I'd probably take a stranger over a known sensationalist and liar. At least you have a change of the truth with a stranger.

I knew you would flame on me about it, or someone else here but who cares. After his radio show today, I am 100 % certain he is a sincere and true Patriot.

The founder were wrong on many things...slavery, not letting women vote, killing off the natives.

Why is it so surprising to you that people have differing opinions with the "founders"...they are irrelevant today...they aren't gods to be worshipped.

In todays world, the founders would be viewed as extremist idiots...I doubt if they would even get 1% of any vote.

So, instead, we let a different level of Moron be in an office he's not qualified to be in because people are too lazy to think and or act for themselves? We let a Moron like that run a country because, Oh Hell... Why does it matter. Too many people would rather hit the keyboards and forums, or watch Golden Girl re-runs than get involved in anyway that requires intelligence, thought, and action. Had that not been the case then the Moron would not now be in office while we, who knew better, watch him and his sainted few tear us apart for their own amusement.

And you just kind of showed your limit as well. The Founders are just as relevant today as 200+ years ago, because Morons and Jackals are still around in the offices they fill. How soon you would forget older lessons, called wisdom by people with smarts. No... Irrelevant? Give me a break. If you want to keep learning lessons over and over again, only to continually find yourself taking it up the Ol' Wazoomy, do it, but do it on your own time. I'd just as soon we had the paradigms that we have in place that have worked since about day one, in spite of our mistakes and and bad judgments.

You are going to have to go a little deeper, i mean.... Really scratch your head to come up with places that haven't made a few mistakes. Germany undefr Hitler comes to mind, Russia comes to mind, Viet Nam, Cambodia, and Laos come to mind. China comes to mind... All places where literally millions have been tortured and put to death for various reasons (most of them not even valid, and you don't see the jokes or irony inside this set of parentheses).

Fortunately for you, the stupid ideas and ideals of those extremist idiots, the Founding Fathers make it possible for you to belly up to the keyboard, scratch your head, pick your nose, and then post this kind of malodorous, and ever so slightly reeking pile of detritus.

Yup... All we need is one of the 99% who wouldn't vote for them for office to get in there and bungle things... Oh! Too Late. He's already there.

While I agree with most of what you said, why through the term pothead at the end? Because Obama's a liberal and all liberals are potheads? Is this your logic?

I only mention it because smoking pot has nothing to do with what a man thinks, just how he thinks it maybe. Pot frees your mind from certain inhibitions and causing a burst in mental activity, it doesn't invoke ideas supporting paternalism.

Plus, those brave men who fought the revolution were known to partake in many a mind altering substance, and pot was available (even if only in the form of hemp) thanks to good ole' Jorge Washington

They were for free-market competition as evidenced by the Boston Tea Party and their boycotts of monopolistic companies used to levy taxes without representation.
They were not for Socialism, as some people around here and on the Internet have been suggesting.

We have come to a clear realization of the fact that true individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. “Necessitous men are not free men.”[3] People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made. - FDR

I will say it again. Regan was the down fall of this country. It will fall. Any one notice dictatorship ... Obama ... Joblessness .. fear .... compare

Opportunity
 The right to a useful and remunerative job…
 The right to a good education.
 The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies…

Security
 The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment.
 The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health.
 The right of every family to a decent home.
 The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation.

STOP SPENDING MONEY ON THE BANKS AND SPEND IT ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. LET THE BANKS FAIL. its going to suck if they do , but its the way of business. They fail if you spend beyond your means .....

the quote in the opening article is a fabrication and the entire article it is taken from is an outright lie an piece of political propaganda...
where are the MODs when you need them.

misquoting a president to promote a sickening agenda of disloyalty is just appalling.

I've been wondering the same thing since page two.
But here I am, 5 pages later...

Ditto. It's astonishing to me that ATS has allowed this ridiculous flag-fest to continue unchecked.

Forget "Deny Ignorance", "Embrace Ignorance" is the order of the day. It seems to me that too many members are too lazy to be bothered with details, such as actually reading the thread, let alone digging deep enough to be sure that there are any real "facts" involved.

Way to go, Mods. Keep up the good work.

Well...you seem to love the founding fathers.

Tell me...would you vote for a President who used the US Army to march on farmers to collect their taxes???

If not...you probably wouldn't vote for George Washington. Can you imagine if Obama did that today???

First off a free market is a free market that is absent of any Government intervention secondly don't recall anywhere in the constitution what it says fair share with exception of that line that goes all taxation must be uniform through out this country.

As to the Obama running his mouth and lying his arse off its pretty simple the only people who get to dictate anything is government anyone who gets to be successful is government ok well who they say can be.

