Hello ATS, I'm a student and decided to do a video on OWS here in Orlando Fl. Currently what I have is an 8 Min, rough cut and thought I could share it here and maybe curb some of the misconceptions in which the media has already decided for you. Upon first hearing of OWS I was under the understanding that it was nothing but "Hippie Liberals" calling for socialism and handouts, what I found is a group of people from all walks of life willing to discuss current political and economical situations in a open forum. Are there liberal hippies there? Sure is. What about right wing supporters? Yep they were there too. Communist and socialist supporters? Yup also there. My point is there is litterally every type of person out there and while it may hurt the movements cause with so many different ideals in the mix, it's also amazing that all these people can come together to discuss issues. I'm sure the Occupy camps differ from state to state but the one here in florida was a really great day of discussions with many different people who were at least able to agree on a few issues.

My whole issue is most people will discount the protests because the news has labeled them one way and incorrectly at that. No matter what your beliefs are why not go out and talk to these people, you'll see they aren't much different than you or I, but I also think if we could get people of all political beliefs together and discuss these issues we could actually start some real change within our government. So before you discount anything because the news tells you to, that should be a clue to go and see for yourself. There is a reason the media is painting this as a movement of just democrats/liberals/hippies, because TPTB do not want the people to come together, United we stand divided we fall type of thing, and well these last few years that divide has been growing farther and farther apart and I blame the media for that.

Spending 3 days out there was a real eye opener and as someone who leans pretty far right I still was able to walk away with a few things that I could agree with them on and think should change. So before you discount anything because you read it online, or heard it on the news, get off the couch, step outside and see for yourself, this could be a chance for all of us to come together and fix what's wrong with our great country.

Thanks for watching.

I agree, the media never even gave them a chance.

Fortunately we have the interwebs!

By the way, what was your question???

I changed the title, my apologies. It was more of a request to discount what the media tells us and to take personal action to find out the truth on our own. But isn't that why most of us are here in the first place?

I was just dumbstruck when I saw Ron Paul supporters out there and realized that the media is 1000X more biased and controlling than I had originally imagined.

I guess my question is if you have pre-concieved notions about what OWS is because of what you read or heard (including my posts and video) don't take anyones word for it but your own if possible. I know I came back with a different view of it. Do i think it will change anything? Personally no. Too many different people with not much leadership will go nowhere fast, along with the media keeping the rest of the population from interacting with the movement it's pretty much IMO doomed to fail. But I blame the media for that and other people for not getting involved.
