Mr. Obama has technically renounced his Oath of office to the American people in that speech he gave. He has declared the Constitution does not work and simply will not work. Is he not sworn to defend and uphold the constitution ....

Would i not be breaking my Military oath to support orders from a commander that is denying the constitutional rights of the American citizens? When i am upheld to an oath to defend the Constitution against enemies that are foreign and domestic? Is he not a domestic threat to the Constitution of The United States of America?

The Constitution has been twisted so that corporate "persons" rights over-ride human peoples' rights.

Obama didn't do that - it took generations of power-and-$$-hungry Republicans AND Democrats to pull it off.

When a politician promises you a "free market", he's going to deliver you corporatism and plutocracy.

Reaganesque "hate the goverment"/"big government"/"government is the problem"-rhetoric is designed for one purpose and one purpose only: to make you believe you as a population can never seize control over your government, so that you may truly make a clean sweep and create a just society. Why does the richest country in the world have an astronomical income gap and millions below the poverty line?

Obama is anything but a socialist. If you have any doubt about Obama's free market prowess, I suggest you look which corporate bigshots donated to his 2008 presidential campaign. Among them: Google, Microsoft, JP Morgan Chase. His cabinet is chock full with Wall Street execs. I'm from Europe. The definition of socialist you are programmed to believe is a lie. We have no socialist governments here. The current French government is right wing. The German government is right wing. The Dutch government is right wing. The UK government is right wing. The Italian government is right wing. Who lied to you? Start looking at your media. Yes, especially Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge, Ann Coultier, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, The Wall Street Journal, Fox News, and so on.

You are being lied to. What some, enlightened Europeans see when they look at Obama, is a blatant corporatist, who appears to have applied himself to break the current world record repudiating campaign promises. Such an insidious, all-encompassing, confusion fostering, historical revisionist and jingoist propaganda apparatus as exists in the US has never seen its equal in the course of human history. The mixture, or rather, pollution of opinion into "news reporting" since 9/11 has gone totally ape sh--. You think you have an independent mind? Switch off your laptop, turn off your TV, and go read some pre-9/11 books in the library.

The trick is to make you believe Obama's failed policies are "socialist", so that you'll look away from the real gangsters who took your money and your civil liberties. Obama is Wall Street. Both parties are Wall Street.

Have a look:

Income inequality in the United States

Wake up. Please wake up. Ron Paul Libertarianism is a ploy (without Ron Paul's deliberate participation), a political pseudo-liberation ideology of last resort. Whoever opposes the system is caught in the Ron Paul (actually it harkens back to Milton Friedman) release valve, which, if against all odds successful, will at least protect the top income percentiles and their possessions from rowdy insurgents taking back money and property extracted through criminal activities (racketeering, monopolism, cartel formation, corruption, fraud, theft, tax evasion, illegal acquisition of government and FED stipends). After all, you wouldn't want to be a "socialist" or a "communist" would you? You have been raised from the cradle to hate socialism. You should ask yourself why socialism and atheism are so hated by everybody in the mainstream media, why so much propaganda money is spent on scaring you sh*tless on this concept. Think about it long and hard. They will want you to read "Animal Farm", but not this:

The real objective of Socialism is human brotherhood. This is widely felt to be the case, though it is not usually said, or not said loudly enough. Men use up their lives in heart-breaking political struggles, or get themselves killed in civil wars, or tortured in the secret prisons of the Gestapo, not in order to establish some central-heated, air-conditioned, strip-lighted Paradise, but because they want a world in which human beings love one another instead of swindling and murdering one another. And they want that world as a first step. Where they go from there is not so certain, and the attempt to foresee it in detail merely confuses the issue.

-- George Orwell (democratic socialist), "Can Socialists Be Happy?", 1943

Why is that? To feel brotherhood, to care for one another, to reject egoism and share things with one other, in other words; to be human, is a mortal threat to the ruling class, since a culture of greed and egoism (Ayn Rand calls this "rational self-interest", others call it "rugged individualism") is the only true guarantee of the sort of class separated society the wealthy barons who run your country and mine are trying to preserve. Divide and conquer. Unplug from the propaganda grid and expand your horizons. The internet will surely confirm for you whatever you wish to believe. Try the local library instead. Had you ever heard of this Orwell quote? There are heaps of such essays and books out there, they don't want you to read. Ask yourself why not. Ask yourself why socialism is the designated demon, while there is no true socialist in sight, least of all a Wall Street errand boy like Barack Obama.

The founder were wrong on many things...slavery, not letting women vote, killing off the natives.

Why is it so surprising to you that people have differing opinions with the "founders"...they are irrelevant today...they aren't gods to be worshipped.

In todays world, the founders would be viewed as extremist idiots...I doubt if they would even get 1% of any vote.

You're right. Anyone whose platform includes freedom, rights, and ownership of oneself will never be elected president in America. Those ideas are too extreme and wacko.

Unfortunately, I'm not kidding.

Correct. Not only is it a contextomy, along the lines of Hannity and Breitbart, it further reinforces the relentless propaganda meme that Obama is somehow anti-capitalist.

In a reply directly to the thread topic and OP........

First, THANKS for this thread and the way it was approached. I'm glad the OP here was the direction the first to pick up this story took.

