Thats a really good picture!

I'm a Hillbilly aswell,
I hail from Kentucky.

One of my favorite hobbies to sky gazing,
I have around 10 gigs of moon pictures
and about 20 gigs of moon video.

Your picture is amazing,
The best picture I ever got of the moon was through a telescope.

Thanks for sharing!
SnF!

im from kentucky as well lol
this is the camera i bought her .
i know nothing about camera the lady told me it was a good one idk.
www.walmart.com...
FujiFilm FinePix S2940 14MP Digital Camera with 18x Optical Zoom, 3.0" LCD Display
it does panoramic pictures ect..
if i put it on high res pictures/automatic the pictures are 5 to 8 mb each.
you can zoom in on a fly on a table...its kinda nice .

it says 18x zoom but it lies cause i zoom way up there way more than 18x if you take it off automatic the zoom is endless.
but it will blurr so u have to auto focus it ya self but when you do it.
i had a telescope some Meade thingy and this camera was better than it for looking at the moon and what not.

The best star gazing for me has been (when uncle sam issued them to me, and i had the down time)
Night Vision goggles......
Seriously, you see about 10x the number of stars.

The moon isn't actually real. It's made of string.

I hate light polution. Where I am there's maybe 50-100 stars in view on a good day, stood outside turning 360 and scanning the entire sky. At best if you pointed and zoomed a camera at any one direction you'd catch maybe 10 stars

yeah man i hate light pollution too.

Nice job! I love it. I used to tape my cheap digital camera to my crappy plastic telescope and get great shots. I also got some amazing stuff by attaching my thrift store binoculars to the digital camera. Re-riggin all that Fancyfied new fangled tek-no-logy is the funnest part.

must be my hillbilly roots...

I'm in Lancashire, light pollution seems to be bad all over the UK. I notice it especially when I look at images and videos from other countries. I'm astounded by how active the night sky is. It must be soul destroying for people with an interest in astronomy to move to the UK and see our near lifeless skies.

Still, there's something very humbling about lying down under the night sky on a clear night. My neighbours must think I'm a nutter but I often have a quarter of my curtain open, if not the whole thing, so I can see the skies at night.

Astronomy is something I know I'd enjoy but haven't gotten round to getting in to. Outside of a documentary or two I'm clueless.

Yeah me too, in London it's pretty bad, not to mention most nights being cloudy.

When I went to my cousins house in south of France I was amazed by the stars in the sky, I was looking up quite often and enjoying the view while hanging out with my cousin, she must have thought I was a bit weird lol.
