The President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, does not support the idea of giving the EU citizens a right to choose directly the president
of the Commission. On the contrary, Mr Prodi would give national parliaments and members of the European parliament a say in choosing the best
candidate, which obviously would strengthen authority and legitimacy of the Commission.
According to the Financial Times, Mr Prodi and other EU commissioners have discussed the possibility of having direct elections in order to give the
future president a massive democratic mandate. However, they have concluded that it is almost impossible to run a meaningful election campaign all
across the EU.

It's like to write: " Now, US citizens will not vote anymore for their President. The State Governors will be responsible for the Presidential
elections.They'll chose the President and the basic citizen will not have anything to say in that election "
