Hey ATSer's.

Found this video on youtube.



I thought the strange radar readings were worth a post. I understand it could just be a fault in the program but over area 51? C'mon? thats got to be more than just a coincidence.

Anyway thought I'd start a thread to see if we can find the answers.

You are not going to get any radar returns on anything over Area 51...they have it jammed...

These could be chaff...

a radar countermeasure in which aircraft or other targets spread a cloud of small, thin pieces of aluminium, metallized glass fibre or plastic, which either appears as a cluster of secondary targets on radar screens or swamps the screen with multiple returns.


Or regular jet trails bouncing reflectivity back.

I have never seen chaff on a radar return but from what I know of how all that stuff works chaff would look like a cloud.
It would 'white-out' the screen in the area it has been deployed in.
This would happen because chaff does not counter act radar, it uses radars own functions against it, by giving the radar
thousands of false returns.Tricking the radar into seeing something that's not there.