The founders were not even close to being perfect but they were all a hell of a lot better than the fascist nazi potus we have now.

Founders have problems the people solve them
Obama have problems never fear government is hear to save you

And we have all seen how well that has worked out

Just out of curiosity, how did you interpret POTUS' message?
Rush and Glenn have also interpreted the Obama's speech as anti-American anti Capitalist and very socialist, communist.
If it's between you and Glenn, I'll take Glenn's word for it.

If I were you I'd take my own word for it rather than a biased news commentator who makes a living off of his extreme partisan commentary. If your your thoughts are the same as theirs and you consider all the facts...aka you heard/read the whole speech and still arrive at the same conclusion then good for you! There is no right way and you have interrupted it your way which is the way it's meant to be. (On a side note, out of all the conservative talk hosts I prefer Jason Lewis (fox radio) to Glenn or Rush as he tries to use logic more than hate/fear to generate an audience.) I'm merely defending truth as I would do the same for Bush,Clinton,Bush Sr., Reagan, Carter etc. The fact of the matter is that the OP twisted the meaning of the original speech.

I'm not saying Obama is great or that those were his words or beliefs delivered as it was a speech written by an above average writer who knows what their doing. More than likely it was a speech written to acquire votes for the next election. That being said, don't you think it's counterproductive to give a speech bashing the forefathers and the free market to gain votes? (Do you really think that the people involved in elections don't know what is good or bad for an election?) If you understand basic English and read or heard the speech you would conclude that he wasn't saying what Glenn or the OP concluded.

esterday, President Obama signed an executive order claiming the right to incarcerate persons in the Guantanamo Bay military prison for the duration of their natural lives even after acquittal. You heard that correctly. After acquittal.

Following upon President Bush, President Obama has claimed the power to punish people even after a jury has found them not guilty.

No western government has ever claimed the power to do this. Not the king of England, not Hitler, not Stalin, not even the Russian and Chinese communists. And I realize that most Americans have little sympathy for those incarcerated at Gitmo and most, no doubt, assume that they are there because they probably did something wrong. They must be guilty of something. But that view turns the Constitution on its head.

........ i hate terrorist i really do , but if a JURY finds a person innocent .. then that person is innocent whether you like it or not ... or guilty. If you run up to him and kill him after his aquittal , hey thats all you. I mean seriously Obama?

--------------------------------------

The Fifth Amendment prohibits the government from taking property without paying for it just as the king and the parliament had done. Well, that, too, hasn't worked out as planned because the feds take property from us almost every day. It's called income taxes.

Throughout history, the government has openly mocked the Constitution. Lincoln, for example, claimed he could violate parts of it in order to preserve other parts. Wilson said that it gave him the power to tell folks how to live. FDR actually wrote laws himself and enforced them even though the Constitution only permits the Congress to write laws.

www.foxnews.com...

Most news networks are corrupt now days .. i realize this ... but this man has a point lol.

"The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. ..." - Thomas Jefferson

If industrial pollutants and contaminants kill only some people, they are still injurious to "others." As more and more poisons are produced, and spread round the world, more and more people are becoming sick - some die, many more live debilitated and disabled.

This year, 37 million will die from industry-related chronic disease. In 2020, 44 million will die.

Corporations are NOT people - but they have more rights than people. When is enough enough?

You do have a point here. Obama's speeches are written by someone other than himself, he just delivers the messages given to him by his handlers. It is no accident that this speech is delivered giving alms to a Republican President who just happened to be big govt. What's new though? They keep trying all these different tacks. Early on, remember Obama and Michelle were emulating JFK and Jackie O and their Camelot. That wore off soon enough. Obama has tried to emulate Reagan.
His speech writers tried to emulate and indeed even lifted entire statements from the speeches of Malcolm X. Obama also has been very Carteresque as well. He tried to emulate FDR for a while, and now Teddy. When will it end? oh please let it be finished in 2012, when a new President, ANY President other than he will emerge.

Mr. Obama has technically renounced his Oath of office to the American people in that speech he gave. He has declared the Constitution does not work and simply will not work. Is he not sworn to defend and uphold the constitution ....

Would i not be breaking my Military oath to support orders from a commander that is denying the constitutional rights of the American citizens? When i am upheld to an oath to defend the Constitution against enemies that are foreign and domestic? Is he not a domestic threat to the Constitution of The United States of America?

Is that not termed under military law a traitor to the United States of America? I have abandoned my oath and my fellow comrades in battle and took flee from the battlefield? Is this not a firing squad penalty?

Obama has stated in the past that he felt the Constitution was a "restrictive" (his words) document-well duh-that's EXACTLY what it's supposed to be-it's supposed to prevent exactly all the stuff this turkey is trying to do!!
