Oh #

An order from Gen Mohammed Ali Jaafari, the commander of the guards, raised the operational readiness status of the country’s forces, initiating preparations for potential external strikes and covert attacks. Western intelligence officials said the Islamic Republic had initiated plans to disperse long-range missiles, high explosives, artillery and guards units to key defensive positions.

Gen Jaafari responded to this directive by ordering Revolutionary Guards units to redistribute Iran’s arsenal of long-range Shahab missiles to secret sites around the country where they would be safe from enemy attack and could be used to launch retaliatory attacks. In addition, the Iranian air force has formed a number of “rapid reaction units”, which have been carrying out extensive exercises to practice a response to an enemy air attack.

Standard defensive preparations? Western Intelligence psy ops? Or are we about to see open warfare unleashed upon Iran?

Sounds like Iran is defending itself against a worse case scenario.

We're both playing each other, one side steps up a notch, causes the other side to get paranoid and to step up a notch, causing us to step up a notch, which in turns causes them to......... You see where im going with this really don't you.

If both sides don't calm down any time soon, then a possible war could be highly likely. However, due to so many countries being involved with so many nukes, it will more likely be another kind of 'cold war', along with an economic war (which has already started with the sanctions).

Well they were already attacked by space based weapons in the last couple of weeks so its only natural they are raising their alert.

As for open warfare its always a possibility and war could be imminent

You have any proof to this allegation?

Well almost everything indicates Israel will strike within weeks...if not days... there's a full moon on December 10 after all... and it's almost full moon on Dec.8... so the strikes could start as early as Dec. 8...

So yeah.

Are you serious? Of course not.

But look at the satellite images of the ares that 'exploded' and tell me that you wouldn't consider it a possibility

People like you are precisely one of the problems with the internet. You say whatever the hell you want, knowing it can't make you look bad because you're hiding behind some fictitious user id.

If everyone had only one user ID, at least they'd be less likely to spew crap out, knowing it could mar their reputation. (No, I do not support internet IDs. Just saying it would be nice if people would act reasonably with the one they have.)

It takes seconds to put forth a lie and then derail the entire thread. Just hush if what you plan to say is based on speculation but you rather make it look like it's true until someone questions it.

So much time wasted...

People like you is whats wrong with human society in general.

Why don't you go and get riled up over something productive instead of "Oh its people like you that wreck the interweb...." sob sob

Who cares? I'm just giving my opinion based on the satellite images that a space based weapon could have been used.

You take the time to write a whole post complaining that your internet experience is ruined by "people like me" and say "so much time wasted"....

Go back to your world of warcraft

does that even sound logistically feasible in the slightest? not to mention the space weapons treaties they have enacted that make such an act impossible. detonation of a nuclear weapon in space as an emp device is possible though and would be used as an offensive tactic to disrupt the fighting integrity of the national army, but not in this current political climate, no one is ready to go ahead and face the ramifications of such an act. which leaves us with....not that.

of course the iranians are getting ready for war. I mean, the syrians just aquired some nasty russian scuds to add to their air defense batteries, it would only make sense for the iranians to prepare for conflict since everyone else is..

Well, the game is about up and it's almost time for that balloon to rise. When they start distributing forces this way its going to make logistical nightmares on steroids. This is like the rule of thumb on guessing the intentions of a Navy ship. It isn't the ordinance being loaded to watch, it's the pallets of food and consumables going down the hatches.

Well, the missiles spreading out to deployment locations tells me they are thinking all the trouble is warranted by the near term expectation of needing them. heck, they'll lose a % just by transport accidents and traffic incidents.

IF this is actually what they ARE doing and not just hot air out of Tehran to raise the rhetoric....I'd call this an exceptionally serious development.

Saddam Hussein convened his top aides and military commanders Thursday to prepare for a possible war with the United States and to discuss how to "inflict defeat on the evil aggressors."
The Iraqi president met with his deputy Izzat Ibrahim, his son Qusai, commander of the elite Republican Guards, Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Sultan Hashim Ahmed and a group of "fighters and researchers," according to Iraqi news reports.
The meeting dealt with preparing the Iraqi military and public for an American attack, radio stations and the official Iraqi News Agency reported.

BAGHDAD - President Saddam Hussein placed Iraq on a war footing on Saturday night, issuing a decree that divided the country into four military districts under his command and ordered them to "destroy" any US-led invasion. Faced with prospects of war to unseat him within days, Saddam named close aides to command the districts, including his younger son Qusay who was charged with commanding the key areas of Baghdad and Tikrit, the government’s powerbase.

Tens of thousands of soldiers and armed personnel are digging trenches and setting up tents in anticipation of invading troops. They are concentrated along the street opposite the Canal hotel, where the UN inspectors were staying. They are also building trenches to the west near Abu Ghareeb prison and beyond towards Ramadi.
