaps you will at least join the rest of the world and agree they should be paying the same rate of taxes on income as the rest of us? Do you think they should get enormous incentives and breaks and loopholes the rest of us are not entitled to? Do you think poor people should make up the difference because the wealthy are sending their money to off shore accounts where it CAN'T be taxed?

All anybody wants is for the wealthy to pay THE SAME TAX RATE AS EVERYONE ELSE!

YEAH! And then you can open an off shore account, cheat on your taxes and hide your true value and income so the nasty government doesn't ask you to help pay to maintain Federal Buildings, Parks, Conservation Areas, PUBLIC PROPERTY and roads, bridges, etc.!!! Let the poor do that - Lord knows there are enough of them.

As a matter of fact we will give you a big fat tax break when you reach a certain level of wealth.

You will NOT have to pay the same rate of income tax as those pathetic suckers we call the poor.
Psst...don't tell THEM that however. Let's just keep that little secret under our hats.

Yeah...definitely keep the tax breaks for the rich!
We don't want them to get mad and move to China do we?

lol ...as if.

They will move their BUSINESSES TO CHINA
but not their families -
and so they DO support COMMUNISM
(inc. child labor, human and animal abuses)
to a great extent.

Just not enough to move there.

That to me is the real pity.

What a foolish and immature response.

So by your ahem... "logic" every "rich" person and or "company" is inherently evil?

So you live off the grid in the woods completely self sufficient living off the land?

But you do use a computer, produced by a COMPANY and connected to the internet owned by a COMPANY, that in your twisted view is evil?

Your making excuses. The tax breaks for the rich are to encourage you to become rich. You unfortunately believe there is some magical barrier keeping you from becoming rich.

I'll let you in on a little secret... the barrier is YOU.

You might wanna ask your grandfather about how high the tax rate for the top 1% was back then to realize what nonsense this thread is

As for them working hard, that's not necessarily the case. I am part of the top 1% using the US government's classification, and I don't think it's right that I only pay 15% on the bulk of my income. I'm essentially paying the same as someone making $32k per year. Luckily, some people like Buffet (evil socialist...I know) agree with me.

The fact of the matter is, if you have a lot of money, the bulk of your income comes from investments...which are taxed at a FRACTION of regular taxes. It's a loop hole created by bought sock puppet politicians who were paid of by big business.

Don't get me wrong, I looooove low taxes. But I also realize that them rigging the system in my favor completely destroys the country. And the same goes for a ton of western countries, including the UK. And quite frankly, even a 3% increase in my taxes (and of course that of people who make the same or more) would pretty much fix the deficits...and it wouldn't hurt me in the least. It's silly to cut funding for people who are unfortunate enough to live on the street, and excusing it with "can't afford it"...while giving MASSIVE tax breaks to people who really don't need it. If I make $500k or $750k or $1.5m per year, it really doesn't make much of a difference in my lifestyle

So... ahem...equality, fair play and equal treatment is "foolish" and "immature?"

Also - what sort of "logic" are you employing to determine I call all companies (lol) and the rich inherently evil?

The WORST I said essentially is people who export American jobs overseas are a little bit Communist. Is that evil? Or is that just a little bit Communist?

The rest of it is more ludicrous and inaccurate presumptions on your part to further your position that fairness is "twisted."

You, unfortunately...do not know what I believe.
You only know what I said - and from there you make things up.

There is no excuse for preferential treatment or exclusive benefit and privilege to go to a select few while disregarding the rest. I don't NEED to make any excuses for fairness and equality. It is correct and desirable and anything else is inherently CRIMINAL according to our Constitution

All men are created equal.

Ring any bells?

I'll let you in on a little secret....
The political system you are pitching has already been tried.
It is called an oligarchy and historically - they don't work out well.
Most people know that.
