NATO fuel tankers attacked in Pakistan

www.google.com

QUETTA, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani police say assailants have fired rockets at tankers carrying fuel for U.S-led troops in Afghanistan, setting at least 10 vehicles on fire.

The attack Thursday was the first since Pakistan closed the border for trucks carrying Afghan war supplies to protest a Nov. 26 NATO airstrike that killed 24 Pakistani troops on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Police officer Hamid Shakil says the tanker attack took place at a roadside terminal close to the southwestern city of Quetta.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Very interesting as the Pakistanis ill feeling of late towards NATO and the US. BBC news just reported the attacks as well. I wonder what may come of this.

This is breaking just now so there will be more news as the story develops.

Was it security forces or tribal retribution responsible for these attacks?

Not good! I think this is going to be matched with some serious repercussions!

I am surprised it hasn't happened yet!

If it is vigilante groups in retaliation I wonder how far the Pakistan government will move to distance themselves from the attacks given the growing public outrage of recent weeks.
And I suppose vigilante could be another way of saying Taliban.

Either way this is a situation no-one wants to spiral out of control.

It's been out of control since we started killing people in Pakistan with drones.
It's been out of control since we attacked Pakistani troops.
It's been out of control since we decided to play CPT Save-A-Country...

That's normal foreign policy these days, hardly out of control.
Up until now it has all been relatively containable with some sort of facade of control, this could get much, much worse or it could stay on similar terms as it has in the past.
Who knows?
