Hollywood, they say, is a tough place.

But I'm so tired of seeing shows with minor celebrities and their drug problems.
Everything is OK to say and do as publicity, but if you're a man just don't admit you're gay!

Nobody can tell me our known list of celebrities today are all straight.
Why are they so scared to come out?

But did they ever?
Some were dragged out of the closet by history and AIDS, and others have such a strong rumor about them that they might as well come out too.

OK, I understand that coming out is a personal choice.
I'd just like a bit of sauciness and discussion on who might be in the closet.
We (as openly gay people) are fighting their wars and watching their movies, and making them rich.
What do they do for us?

But hey, Elton, Freddie and George used to deny it too at a stage.
So did I.

We don't think any less of anyone for being in the closet.
If you all came out at once - that would be great!

Anyway, this clip is set to the music of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance", and it varies between "weak rumors" and "strong rumors".
I suppose a lot of Hollywood males started out as virtual rent-boys, so only sustained rumors of homosexuality are relevant.

I'd rather not know. If someone is really gay but is playing someone straight (or vice versa), it kills the whole movie for me.
I also don't care about who's dating who, or who got arrested for pulling his penis out in a crowded airport, etc.
I'd rather keep their private lives private so I can enjoy the damn movie.

Does it really matter if they are in the closet or out of the closet? Does it really matter if they are homosexual or not? Long as they are happy let em be.

In all truthfulness, what does it matter? If you enjoy the performance of an actor, signer, dancer or any other showmen, then why would you even care whether they have any sexual preference AT ALL or not?

If the president announced that he is homo-sexual, it would certainly not make him run the country any better than he does now would it?

You should seriously consider having an interest in things that have an impact on your OWN life.

If the celeb in the spotlight is too scared to come out and waits years to pluck up the courage, then that just might add to the terror of the anguished teen hiding in their bedroom from the bullies.

So there's various responses.
But one of the first (above) is salient.
To a straight Hollywood audience it would make a difference.

The actor than becomes attached to baggage.

And lets face it, all actors bring real life baggage or past roles to film.
Take the Mafia/American-Italian movies - always the same actors, from "Raging Bull" to "Casino".
Same with big Vietnam movies (although the genre has now lessened).

If you come out as gay, then you only get gay roles.

Gay is no more of an empirical question than whether someone is Jewish. If they were to hide their Jewishness, it would seem rightly odd, bizarre, anachronistic, even arguably self-critical or self-loathing. And yet we have been told by many that X may be gay … and no one will ask directly if this is true and no one will tell us definitively. I find this preposterous – a function of liberal cowardice and conservative discomfort. If it should mean nothing either way, then out with it.

Hugh Jackman and Gerard:

Maybe, maybe not.
But they want to look like gay fantasies, no?

They want money for their films, and equal rights for their private lives.
Who is fighting for those rights?

OK, subsequently at least Ricky Martin came out.

The straight press hounded him out of his closet.
He should therefore no longer be in the video.

A man with courage!

If I have two movies to see and one has a gay lead actor, the other is not, I'm going with straight.

It does if they are in MY closet. If they are in their own closet, then they can diddle anyone they like...as long as they stay in their closet.

Thanks for the above two posts, because this is a common response.

It does matter to many people still, if an actor is gay or not.

I don't know where these (very well meaning) people come from who say it no longer matters.

It still matters in Western countries, and probably even matters more for global distribution.

Who cares who is gay and who isn't. The fact that you are concerned about it suggests that you might have a problem with gay people. Is that the case?

What if you didn't know? I think it depends more on the ability of the actor to play the part. Having said that, I doubt you are going to see Nathan Lane pull off a romantic lead opposite a woman.

No, I am gay.
I have a problem with people using popular culture to create their mass culture, and benefit from rights that small people fought for, while they were enjoying the good life, and yet we still see these dunces celebrated in gay culture.

They must come out, or we must kick them out.

This video looks photoshopped. With that said, I have gay friends who a lot of the time if you call them exclusively gay they actually take offense to it

Gays are still confused after coming out of the closet.

I ask them why and they can't really explain why they still get mad about being gay even after coming out the closet. I believe it is because when you come out and say you are gay ppl believe it is exclusive and permanent. But, more importantly I believe these ppl dont really see being gay as something morally correct. I honestly believe most gay men and women are ppl who were involved in broken relationships (directly or indirectly) and they gave up on due to past experiences. Also, I think media protrays SEX SEX and more SEX everyday. And so people get the wrong message and pursue lust dreams instead of love.

Love is much more difficult and love between a man and a woman if true is more powerful then any true gay love. Sorry gay ATSers, it is just my opinion gay is the mark of giving up the tough quest of similarities between great differences.

The cosmos are after all created by dualities.
