Honestly even if Putin is lying I have more reason to trust him then the US.
Knowing Americas history tho I would not doubt it for one second, wether they know it or not Russia needs a leader who will stand up to the US.

Russia would not make these claims without proof. And when I say Russia, I mean Russia because Putin is Russian nationalism personified.

On top of this, Putin is ex-KGB so he knows how to play the intelligence game. He knows how to use information to his advantage.

Yup he certainly knew how to loot his country of $40 billion dollars to make himself the richest man in Europe.

he certainly knows how to close down and arrest all opposition.

Certainly thinks it's cool to murder all sorts of journalist who try and expose him.

Yes Putin is KGB - and you know what their specialisation was right!? - yes! that would be disinformation, deception and propaganda - in fact they are so specialised at this, they have more words for it than eskimo's have for snow.

Now what is the USA going to say? First Assad of Syria accuses of foreign meddling and now Russia is doing the same thing of the USA. What are we gonna say

With results like this:

Putin got 99.48% of the votes in CHECHNYA of all places!

We don't need to say anything.

Kind of speaks for itself.

If that were true, then his party would have won far more than the meager 48% of the vote...Also, accusations of ballot stuffing, hacking, and voter intimidation wouldn't be thrown around so cheaply as they are today.

The problem with Putin is he is a polarizing figure. Mikail Gorbachev acknowledges this. Russians do NOT want a dictator, and with Putin, that is exactly what they are getting. A man who has overstepped his bounds as well as the democratic process with the Russian people. Putin is not nearly has popular as you assume him to be.

As you said, pride cometh before the fall. You ignorantly attach it to America whilst overlooking flaws elsewhere around the world, particularity in a country as corrupt as Russia.

Yes, he knows "the propaganda game" all to well. Blame the west for the fact that he is considered a lame duck in Russia...that'll teach em.

It means that while there may be some truth behind it, it probably is over-exaggerated to varying degrees. Blaming the west in these regions (particularly blaming the US) is an easy out.

The fact is, politicians are corrupt, even more so in various regions around the world. Especially in the mid-east...And Russia? They are widely regarded as one of the most corrupt nations on the planet. US corruption doesnt hold a candle to the type of things that go on there.

I actually saw Putin in a hotel lobby once and thought nothing of it . Boris was still the president and Putin was a KGB spook .

This was the time when USSR were being dissolved or seemed that way .

Fast forward to year 2011 and witness the fact that Russians actually expected more then what they've got under this Capitalist - Democratic regime .

Putin is still the stron man of Russia but more and more Russians are looking for a better government .

Stagnation is what Russia is facing and her people do deserve better living conditions .

Russia was totally ruthless and fast in her Capitalistic moves over last 20 years .

Russian's do want and need to see the Democratic progress and Rodina's Capitalistic - Democracy ought to be better then Western Democracies .

Can Russians do it ?

Sure they can .

Will they do it ?

Probably yes .

USA does not create the dis-satisfaction of Russian voters .

US is already broken and that is why you see this site is being funded.

People should be informed about what US has done to other nations , and that the economy has broken ( the elites have moved their money out of US , to China)

Then it will collapse by a whistle.

Don't confuse the U.S. Government with the 99% of American citizens. We really have NO control over what our government does just as you have NO control over your government. So us regular people need to stick together, no matter what country we are from because we are all in the same boat. PEACE.

Gorbachev calls for Russian elections to be declared void!

Vladimir Putin's United Russia party won less than 50% of Sunday's vote, a steep fall from its earlier two-thirds majority, according to preliminary results. But opposition parties and international observers said the vote was marred by vote-rigging, including alleged ballot-box stuffing and false voter rolls. "More and more people are starting to believe that the election results are not fair,

" he told Interfax. "I believe that ignoring public opinion discredits the authorities and destabilises the situation." Gorbachev added that authorities "must admit that there have been numerous falsifications and ballot stuffing".

Funny that, because its actually Chinese ex-patriots leaving China in droves and investing in the US.

I suppose you dont really understand economics in general, but Ill make this short, and if you persist, I will then apply the coup de grace. China is a bubble economy. they depend on fixed investments to spur artificial growth, and exports. Todays china is best compared to 1980's Japan, except the real-estate/credit default/property bubble is much MUCH larger.

Then it will collapse by a whistle.

Like Irans economy already has? lol Keep dreaming.

Why the USA bothers to call itself a democracy is beyond me when it's clearly not.

The people are almost entirely stupid and haven't had enough.

Russian nationalists vary in political perspectives. The simple fact is that Putin's party has done nothing but good things for the Russian nation. Russia has no debt and they are, in fact, an energy powerhouse which is very useful for geopolitical play. The Russian people love Putin for this, to the point of turning him into a celebrity.

The reason for less votes going to his party is not some black and white argument of "they like him less so they voted less for him". This is politics that we are discussing here. Especially when it comes to Russia, there is a strong presense of factional nationalist parties that range from the communists (who got second in the polls) to neo-Nazis.

Even if Putin is not all that popular as he appears to be in Russia, he is still the moderate choice compared to the other leading parties. It begs to question of why the Americans felt it necessary to work against Putin by interfering in Russian elections. Perhaps they want a radical and aggressive Russian regime to come into power so it can further intensify relations.

Putin is considered a lame duck in Russia?
Tell that to his youth army following, and to any common Russian who enjoys autonomy. People who bitch about corruption under Putin, clearly know nothing about Russia culture- because if they did, they would realize that corruption is in fact a part of Russian culture. It's called "survival of the fittest" and if Putin is still at the top in Russia, than he is clearly the fittest to lead. In fact, I can't think of a single leader in Russia's history that was too weak-minded to not prove himself powerful- Gorbachev dismantled the USSR, and even Yeltzin bombed Grozny to the ground.

TechniXcality-
Im tired of you Russian posters all you want to do is antagonize

Read under my username, where it clearly reads "British Columbia". That's in Canada. I've never left the country. My username has nothing to do with who I really am, as is internet protocol.

In fact, I've only seen perhaps two or three Russian posters on this site and they happen to have the most informed and logical reasoning that I've ever seen around here. This is because Russians do not delude themselves behind some ideological veil like people of the West, who think their way should be the world's way.

americans criticising russia on democracy.

america's democracy consists of 2 minority political party's completely hijacking the gateway to the presidency and hoarding power for it's elite members.

the only way to the senate and the whitehouse is thru a democrat or a republican.

to top it off it has corrupted the media and sold itself for profit.