More importantly though....Obama is going to make another little piece of history if he'll just keep making statements like this. He seems to be oblivious to the fact he ran for President of a nation founded on the ideals he just mocked and all but laughed at. So, in addition to a long and varied list of firsts and history, both good and... Wait.. what good? Oh nvm..

His last contribution to history will be the largest landslide defeat in U.S. Presidential election history. All he has to do is keep making speeches like this and keep dis'ing the men *MOST*.......*THE MAJORITY*.... of America consider great figures of history and absolutely wise for their time.

If he'd prefer a socialist nation....He's welcome to go FIND one. This has never been one...and outside the major cities, it never WILL BE one.

I just find it odd that he hasn't addressed the nation that the government the founding fathers put together was wrong, but addresses it to the young impressionable minds of high school students...
older Americans would ridicule him for such slanderous talk.

Where's Thomas Jefferson when you need him (again)???

So all you guys do is blame Obama for all that has happened? How silly is that? Do you know who was Presindent before Obama? He might also have something to do with the situation.

Im no supporter of Obama, but come on man. Did you vote for G.W. Bush?

You people will never change anything in your country if you don´t see that the president is not the one that calls the shots.

Ohh and guess what, Ron Paul will save JACK! It would be nice, but come on. I will NOT happen...

The sooner the baby boomers die off the better. It will be alot easier to fix all the problems you have created when the older generation are gone.

What is most irritating is people think this is just coincidental. It is not. It is not spontaneous evolution of ideas. See the thread in signature.

Many people think they came to these progressive ideas themselves, but in reality they are victims of subversion.

I can't believe this has gotten so far...

*sigh*

Okay... This thread has been debunked twice already (at least), but it seems as though some were not paying attention, so...

Let's start with the title of the OP: Obama says the Founders were wrong

Okay... the President never mentioned the Founding Fathers in that speech. Not once.

Strike one.

Next... (from the OP)

"President Obama did not directly say they were wrong, of course, it was indirect. By declaring our history of rugged individualism and skepticism of government doesn’t work he is saying that the Founders themselves were wrong in their philosophy. Apparently the ideas of limited government and personal liberty as espoused and established by the Founders are good for bumper stickers and that is all, otherwise they need to hush up."

Alright, so now the OP admits that the President never said that directly, but goes on to say that he is "declaring our history of rugged individualism and skepticism of government doesn’t work".

Again, that's not at all what the President said.

"(T)here are some who seem to be suffering from a kind of collective amnesia. After all that’s happened, after the worst economic crisis, the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, they want to return to the same practices that got us into this mess. In fact, they want to go back to the same policies that stacked the deck against middle-class Americans for way too many years. And their philosophy is simple: We are better off when everybody is left to fend for themselves and play by their own rules. I am here to say they are wrong." is what he really said. So he was basically saying that those who are for tax cuts for the wealthy are wrong. Whether or not you agree with that statement is one thing, but to say it was a shot at the Founders is just plain false.

Strike two.

Then he closes with this gem: "A few radical potheads do not know more than brave men who fought a revolution against an empire, much like the one you are running." Now, I'm not going to speculate on who, exactly, these "radical potheads" are, but unless someone in President Obama's cabinet has been busted for possession recently, this is pure speculation on the OP's part, and really has nothing to do with the OP at all.

Strike three.

The mighty OP has struck out.

For anyone actually cares what the President really said, a video and transcript of the speech can be found here.

Just for the record, I'm not a big fan of President Obama either, but if you're gonna despise him it should be for things that the man has actually said and done. Not this drivel.

Text It was not the Federal government that settled the prairies and farmed them under the hot sun; it was not the Federal government that worked the factories to grow our economy, the Federal government when it interfered in those areas only made things worse, not better.
reply to post by Misoir

Who do you think did these things?

If you think factory workers built the country I agree. It wasnt the rich that did all the work,it was the workers. The rich are parasites that are more interested in exploitation than hard work. What is your point? That we should not tax the rich? That corporations should have free run and control? Your Founding Fathers were basically communist when you look at their veiws on incorporation. You should do some more reading.

Are you one of these conservatives that cheers at the thought of allowing someone to die because they dont have health cover? That is the impression you give. You are happy for people to die all around you as long as you can gather a small pile of money. Liberty does not equate to possessing a demonic lack of empathy. Liberty does not equal unbridled greed and selfishness.

I'm sure this is the official campaign kick off speech. A few weeks ago it was announced in the NY Times Op-Ed that the new strategy for winning the Whitehouse is ( to sum it up) to reflect the ideas and people protesting OWS . because they can't camping on what they accomplished. Not much if you include high unemployment and everything thing else wrong with economy. The free college mention in his speech was also a big OWS demand. Would someone tell these people( OWS protestors )that the universities, professors and everyone else providing this free eduction need to be paid. Most of the problem with this administration is Class welfare, In every speech he makes it's always about class welfare. This speech sounded like he was savor of the middle class, when actually it's quite the opposite. He is appealing to OWS crowd, the entire speech was about OWS with a marxist theme. Yep, this is a last ditch effort to say the least by the democratic party for a strategy. The dems need to face the facts, he is a one termer.
