The Hypocrisy of Obama’s “New” Campaign Theme: He Tries to Disavow His “Disavowal of Middleclassness!”

Even before Barack Obama won the Democrats’ nomination, I tried to advise anyone who would listen, to “read his books.”

Today, he and his campaign handlers are trying to position him as the hero of the middle class in America. MSNBC and the New York Times were out front, touting Obama’s “new” focus on the middle class and “main street” America.

Declaring the American middle class in jeopardy, President Barack Obama on Tuesday outlined a populist economic vision that will drive his re-election bid, insisting the United States must reclaim its standing as a country in which everyone can prosper if provided "a fair shot and a fair share."

"This is a make-or-break moment for the middle class and all those who are fighting to get into the middle class," Obama said. "At stake is whether this will be a country where working people can earn enough to raise a family, build a modest savings, own a home and secure their retirement."

Obama sets campaign theme: Middle class at stake

Obama Strikes Populist Chord With Speech on G.O.P. Turf

Of course, this ignores that all of his previous twenty years were spent fostering the disavowal of “middleclassness.”
If anyone bothered to take my warnings to heart, they would have seen this in Chapter 14 of “Dreams from My Father:”

“A Disavowal of the pursuit of Middleclassness', the heading read. While it is permissible to chase ‘middleincomeness’ with all our might, the text stated, those blessed with the talent or good fortune to achieve success in the American mainstream must avoid the psychological entrapment of Black ‘middleclassness’ that hypnotizes the successful brother or sister into believing they are better than the rest and teaches them to think in terms of ‘we’ and ‘they’ instead of 'US'!”

Barack Obama, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance

Will anyone call Obama on his hypocrisy? Will the MSM point out his “disavowal” of the very basis of his new-found campaign theme?

Where did this ideology, this outlook on society come from?
People seem to have forgotten that when all the attention was focused on Obama’s qualifications and affiliations, only one seemed to have been long-standing, the Trinity United Church of Christ, on Chicago’s South Side; as he described in the "About" section of the U.S. Senate website when he was a Democratic senator from Illinois and contender for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. He stated that he and his family "live on Chicago's South Side where they attend Trinity United Church of Christ."

Here’s part of the TUCC members’ guiding doctrine:

."Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:

Commitment to God
Commitment to the Black Community
Commitment to the Black Family
Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness"
Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community
Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions
Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System."

www.tucc.org...

Change the references from “Black” to “White,” and ask yourself, “How many Americans would vote for a presidential candidate who was the member of a church that professed such a racist credo?”

In his memoir, Obama denigrates "middleclassness" as "psychological entrapment" that "hypnotizes" people into thinking they're better than others. He agrees with his socialist reverend Jeremiah Wright that its pursuit should be "disavowed," because it just separates people into classes of "we" and "they," instead of "us."

As a community organizer in Chicago, Obama railed against "white flight" and frowned on blacks who left the inner city for safer neighborhoods and better schools. So why does Obama pay homage to the middle class now?
Simple: Presidential votes.

He's using the middle class as a means to an end — the end being the power to complete his radical agenda. In this, he's following his hero Saul Alinsky's playbook.

Alinsky, the socialist street agitator who wrote "Rules for Radicals," detested the bourgeois "materialism" of the American middle class. But he advised his student radicals to court the middle class, in favor of the cause.

Don't be like 1960s revolutionaries who made fun of the bourgeoisie, he warned. Learn the language of the middle class; share their experience. "Start them easy," he said. "Don't scare them off."

Alinsky revolutionaries, like Obama and his early supporters William Ayers and Van Jones, don't flaunt their radicalism. They keep their hair trimmed and wear suits and ties. They're never outwardly rude. They don't use vulgar language in public. They show respect for authorities. Some even have mortgages and families.
(Recall Harry Reid’s “compliment” on Obama’s appearance, language and speech?)

Some won’t be fooled; Obama is an elitist who skipped the middle class and went straight to his Rezko-financed mansion. He doesn't share our values, but he wants you to share your earnings to pay for his radical social experiments.

And this follows on the heels of his trip to Pennsylvania, which at his San Francisco millionaire’s fund-raiser in 2008, he denigrated as “bitter, ... clinging to their guns and religion.”

You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them.
...
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

Obama on small-town Pa.: Clinging to religion, guns, xenophobia

And so, the MSM and the campaign supporters and the campaign itself will now spend the next 12 months trying to convince a majority of Americans that he is truly “one of us.”
I’m not falling for it, but I wonder how many of those who did in 2008 will fall right in to line, as expected.

Our President could just about fill the White House library with his own books. Not those few he's out peddling whenever he gets a chance or the State Dept finds a sucker to take delivery of a few pallets. No... He could just about restock it with history books each covering different areas he's worked very diligently to re-write or pretend just never happened at all. He's a master at telling us what he's a master at...but does this come in an adult version?

This approach not only follows Alinsky's dictates to a "T," but it was explained in detaiol in Obama's book about his father's socialist agenda, which he proudly studied and adopted.

Are Barack Obama’s “Dreams” Ruining America?

It doesn't matter what he says, as long as he plays to his chosen audience. He will always be able to act contrary to his words and the MSM and his acolytes will just follow along.

It doesn't matter that he doesn't really believe in them, but Obama is struggling to put aside his indifference and "adopt" middle-class values for the campaign:

Fighting to win over unhappy American voters, President Barack Obama and his Republican challengers are seizing on one of the most potent issues this election season: the struggling middle class and the widening gap between rich and poor.

Highlighted by the Occupy movement and fanned by record profits on Wall Street at a time of stubborn unemployment, economic inequality is now taking center stage in the 2012 presidential campaign, emphasized by Obama and offering opportunities and risks for him and his GOP opponents as both sides battle for the allegiance of the angst-ridden electorate.

He is a Disciple of the Art of Doublespeak . When I First Heard him Talk about Saving or Helping the " Middleclass " , I knew in an Instant What he Really Meant , DESTROY it and Usher in the Complete Power Takeover of the Socialist Nanny State . The Poor are already Slaves to the System , the Rich PAY it it's Tribute , and the Middleclass first Suffer the Burden of Personal Economic Destruction, then Cowdown to the Inevitable Masters Whip . Thing is , Will the Majority of them Put On the Yoke of Opression Freely , or Die Fighting Resisting it ? .......

If you were being honest, you would include that these are NOT Obama's words. He was quoting a pamphlet he had read from the Trinity United Church of Christ.

Will the MSM point out his “disavowal” of the very basis of his new-found campaign theme?

Except that Obama himself didn't "disavowal" anything...the Trinity United Church of Christ did. He was quoting their brochure in his book...he never said those words himself.

Your thread is dishonest at the very least...bordering on hoax.

I agree.
To add;

Obama adheres to the Saul Alinksy Rules for Radicals method of politics, which teaches the dark art of destroying political adversaries. However, that text reveals only one front in the radical left's war against America. The Cloward/Piven Strategy is another method employed by the radical Left to create and manage crisis. This strategy explains Rahm Emanuel's ominous statement, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."

The Cloward/Piven Strategy is named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. Their goal is to overthrow capitalism by overwhelming the government bureaucracy with entitlement demands. The created crisis provides the impetus to bring about radical political change.

www.americanthinker.com...

And to high-light Obamas approach towards the middle class;

Will Obama Raise Taxes on the Middle Class?

Throughout his presidency Obama has promised not to raise taxes on the middle class. Yet the mathematical reality is that, in the absence of significant entitlement reform, Washington will need to soak the middle class – because that’s where the big money is.

I predict that if Obama is re-elected, he will propose to eliminate ALL of the Bush tax cuts at the end of 2012, and that he will impose further tax hikes on the middle class as well as the rich in 2013 and beyond. Never mind how devastating that will be for the economy and job creation (or should I say job elimination), that’s the only way he can finance his big-government agenda. Take a look at the chart below:

www.investorsinsight.com...

So the middle class, in my humble opinion, will not just be disvowed actively, but will be the new target, the new bad-guy in order to sway public opinion that taxes need to be raised to further his (Obama) government growth agenda.

Geez...BS much?

I had to google up the book to find the context. Obama didn't say that, he was quoting something in the Trinity church brochure....Why TF can't you ever start with the truth?

And it wasn't disavowing the middle class, it was a call to successful African Americans not to forget their community.

If you had included the begining and end of that passage, both of those facts would have been clear.

What BS.

There was one particular passage in Trinity’s brochure that stood out, though, a commandment more self-conscious in its tone, requiring greater elaboration.

“A Disavowal of the Pursuit of Middleclassness,” the heading read. “While it is permissible to chase ‘middleincomeness’ with all our might,” the text stated, those blessed with the talent or good fortune to achieve success in the American mainstream must avoid the “psychological entrapment of Black ‘middleclassness’ that hypnotizes the successful brother or sister into believing they are better than the rest and teaches them to think in terms of ‘we’ and ‘they’ instead of ‘US’!”

The idea that once someone escapes poverty, they dissassociate with the community they emerged from.

We vs them....as opposed to just "Us".

On the same page Obama discusses how the Church had everyone from the poor to Doctors and Lawyers...

No Disavowing the middle class...geez WTF with spin and BS.

If you could read or have a grownup read the OP to you, you will see that I clearly put the subject phrase in quotes, exactly as Obama did in his book.

You overlook the fact that this was one of the "guidiing principles" of the church from which he received his guidance for over 20 years.

20 years.

Do you see any qualification or rejection of the "disavowal" in his book? NO!
Have you heard any such rejection? NO!

In fact, if you read what he wrote, you will see that the "us vs. them" mentality endorsed by Wright and Trinity are the core of Obama's ideology.
This has been established 100% on ATS already, you just choose to ignore your savior's hidden agenda.

Are Barack Obama’s “Dreams” Ruining America?

Instead of pissing and moaning about your hurt feelings, because the emperor truly has no clothes, you might see if someone who actually completed a decent school will read you his "Dreams From My Father."

The truth is the truth.
Sorry for you.

To be sure, Obama told us even before the election that he would raise energy prices on the middle class astronomically.

One of his first programs was undertaken behind the scenes with Holdren, Chu, Sunsstein and others setting up a "feasibility analysis" of future regs to see how much of the "cost of carbon" they could sneak onto the middle class before they yelled or noticed.

Thus, we see not only higher fuel and enegy costs, but higher proicduct costs as "green" technology is forced into them along with the higher costs attached.

Obama secretly sneaks carbon tax on almost everything!,

Obama is a liar and a thief who values the middle class only for what he can take from them, including their votes.

How utterly pathetic, and how probative of the empty-mindedness upon which Obama can rely among his supplicants.

You "googled up" the book? Ever thought of having someone read it to you?

If you did, then you'd see that the OP is 100% accurate in the presentation of Obama's "Dreams" as he took them from his father and his church of 20 years.

If you really were concerned about "the context," you would put that passage into the context of Obama's books, career and presidency. It would be painfully clear that the middle class to Barack Obama is nothing but a tool to be used and manipulated to the attainment of his goal of the destruction of the United states from the inside out.

Obama a liar? He flip flops on issues? He's a hypocrite?!? I'm calling you out, jdub! How dare you besmirch the good name of our Lord Obama!

Seriously...wait...not seriously. It's funny now. Obama probably can't even tell himself the truth and believe it.
